Absolutely this. I've mentioned it yesterday in GDT.
Diggs is below average in YAC and it's on him. I am completely fine with it; just like you said, once he has the ball, he is protecting himself. I am pretty sure he could have had much more YAC if he changed his playstyle.
So, now when we know that Bernard might actually be a good player, isn't it time to start bashing Beane for drafting Dorian Williams? Why did we need him, when we already have two Pro-bowl LBs?
Like I said in another thread - imagine if Bernard actually turns out to be at least an average NFL MLB this year.
That would immediately improve Beane's 2022 draft results, give us one more good player on a rookie contract and one less position to care about next offseason.
Then if Cook, Kincaid and Torrence (and maybe Williams) prove them to be what they seem to be, then suddenly we have a new young core of good to great players drafted in these past 2 years.
I don't want to turn this into another Edmunds debate, but I just want to say that I am very encouraged by his play.
Imagine if we proves to be valuable NFL starter. One more good draft pick for Beane, one more player on rookie contract and one less hole to fill for couple of years.
Great complete performance by the whole team except of first drive on D and end of that drive which ended on downs.
Great playcalling, perfect OLine, disciplined and precise Allen, amazing run game, good Dline, solid D overall.
This drive may end up in FG, but still...
Amazing playcalling.
Amazing OLine.
Good run game.
Amazing catches by all WRs.
And above all, amazing and disciplined Josh Allen.
Loving it today.
