  1. Well I wasn't way off with my guess 2 days ago. A bit smaller signing bonus, a bit lower 2022 cap hit in exchange for higher cap hits next 2 years. Overall nice contract, next year will be fun cap wise EDIT: What is surprising, according to sportrac signing bonus is spread over 5 years only, not all 6. I had no idea it was even possible. So it means that after 3 years there is only dead cap of 2 years worth of signing bonus (7,4M). Interesting.
  2. He has way higher than 5%. It won't be easy to have 4 guards better than him on the roster. Right now we have 2 if you count Bates. Hopefully 3rd comes from the draft. You need at least one more to cut Ford. Won't be easy.
  3. Yeah reports seem to be contradictory. My money is on Joe being right though.
  4. Yes Hap I am pretty sure you don't quite unterstand how Sportrac works, and bolded is exactly how it works. See my post on previous page where I did exactly that - you need to take $3.5M off once you count complete cap hits of all 5 remaining new players. Sportrac has no way how to reflect that. At this moment, it counts 51 players, including last one Quintin Morris who has 705k cap hit. Cap space (top 51) is lets say 17M. So if Saffold's contracts is accounted for, his 4.2M cap hit goes to top 51, but Morris' 0.7M cap goes out of the equation. So our cap space is lowered by the difference only, and it becomes 13.5M.
  5. Hap you have it wrong. You can't substract all 4.2 for Saffold. It's only 3.5, since it replaces 700k of bottom roster guy.
  6. I've been saying that all along and everything what happened in FA so far points to that direction. I think CB situation solves itself somehow, so the only thing which I am not happy with right now is OL. I have no idea how good Saffold is but I wanted to get best OL available in FA, draft OL Day1 or Day2 in draft AND retain Bates+Williams. With Williams gone we have definitely not upgraded both strating line and depth. Hopefully Beane has some additional ideas.
  7. I didn't notice your opinion on Von Miller signing. Do you like it? Do you like it more that Chandler Jones signing you wanted?
  8. It was already reported that it is NOT post June 1
  9. Waiting for Sportrac to catch up I'll make a wild guess how we stand. They show we have 15,5M right now (actually 16,9M top51 but since final roster is 53 players I have no clue what's the point of temporary top 51). That's after cutting Star already. They have OJ Howard wrong, since they count 3,5M and his actual cap hit for 2022 will be 2,9M if the reports are true. So we have 16,1M cap space. Saffold - 4,25M (reported) Miller - 6M (my wild guess, I expect up to 4M prorated signing bonus and max 2M salary) DQ Jones - 5M (maybe little less, it was reported as 14/2 but some void year would not surprise me) Phillips - 2,5M (no clue, but I guess he and Lawson came very cheap) Lawson - 2M (same as above, even less money) However, these cap hits replace 700k cap hit of other players currently accounted for so we need to add extra 3,5M. In this scenario we are right now having around 0 cap space. We need backup QB, and I expect maybe 2 more FA players (CB, OL?, RB?, LB?), plus we need up to 3M for rookies, so 2 more restructures incoming. Looking forward real numbers.
  10. If it is pre June 1 release (standard), we save around 1,5M cap space this year and also eat all his dead cap, which is quite a lot - 7,7M. We could also use post June 1 release, which means 2,6M more savings this year (so 4,1M savings, 5,1M dead cap), but those 2,6M would be dead cap next season (2023). And savings this year would be effective after June 1, so we would not be able to use those money (cap space) right now in free agency. Apparently we chose the former option. Good to hear. Don't have to kick every can down the road.
  11. Great overall cap hit. Don't like 2M hit next year but I guess I need to learn to live with that
  12. Anybody has idea when should sportrac has missing data? I mean they are now trying to get info from league or agents or what? I find it weird that some contracts are immediately known to details and in some (many) cases we need to wait days (weeks?).
  13. To be fair Raiders were in WR market probably too anyway. This just makes it almost certainty that WR goes 22.
  14. I guess somebody already noted that but this all but guarantees Packers taking WR at 22. There will be huge run on WRs just in front of us.
  15. You guys learned nothing? If there is a news that we inquired about this guy you can be sure that Beane is working on something completely different.
  16. Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips
  17. Well you certainly know how to exaggerate.
  18. Didn't read the whole thread so no idea if this was discussed, but I will take a wild guess on contract structure: $24M signing bonus spread over 6 years. There will be some other yearly bonuses instead of base salary I am just make it simple for the guess purposes. Y1 - 4M base salary (8M cap hit) Y2 - 11M base salary (15M cap hit) Y3 - 14M base salary (18M cap hit) Y4 - 17M base salary (21M cap hit, 12M dead cap) Y5 - 25M base salary (29M cap hit, 8M dead cap) Y6 - 25M base salary (29M cap hit, 4M dead cap) That's 120M total, 53M in first 3 years, 70M in first 4. I can imagine signing bonus being a little less, but I doubt its less than 20M.
  19. I've been saying for two months that this us what I want/expect in first three rounds. And after what we've done in FA it seems more and more likely.
  20. So Miller - Jones/Settle - Oliver - Rousseau? Fine with me I guess
  21. Sry if this us stupid question, but does he fit our defense? I know nothing about it, but we play 4-3 and as far as I know he used to play 3-4 OLB. Anyway I trust Beane and McD on this one
