Trust me I know our cap situation. I played with that a lot. We can sign Scherff if we make it a priority. And yes I would do that instead of passrusher and CB. Re-sign Bates and Phillips, sign servicable CB, draft WR, OL and CB in first three rounds. That's my plan. I don't think we can get/pay difference maker at DE in FA, so I'd focus on difference maker in OL.

This is like asking if you would rather be a businessman making good money or random lottery ticket winner after you already know which lottery ticket won. Your question is silly.

Hyperbole much? Beane is not doing nothing. He is building the team in another way than the Rams. I wonder what is your opinion on 13 seconds. I guess you knew we were going to lose before that happened because we didn't trade for Von Miller so we obviously couldn't win the SB. I wonder how is even possible that all 8-12 contenders just don't trade for some difference maker at deadline. They would all win SBs so they didn't have to care what happens in the future.
-
Because going "all in" does not guarantee that you win the whole thing, that's why. And if you don't, you don't have the trophy and you don't have the team for the next try. You act like the Rams were destined to win it no matter what. If it was that easy, all teams would replicate them. But guess what, only one team can win. It's game of inches. One play (today, in NFCCG or against Tampa) goes other way and now we would be talking how everything what Rams did was for nothing.

My hot take: This was the last SB Joe Burrow has ever played.

What needs to be done to get us here?

We need to be luckier at that game of inches. -
Do we know the money? Or is it somehow set since he was an ERFA?

Oh yeah we do! I hope that Bills come one day. And Germany is much better for me than London.

Isaiah McKenzie aka, Lil Dirty, sounds like he’s moving on
No_Matter_What replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. I don't understand all the talk about this guy. I look at his numbers and age and I have no idea why people are willing to overpay for him. If he comes for "free" then so be it but I don't think that is the case. Otherwise I see a ton of other options how to spend our limited cap space. Best IOL available would be a good start. -
2022 Offseason Primer Position Group: Secondary
No_Matter_What replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks for doing these again. IIRC last year you went into more detail with respect to FA and possible scenarios in each position group. There is one thing I don't get - when you talk about Jaquan Johnson as potential cut candidate due to savings. That sounds weird to me. I don't think you "save" anything when you cut someone making less than a million. You need to replace that guy. Cutting him does not help our cap situation at all. If anything, we NEED to keep guys like him. There is no point in cutting him, unless we sign someone better for same price (which is very unlikely imo), or if we plan to upgrade the position (which doesn't make sense to me since he is a backup who almost never sees the field). I am really confused. -
Spotrac has Levi Wallace valued @ $9M/yr. Thoughts?
No_Matter_What replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is very interesting topic and my only contribution is that I have no idea My only guess is that if WE sign him, it will not be for more than 5-6M AAV. But I have no idea how realistic that is. -
The WR FA list for 2022 is very intriguing…
No_Matter_What replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is really a nice list and I'm sure Beane will sign somebody. I expect some cheaper vet. What I am more interested in is list of available IOL FA. -
This Stackpole guy at CBS has us taking OL Kenyon Green. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2022-nfl-mock-draft-malik-willis-rides-impressive-senior-bowl-week-into-top-10-saints-steelers-also-add-qbs/ @GunnerBill how do you see him and which position do you project him in NFL? Would you consider drafting him if you were Bills? There are Booth, Williams and Penning still on the board when we choose btw. That would be hell of a choice for us.

