Haha Jacksonville, Cincy and Jets have more players (2) claimed by other teams than Bills (1). Maybe we don't have such strong roster after all

Bills cuts to get to 53 [final info in the OP]

Where are next cuts? Beane asleep at the wheel again. -
Now that is a surprise. Unfortunately it seems like a good decision for Pats, there was no reason to start Cam, Jones looked good and they will be tough this year. But who cares Bills are better and will show it on the field.

Yeah I am not saying that there are not tough decisions, just that people are overreacting a little bit I think you said Jones is almost a lock and Hamlin>Thomas so its more like 7 people for 3 spots. If I had to guess I'd say Butler is gone (if Phillips looks good injury wise), Sweeney will be cut and put on PS (with very low risk). Doyle is very tricky and WR decision will be most interesting one. I do agree that Stevenson needs to be on 53 otherwise we lose him. Dodson will be also stolen if he doesn't make it. -

Huh? I didn't say all, I said almost all. And my point was that despite overall strenght of our roster, we are still releasing fringe players, not starters. It might be tougher to release Hodgins or Kumerow than Steven Sims or Duke Williams, but the difference is not huge. -

Why people keep saying that cuts are brutal? I know that we have overall strong roster but its not like we are cutting starters or something. They are imo 2-3 really tough decisions and one of them was already made yesterday. What is so tough now? Maybe one DL cut, one WR cut and Taiwan Jones situation? Almost everybody who we cut today will either be out of NFL or on our practise squad. I do get that all cuts are tough from the human point of view obviously, but that is another discussion. -

Beane doesn't have a hart to cut him sooner. -
Based on Bills history, can we expect any cuts today already?

Alphas Final Roster Stab (after PS game 3)
No_Matter_What replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there any other healthy player other than Taiwan Jones who did not play a single snap in preseason? It is really weird imo. People are saying it because he is valueable but so is Josh or Tre and they and everybody else played. -
So how do you feel about this after preseason games? Did you change your mind? I still think this is single most interesting roster battle, and still think Obada is going to be traded, hopefully for 5th round pick. I'd hate to give up on him but I just don't think they will or want part ways with Addison. On the other hand, Beane sounded pretty ruthless to me in his interview during Packers game so maybe he actually is capable to deal Addison if he finds it best for the team. Other possible option is that they actually keep all 7 on the roster, but I don't think it makes sense - we wouldn't use more than 5 on gamedays anyway.

Should Bills trade Daboll while he is “hot”?!?!

And I thought that off-season peaked about one month ago... -
Ok I misunderstood you. I was talking about games that we are (betting) favourites before them, but you are apparently talking about games Bills shouldn't lose based on the game itself.
-
Always? I didn't happen last two years imo. I don't think Cardinals game was in the shouldn't lose category, entering the game I think it was 50/50. But like I said above I agree it happens this year, we are due.
-
Gunner just like last year I think you are overally underestimating our ability to score points. You have us at 28,5 per game, we will go over 30. I think 13-4 is most likely while 14-3 is certainly possible. I do agree we lose with Chiefs again and we will look overmatched, so everybody will say that we won't be able to beat them. Until we do in PO (unless somebody like Browns do that for us). I am also pretty sure we will not sweep division and loss against Pats seems most likely. Dolphins are interesting since if we sweep them once again it starts to be serious mental problem for them. My guess is that we will beat Tampa and Titans. We are too good to lose to both Chiefs and Bucs imo. On the other hand, we are really due for some random loss when we are (big) favourites. Maybe Jags or Jets? So gun to the head I say 13-4 while losing to Chiefs, Pats, Jags and one other (WFT, Dolphins, Jets or Panthers).
-
Totally sucks. I know its weird but I sort of like Jets and I hoped they could be better that Pats and Dolphins this year and years to come and create new rivalry with Bills. This guy was great through the TC and was destroying Becton. It really sucks for him and the Jets. I feel for them. They seemed to finally have a good young passrusher after centuries and now this.

I am very close to agreeing with you (in terms of how unlikely those first five options are), but apparently 40% (72/180) of voters right now think that at least one of these options cannot be easily removed. And I think it can be easily argued that Johnson stays since he is core special teamer and also that there is zero chance we will keep 7 DEs. Maybe like you said keeping 10 DL overall including these 7 could be an option. However, I think they will prefer keeping Star, Ed, Zimmer and Phillips which will exclude this scenario. Therefore my call is still trading Obada for 6th or something, even though I wouldn't like it.

2021 Expectations for the Front 7
No_Matter_What replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you mean DL or front 7? I'd say it is better to compare front 7s due to teams playing 3-4. If you look at the chart you posted Denver has only §15M invested in DLine, since Chubb and Miller count as linebackers. So if you compare front 7s, it looks like this: 1. Bears 80M 2. Cards 78M 3. Bills 72M 4. Chiefs 70M 5, Raiders 67M League average 56M. -
Each day I wonder more how this gets resolved. Jerry was our best DE last year and he is a valuable vet presence. They seem to like Addison, he is a vet and he took a paycut to stay. I can still hardly imagine Beane cutting him. AJ is in his second year and seems to be doing good - I almost excluded him from the poll. Obada seems to be doing great and has already proven something. Groot is 1st round pick and looked great so far. He shouldn't even be in the poll. Johnson receives great praise from the coaches all the time, like today from Frasier, and he is a core special teamer, which they value a lot. Basham seems to be clearly the weakest of the bunch right now, but he is a 2nd round pick and it will be extremely risky/impossible to try to sneak him into PS. I seriously doubt we will keep 7 DEs. So what is your solution? I don't see any. I prefer trading Addison but I doubt Beane can do it. So I go with trading Obada, even though I'd hate it.

Preseason TNF: WFT at Pats / Eagles at Steelers
No_Matter_What replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't see the game, and I probably won't have time to do it, but during lunch I glanced over patsfans and they seemed to be ecstatic about Jones. They used words like poise, command, going fast through reads etc. So, how did he look like? Edit: @starrymessenger reads my mind apparently -
Thanks. Johnson you are probably correct even though I don't see any picture of him with that beard. But should be him. But guy after Poyer doesn't have mask, only glasses. Next one has mask and I'd say thats Singletary. Anybody knows who comes after Poyer?
-
I feel embarrased but I don't know all of them... Trubisky, AJE, Addison - who is next? Dawkins, Poyer - who is next? And after him is Singletary? Beasley/McKenzie - who are tho guys who follow? Knox, Diggs then Davis?
