Like a said before I do agree with you on some general points but you can't judge Beane's overall strategy right now. We need to wait. I was banging the drum for top OL FA like no one on this board. If it was Norwell, I'd overpay Norwell. But that is one player. If from any reason he didn't want to come hore, there's nothing Beane could do about it. So maybe Saffold was really best OL FA they could get, in which case they did exactly what you and I wanted them to do. Same with Jones. I still hope he comes. But maybe he signs something like 36/2 with a structure we couldn't afford. We'll see. Or are you saying that you would prioritize Norwell/Jones to the point where you don't care about anything else and just sign total JAGs on vet min on all other positions? Because if not, I don't think there is much to criticize on Settle/DaQuan Jones signings. We needed bodies on DT positions and to me it seems that Beane found reasonably cheap value. Bolded is because whether you get comp picks at all is decided only by number of relevant outgoings/incomings (which is 2/2 right now), and quality of the pick (i.e. which round) is determined only when you have more outgoings than incomings? I am asking since apparently the way you listed is that outgoings should net more value.

Ok, to me the way you wrote it is sounded like those contracts are counted. What I meant they are not relevant to the remaining cap. Not a big deal either way

Not sure if you realize it but in all cases only 51 contracts count. So anything over 51 is irrelevant. All teams you listed have those numbers counting 51 players.

I am really surprised. I think OL is a priority, so I'd sign FA IOL starter, draft OL in first 3 rounds and keep Williams as primary backup. Seems that he didn't fit the scheme or was too expensive. I really hope a top guard is coming in FA.

This. And this. Absolutely. Signing Morse was absolutely crucial for Allen and his contract was one of the best Beane ever signed. Slight overpaying of top FA is inevitable.