Athletic article forecasting our cap casualties
No_Matter_What replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Williams isn't going anywhere imo. We need to upgrade the line, not make it weaker. He was solid at guard second half of the season and he is fine as backup tackle. I'd re-sign Bates, bring in Scherff or other best available FA OG, draft IOL in first 3 rounds and still keep Williams. OL has to be a priority. -
Should the Bills extend Edmunds?
No_Matter_What replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just saw walterfootball.com mock draft. They have us taking LB Damone Clark, LSU with the following comment: "The Bills must improve at defending the middle of the field. Tremaine Edmunds has been a huge bust as a former first-round pick. Damone Clark could be the next great LSU linebacker with his size and speed." I find it interesting since I don't remember reading anything remotely negative about Edmunds from anyone outside TBD. https://walterfootball.com/draft2022_1.php -
Pro Bowl implementing “Spot and Choose”
No_Matter_What replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't understand why there is a game. Just name the best players and that's it. It would also solve the "alternates" issue. -
Should the Bills extend Edmunds?
No_Matter_What replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Edmunds is better than people here generally give him credit for. If we get rid of him, this defense will get worse unless we somehow draft some stud or pay a lot to someone else in FA. That being said, I'd strongly consider trading him, and if not, I'd strongly consider not extending him. We will not be able to pay everybody, and we just have to let go some guys. And I'd probably rather keep and pay Knox and Oliver (which will not be easy anyway). -
Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)
No_Matter_What replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have to admit I have never understood this logic. Is it something what you'd consider, or you do assume that NFL teams consider it? Anyway, can somebody explain me why does it matter at all if someone runs 4.40 or 4.30? I mean there are years of tape on each prospect, why is it relevant how fast someone runs in specific conditions? Everybody can see on the tape how fast someone runs on the field, if he can outrun defenders, creat separation, catch the ball, etc. I am not saying it has no merits I just don't understand it. -

I'll stop you right there. Dolphins are not picking in the first round this year. -
Free Agents - who do you like?
No_Matter_What replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think many posters will be really disappointed (again) this offseason, esp. those who expect some big name signing. I am no cap expert and I am be missing something but I've made some calculations yesterday and I'd be really surprised if we make some big moves. Yes you can do magic with the cap if you want to kick the can down the road, but Beane doesn't seem like an all in guy. Thus I expect maybe 2 big restructures but nothing more extraordinary. I am working with Sportrac data so feel free to correct me. My main idea is that we will bolster IOL no matter what so I expect big FA signing there. Right now Sportrac says we are 1.3M over the cap. Let's assume Morse retires (7,6M savings), we cut Beasley (6.1M), Klein (5,2), Sweeney (1M) and all fringe/PS players who are counted now (except let's say Hodgins, Stevenson and Cam Lewis), plus we restructure Diggs (6M) and White (6,5M). That leaves us with 35 players signed and 38,5M cap space. Then let's say we sign Brandon Scherff (8M cap hit - I guess he will command 11AAV but I'll only state only first year cap hit), Bates (3,5M), Phillips (4M), Zimmer (1,5M), Dodson (0,9M), Hughes (or similar vet, 2,5M), QB FA (3M), RB FA (1M), TE FA (2,5M), WR FA (3M), cheap DE FA (1,5), T.Jones (or similar 1M) and 6 draft picks (WR, IOL, CB, TE, LB, DE - together 7,3M). I count 6 rookies since it is unlikely that more will make the team. That is together almost 40M. You just need to fill the roster somehow. So I'd say top OL FA and thats it. Maybe you can save money here and there (Star, Feliciano) and take more expensive WR or CB or something but I really doubt we will be able to make a big splash for top CB or top DE. Or maybe we could but at the expense of top OL which I think should be a priority. Also, as follows from the above, I would be shocked if we keep Beasley or Klein, unless they take significant pay cuts. Finally, looking at our cap situation going forward, I think we need to get rid of Edmunds. I actually like him, and I think this defense will be much worse without him (unless we get some stud somehow), but I don't see how we can also pay him going forward, together with Allen, White, Diggs, Milano, Johnson, Oliver and Knox (and I'd pay the last two). So he is the odd man out in my book. Therefore, I'd really consider trading him now if there is a potential suitor. I doubt Bills see it this way though. If they do, I'd trade him, draft LB high (rounds 1-3) instead of CB and sign more expensive CB FA.
