I just made this chart with actual Bills roster and would like to know what do you guys think. We have 75 players currently on the roster. Blue guys are draft picks, green are new FA acquisitions from offseason, red are UDFA signings. Players above the grey line made it to my initial 53 man roster, players below that line are potential PS players/cuts. The idea is just to see where we potentially stand. There are 25 offensive players, 25 defensive players and 3 special teamers. EDIT: Made a couple of changes after some discussions below. Put Stevenson in and moved Duke Johnson out (we are not keeping all RBs and we just drafted Cook). Also put Cam Lewis in and rookie Christian Benford out. At this stage, its Cam Lewis' job to lose. It is also likely that Tre doesn't start season on 53 so Bernard might get in this way. Also switched Dane Jackson and Siran Neal, Jackson was a starter last year and deserves to be higher.

Now the real question is, can Beane flip Haack for a draft pick? -

But it makes sense to keep all those picks and then see which one pans out enough to make the roster. -

Rd 5, Pick 148 (5): WR Khalil Shakir, Boise St

He was no. 89 on the big board consolidated from PFF, PFN, The Athletic, Tankathon, ESPN a Daniel Jeremiah's big boards. So consensus was he is a late 3rd round guy. -

I wonder how Isaiah McKenzie feels right now 😏 Even if he is just s slot, there is a clear upside, and above all, he is a WR! Makes me happy. -

Well there is still an OL who @GunnerBill mocked to us in the 2nd. There is still another G who many people mocked to us in the 3rd. But yeah we need to move up at some point. You need two to tango though. -

Is there anybody out there who considers this funny? EDIT: I mean that "Blue Men" group. -
I love how you said that my post was good and well-written and then proceeded to disagree mostly and eventually calling me mad But don't take me wrong I feel sort of the same - I respect your post a lot but disagree to a certain point. As for 1, I really do think that every time you deviate from the consensus too much you already lost. Yeah you might hit from time to time, but you miss more often than not and overall you lose. You just don't hit nearly enough to justify deviation (i.e. thinking you are smarter than others). Granted, I don't have data to back this up, but I think it is common sense and quick look at 1st round deviations in last 4 years says a lot (there was a chart posted here couple days ago). Look at what Ravens just did. Up until now they chose 6 playes. ALL of them were taken lower (or much lower) than consensus. Now that is how you pick value. Hamilton at 14, Linderbaum at 25, Ojabo at 45, Travis Jones at 76, Faalele at 110, Armour-Davis at 119. I have no doubt that this is much better way to build the team. I would even go so far to say that even if you ALWAYS randomly choose the one of the 5 highest nonQB guys on the consensus board instead of making your own deviation pick, you build a better team. In Bills case these guys were (on my consolidated board) Winfrey, Chenall, Tindall, Parnham, Cross. I will surely watch them Now one thing I might overestimate is the actual deviation. We picked him at 89, and he might have been around 120. That I can live with that. If he was 140 it just gets worse and worse. As for 3, I am not mad. Just dissapointed. They apparently think in lines of what you wrote. But that still screams backup. I can hardly imagine a scenario in which it was impossible to find a G who could be starter by next year. Or OT who could become NFL G. Anyway, hopefully they hit the pick and they keep on hitting today.

Agreed. And that to me sounds like a bad decision given the state of our roster.

I've never been more disappointed by the Bills draft pick. To me it just doesn't make any sense. There are 3 reasons for it: 1. General consensus. I hate when GMs try to outsmart everybody. Guy wasn't in top 100 in any board I've seen except PFN - that is the only reason I knew about him. Now I know that media personalities and various sport sites are not NFL scouts, but still - those are also guys who do this for a living in some capacity. You just can't be smarter than everybody. That is why Cole Strange is a bad pick no matter what, and why Terrel Bernard is a bad pick no matter what. Yes, he was a bad pick even if he pans out better than expected. It is like in poker - even bad decision can (and often does) result in a huge win. But to win longterm, you need to make good decisions. Reaching because you see something what nobody else does is not a way how to build a roster. Reaching for a non-premium position even more so. 2. Resource allocation. 1st round CB is a great resource allocation. 2nd round RB not so much, especially if it is 3rd RB picked in the first 3 rounds in 4 years. But OK, I can live with it. But LB in the 3rd round when we haven't drafted a single WR (or have drafted a single one, if we count Diggs) in last 5 years? With 40+M cap hits of Allen and lot of other expensive players we need to have steady influx of cheap WR, CB, DE and OL talent. And as for WR, second year in a row we failed to do it. I think it doesn't make any sense, especially with so much talent being on the board in 2nd and 3rd round. And it really seems like we haven't even tried. I don't get it. Same with OL. Beane told us that protecting Josh is a big priority - well then we need to draft accordingly. 3. Player himself. Since we drafted him, I haven't read a single thing about him which would make me feel better. At best he seems to be a LB depth. If we wanted another Milano, then why don't take a shot in 5th or something, just as with Milano? Besides, we already have Milano and he isn't going anywhere at least next 2 years. Is there any indication that this guy could take over Edmunds in case we let him walk? If not, what is the point of drafting a guy like him so high? Did we really need a player who might fill Klein's role (i.e. role of primary backup who never sees field if both starters are healthy) to be drafted this high? To be clear, I love this regime and have full confidence in them. But this is the first time I absolutely don't get what they did. Every year from now on it will be harder and harder to keep a good team together due to cap reasons, and drafting gyus like this doesn't seem to be a way to go for me. I hope they prove me wrong though.

Parnham, Rhyan and Cross went shortly after Bernard pick and were much higher on every board I saw. Interesting and weird. -

Spot on. I wanted a WR, but it was pretty obvious that it wasn't in the Bills plan. Not sure I like it, but thats the way it was. So saying that some WRs run killed us is just not what happened.
