9/26/21 Gameday Bills vs. WFT 1st Half Thread

I feel stupid by I don't understand what happened. Is it just always a live ball when it touches the ground after kickoff? If yes, why the hell McKenzie let it hit the ground? If not, what else happened? -

Amazing run by Gibson. I'd say its a good thing it happened in a game like this (provided that we'll win ofc). -

My guess that we win but Allen will hit bottom today, and will start trending upwards next week. Meanwhile people will be losing their minds. Everything will be forgotten in January after playoff run. -

2 questions. Do you agree with Joe's assessment of that deep throw to Diggs (41y catch 11:58 into 4th quarter)? He says it was purposely short and he trusted Diggs. I watched it couple of times and it still seems to me that longer throw would be safe completion. Joe might be right tho. Also, after rewatch, do you still think he was better in 1st half? I am not able to see subtle stuff as his footwork, so I am judging by bad and good plays mostly, and it seems pretty close to me. In 1st half, he had high uncatchable throws to Diggs and Singletary, short INT-worthy throw to Diggs, one more throw touched by Miami defender and INT (although I don't think this was a bad throw, it was into tight window and it was just great play by Howard). On the other hand, he had two amazing throws to Sanders and Diggs on the second TD and couple of really smart throwaways. In 2nd half, he missed open Sanders and Diggs, threw ugly back foot throw to Knox (which could've been intercepted if not for smart Knox play), late/slow throw to McKenzie almost intercepted and then deep throw to Diggs discussed above. On the other hand, he had two amazing throws to Diggs and Knox on the third TD. Overall, his performance seemed pretty equal to me in both halves. -
It is crazy. But what I find even more crazy is that they show such stat immediately. Seriously, how do they know? I mean I guess it is easy for them to find out if you know what you are looking for, but who and why comes with idea to find out if there was a score like that before? And same goes for many other stats.

I wanted to start this thread last week and forgot to. Now after Dolphins game when the dude balled again it becomes even more interesting. Taron Johnson is UFA after this season, but I guess we can agree that he is worth keeping. Do you guys think it is possible that Beane tries to extend him now? If so, how much he can get? Or do you think talks will start after season? I am not sure what is Beane's history with respect to midseason extensions. And at what point do you think Bills will say that he is asking too much, let him go and will try to find someone similar late in the draft? I am no expert but I would assume that extending him now should be cheaper since it would give him some guaranteed money which provides him some security in case he gets injured later this season. So I'd try to do it now provided he can be kept for reasonable money (which I am not sure how much it is).

Bills 35, Fish 0 Game Balls!

Epenesa was amazing today. It also shows how basic stats can be deceiving. Guy has 1 assisted tackle in the stat sheet, but he had pressure every other snap and created couple of sacks for others. Whole defense was outstanding.- 74 replies

This means that you disagree with him calling that "drop" a drop? Because I was wondering about this. People keep talking about some Sanders drop, and I didn't remember any. So, I rewatched the game and I guess they are talking about 4th quarter play shortly before blocked punt, where he caught the ball on the seam route but immediately after that it was knocked out by defender. I am no expert and maybe somehow he could hold onto the ball, but calling this "drop" seems like a huge stretch to me.

I agree with the first part. This is not typical situation for McD's Bills. As for the second, it will obviously tell us lot about the team. But the season is really long, and if we rebound it may happen well after the Dolphins game. I can easily see a scenario when we lose next Sunday, start the season like 2-4 or something and then get to the playoffs as 12-5 or 11-6 team with strong season end and win it all. To me it is hilarious how so many people overreact to one game. I can't imagine what happens on TBD if we somehow lose next one, which is fairly possible. Defense may play worse, offensive playcalling can be still suspect, Allen might be better but still not quite himself, couple more circus catches by Gesicki or Waddle, some decisions of refs not going our way, lucky bounce for Miami here and there and voila - 0-2 start. I am just saying every season is different. To me, Sunday changed nothing about our SB aspirations. If anything, I'd say it was a good thing.

What exactly was that 4th down play supposed to be?
No_Matter_What replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The other one was much worse. This looked like bad playcall in hindsight, but McD's decision to play 4&8 with no offensive rhythm instead of trying 53y FG after he didn't go for two shorter ones was extremely bad decision. I don't remember him making worse in game decision. -

Let the doom begin! I am not happy but whatever. Allen was worse than any game last season, offense was not clicking, Daboll made som weird calls, McDermott made some really bad ones, one ST play broke our neck. Defense was fine and did its job. Refs didn't help too but they didn't decide this game. We will get better, I am not afraid. Allen was probably too amped, he will settle down. -
Taiwan Jones - Elite Gunner and now Captain
No_Matter_What replied to DasNootz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What does being a captain means anyway? I am just asking since having 8 captains seems super odd in the first place. I might be ignorant about US habits but most sports I am aware of have usually one captain per team, which makes perfect sense. -
