Chiefs 19m Over Salary Cap in 2021
No_Matter_What replied to JMF2006's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the link, I didn't find this one. There is at least some answer to my question: "Time will tell what the league chooses to do. Although a projected cap typically is shared with all owners in December, the final decision isn’t made until late February or early March, through negotiations with the NFL Players Association. By then, the league will know more about whether the vaccine is being distributed and working properly, setting the stage for coffers being restored via ticket revenue in 2021." If they really decide on cap in early March, I am curious if FA starts as usual. Last year it was 18 March. That gives GMs much less time to calculate things. Will be fun offseason. -

Anyway, when will we find out what the salary cap for next season is? I googled and still have no idea. I find it weird that it is end of January, FA starts in month and half or so and we still have no idea what the cap will be. -
Chiefs 19m Over Salary Cap in 2021

@Zerovoltz Aren't you missing Flank Clark in your first post? He is also under contract. Anyway, whoever thinks that Chiefs will have cap space problem in coming years are just fooling themselves. As said by Zero and Gunner above they have some top paid players and will fill other spots by rookies, cheap veterans and JAGs. Surely, once Mahomes big money really kicks in (which happens in 2023) they might start to be tight, but there is always a way. Maybe eventually it will catch them like it happened to Saints this year, but by that time they can have quite a lot rings in their pockets. We need to find a way to beat them on the field -

I just hope we never draft RB in round 1. No matter how good he may be, value is never there. -
Offseason Primer Position Group: LB

Fully agree on bolded. But would love to hear your thoughts who do you consider premier pass rusher these days. How many of them you can count? Can you name them? Thing is that these guys are hard to get -

So many legends on that list. -
Offseason Primer Position Group: Secondary

@MAJBobby Taron Johnson, Cam Lewis and Josh Thomas (who?) need to be bolded and separated. I also liked how you colored rookies in other thread so it is clear they are new. So I read all your defense primers, and you basically suggest getting rid of old guys at DL, getting two DL top players, drafting a rookie here and there and keeping everything else intact (if Milano stays for reasonable price). I like it. But like a said, I expect something big to happen at our LB corps. -

@MAJBobby Andre Smith is not bolded in OP and misses a space between him and Phillips. As for Milano, I said it in the past and I still think the same - he strikes me as a guy who doesn't care about money at all and will stay here for 8M AAV if that's what Bills offer. This will be most interesting group in the offseason for sure. I expect something big to happen. I am not an expert, but one of the reasons we lost to Chiefs because we couldn't cover Kelce and in my understanding it has something to do with our LBs. So the only thing I don't think will happen that we will keep Milano and play the same scheme as last year. Either we don't keep Milano, or we trade for a MLB and move Edmunds outside, or we start playing 3LB sets, or we draft some LB stud in 1st round, or something. Not sure what will happen but there will be major changes. @Dont Stop Billeiving @Solomon Grundy Apparently you guys are not only ones wanting this guy. Tankathon has him currently going as high as 18 to Dolphins. -
Offseason Primer Position Group: DL

@MAJBobby Just want to say that I truly appreciate these threads. Its a great read. I really like your projected DLine. But as you said later, I doubt they will go to next season with one new top DE and everybody else being so young, so I guess we keep Hughes even in your scenario. Ideally he could take pay cut since we is not worth 9,5M cap hit. In reality I also doubt they get rid of all other old DL, i.e. Butler, Addison and Jefferson. I guess somebody will stay - probably Addison, who has biggest dead cap. And if Addison stays, we will not have money on the other guys you mention (or anybody else of same quality). -
So...are Edmunds and Oliver good?
No_Matter_What replied to Reader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't read the whole thread and I definitely do not feel capable of evaluating players myself, so I will not comment on both players. My perception is that Edmunds is really inconsistent and maybe playing out of position and Oliver is too soon to judge, even though so far he is definitely not a game wrecker we were hoping him to be. What I am really sure of is that if anybody Beane and McDermott are 100% aware of issues with our defense, specifically front 7. There were changes compared to last year at DL, and most of them don't seem to pan out. They are aware of this and I am pretty sure they will try to fix it. There will be lot of changes in the DL. As for Edmunds, it seems that most of you would move him to OLB. If all of you are right, I am sure that McD sees it too. He will not hesitate to make a change - see Ford, Cody as an example. Once they came to conclusion that he might be more efficient at G, they moved him there, even thought they clearly drafted him as RT. It took much longer time with Edmunds, but it will happen if thats the solution. So my guess that linebackers issue will be addressed this offseason. We will draft somebody pretty high this year, or do something at FA. It is pretty clear that everything they do will be made to make sure that we have better chance to beat the Chiefs, and its clear that one of these things is stopping Kelce. They see its not working with Milano/Edmunds and they will do whatever they can to fix it. -
Funny I think GB has made a lot of mistakes in this game but kicking that FG was not one of them. They can only blame themselves. However, what bothered me most was how they had no urgency whatsoever. Lack of time cost them the game. Rodgers always takes so much time to snap the ball with no reason at all. Even during last drive everything took them eternity even though it was pretty clear they needed to score ASAP to have a chance to score again.

How are you passing the time today?

You got many "Haha" emojis and I guess you weren't kidding. -
Hey @GunnerBill, you never told us that you are Philip Rivers' son!

First of all I don't get why so many of you care so much what people in TV say but it is what it is. @transplantbillsfan I still don't get your post. Are you complaining that we don't get national attention in general, or are you complaining that we don't get enough credit for hardest path so far? Has anybody actually said that some other team had harder path? It is hard to believe. But when it comes to judging the path, you are doing exactly what you blame others for. You have narrative and agenda. Let's talk about facts. Chiefs and Packers played one game so far, so they are not even in conversation. We have played two 11-5 teams at home, Tampa has played 7-9 and 12-4 teams on the road. I say it is pretty similar, with our games being slightly harder overall. I don't think many people would argue that Tampa had harder path. But what you say is agenda. You are trying to tweak everything so it sounds we had the worst of it, and omitting everything else. You are talking about missed FGs, teams being hot, scores in the middle of the game, scope of game film, etc. You are cherry-picking and intentionally omitting anything not fitting your narrative. To be clear, as I said above I do agree with you about harder path, but I comment on the way you are manipulating facts. And I also agree with everything else you said - I want Mahomes to play and I think we can/will beat every team we face. And for those of you who are already commenting what will happen when we beat Chiefs with Mahomes - i.e. that some talking heads will discredit us due to him not being 100%. And what is wrong with that? Many posters here are comparing AFCCG with our first game against Chiefs and never fail to mention that Josh had his shoulder hurt. How is this different, except for the fact that Mahomes' injuries (toe and head) are much more visible? If he is limited in the game, it is pretty normal that people will mention it. But it will obviously doesn't put any asterisk on our potential SB win.
