I respectfully disagree. You are consistent with this theory but I think you are being little too dramatic and at the same time wrong. Did our SB chances just suffer a hit? Sure. Are we doomed because we do not have 3 elite players? Hell no. I think you are wrong from many reasons. 1. Theory does not work in general. You can win SB with 1 elite player (QB) and otherwise great team, or you can win with 5 elite players and average team, as well as average QB and elite defense. There are many ways. 2. Even if you were right, are you sure that when the playoff comes, we will not have 3-4 elite players again? Are you sure that Poyer is not elite player already? And are you sure other will not be when January comes? What about Oliver? Edmunds? Knox? I'd say we are not very far from the moment when we can say that either of them is a difference maker. 3. If you say that you need 3-4 elite players to win SB, who will even represent AFC in SB? The only team which fits the condition are Chiefs imo (Mahomes, Hill, Kelce). Are you saying that we will not be able to beat them anymore without Tre? As for other teams, who are these 3-4 elite players on Ravens? Titans? Patriots? Chargers? Bengals? I don't see more than 2 on any AFC team. There are couple of NFC teams which have 3-4 elite players, but I seriously doubt that AFC team (whoever it is) will not stand a chance due to having of less elite players. 4. Are you sure that all SB teams had at least 3 elite players? Granted I am no expert, but which truly elite players had 2017 Eagles? 2015 Broncos? I am only asking about last 6 years, since I haven't followed NFL before, so I am sure same question could be asked about many teams before.

Point is that we most likely split with Patriots. If we do that, we can afford same number of other losses as them to win the division. So if we lose to Tampa, we need them to drop one. The sooner the better, so why not now against Titans.

How exactly did he "ignore" the trenches? First four (!) Bills draft picks in 2021 were OL or DL, our first pick year before was DL, we got Star back this year, he resigned Williams and Feliciano and it is hard to argue that at least first one was above average in pass blocking last year. You can say that he is making wrong moves but he is not ignoring DL and OL. And I am always wondering what are fans expecting. In my understanding there were like 3 or 4 interior linemen available in FA who were "sure" upgrades versus what we had. But there are 32 teams in the league, competing for same players. Some players want to go elsewhere, some just want money and maybe Beane didn't want to overpay (which is a good thing in general). Maybe he really should draft Humphrey instead of Basham, but it is not like he has thousands of options and he is blind to see them. Again, we can always argue that he made wrong moves but he is not ignoring trenches.

I fully expect us to get back on track soon and easily get into to the playoffs where everything is possible. We are much better than it seems right now. But many other scenarios are possible ofc.

Metcalf is very specific case many people loved him but there was apparently league-wide consensus among GMs that he was very limited. People looking for pitchforks have no clue what they are talking about imo. Like I said somewhere else we have 5th best regular season record in last 3 years and just were in AFCCG. Beane has apparently made wrong decisions in both draft and FA but all GMs do those. Lets at least let this season play out and then revisit his decisions (and compare them to the rest of the league).
