  1. Hmm not happy to hear this. Beane doesn't restructure if he doesn't need to, and I was hoping that we could fit all players announced up to this point (including Bosa and Larry O) under cap thanks to Allen extension (which I guess lowers his cap hit by $20 or so million). It seems that I was either wrong or he is signing another player.
  2. You guys knew what you were talking about
  3. Darrynton Evans approves this message.
  4. I don't think we need any extensions right now. Bernard extension probably lowers his hit and that is enough to absorb Palmer's contract. But then there is also Allen's extension not accounted for and I guess it lowers the cap hit too. We should have room now.
  5. Gonzo I don't think your interpretation is correct. I am not an expert myself, but my understanding is that if we keep him for 2 years (without any restructure) his total cap hit will be around $14.5M (4.5 + 7.5 cap hits + 2.5 dead cap). So to me this is in fact 14/2 contract.
  6. I think this could be an indication that we plan to draft the fifth WR. We have met with quite a few, at least 3 who are expected to go in the first two rounds, and another 3 who are late 3rd/ early 4th projections (we have Bears pick there). I am fine with it. Edit: Unless we somehow land bigger fish, which I am fine with too
  7. You are the one who doesn't want average players. So maybe Beane is trying to acquire big fish, and if he fails (which is likely, there are not many available around), he just keeps some cap space to try again before trade deadline. Wouldn't it be great ho have some cap space midseason when some really good players on some really bad teams could be available?
  8. Agreed. I always thought he planned to do something big this offseason. But there are not many options left (there were not many overall).
  9. Oops then sorry, I didn't want to sound personal anyway, that was my overall reaction to all those comments which imply that Beane should've done something when nobody knows if it was even on the table.
  10. Even if it was reasonable, you have no idea if he was willing to come here under the same conditions. Money is obviously most important but there are many other factors. But yeah keep trashing Beane for every move he didn't make that you have no idea if was even possible.
  11. Nice try to match legendary "wins against NFC teams hurt our playoff chances" thread (by the same OP if I am not mistaken), but that's really an uphill battle
  12. Speaking of Metcalf, would you do the trade Steelers did and pay him the way they did (granted we don't know the details yet)?
  13. This is simply not true. He chose two great players at least - Diggs and Miller. And you are simplyfing things a lot but calling Bernard and especially Groot "solid" and Metcalf "great". Rousseau and Metcalf are much closer imo than you make it to be but you put them into different categories so your argument sounds better. I know that you already explained your position on this more than enough so this is just me telling you that I disagree
  14. I know he could be lying but he said that Elam was the last player with the first round grade they had. Otherwise I agree. We often seem to have clear hole which forces Beane's hand in the first round.
  15. Lol I came to post this. I certainly thought that at least one of them will be re-signed before FA.
  16. And poor Beane will be blamed again how he failed to gain a difference maker...
  17. I was looking at our roster and cap about an hour ago and realized that I wouldn't be shocked if Milano was surprising post June 1 cut. I'd say chances are little bit higher now. As for Bernard, I like that we are keeping our own, and he was very good most of the time. I am not sure this is the right time and right price, but I'll trust Beane on this one. I hope that we will see actual deal sooner than in Shakir's case
  18. Good. Didn't want him anyway. He sucks! Exactly. And I don't see how we can give that to him when we have to pay Allen.
  19. This comment is not directed to you, but after reading TBD last couple of days it seems that at least 50 prospects are likely to be taken before we pick at 30
  20. Not true. I also remember Basham as consensus 2nd round talent, as @MJS said. And some proofs (first two links I opened): Consensus Big Board - Basham 48 https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2021/consensus-big-board-2021 PFF - Basham 43 https://www.pff.com/news/draft-final-2021-nfl-draft-board-big-board-draft-rankings
  21. This is why it is sometimes so difficult to discuss Beane's drafting here. People say complete nonsense like this and it derails any rational discussion. First two redrafts I opened: https://www.the33rdteam.com/2021-nfl-re-draft-who-would-every-team-take-3-years-later/ Groot 18 to Miami https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-re-drafting-the-2021-nfl-draft-three-years-later-which-teams-would-pick-differently Groot 12 do Dallas. Yeah, overdrafted.
  22. I know it is from Sportrac. But same numbers were or Sportrac half a year ago. Same Sportrac says he gained $4M incentive for 6 sacks this season. Those $4M have to affect his cap hit somehow. I don't know how, but I have doubts about current number. @Tuco?
  23. Cutting Jones saves $1.7M. Do you really think we can get someone better for that kind of money? I'd wait and see if we can land spm cheap FA or draft someone. @GASabresIUFan I am not and expert, but I don't think Von's numbers are correct. Those are numbers before incentives which he has reached. I guess that they will increase dead cap. Someone will surely educate me
