  1. Super insightful question. Something that I think gets missed when fans take screen shots of passing plays and start circling open guys (which obviously is a dumb thing to do). The overwhelming majority of completed passes are based on the first read. Thing is, that happens because of pre-snap reads and guys knowing where the ball needs to go before the snap.
  2. It was mostly a commentary of how dogmatic you were about your opinion. "No excuses" implies that your opinion is so obvious that to disagree or to do anything else would be an absolute failure. It is ridiculous.
  3. Message Board: "Hey, we have this one bright spot on the OL" Message Board Hero: "He is doing well at that position, lets move him to a less important position" Message Board: "Wait, but he's doing go..." Message Board Hero: "I am right. Do my plan. No EXCUSES!!!"
  4. No, its great when players produce right away. Despite fan perception, NFL players still do not NEED to produce right away. In fact, NFL players, for the overwhelming most part, do not, in fact, produce right away. The real difference? Social media has fans all riled up.
  5. Why is everyone so quick to label a guy a bust? He is barely a few games into his second year. Besides, Allen barely is even throwing to the middle of the field, and new QBs are notorious for relying on their RBs and TEs for completions. Just chill, there is a lot of time and space for him to get better
  6. Its weird being on the other side of this type of comment. I used to be a BBMB person. I was CJspilledmyjuice. I'm usually a bit of a homer.
  7. Again, good play. I just don't think its that great. He looks at the WR, sees the backer breaking for him, and then looks up at Croom. Its not like he is manipulating a safety with his eyes and going to the other side of the field.
  8. I though that when I said "he did great with what he asked me to do" that would send the message that I didn't think he "sucks." Apparently I was wrong. That Croom TD throw was awesome. But it was one read and then a wide open WR right next to his field of vision. If he missed that hed deserve to be cut. Conversely, him making the throw does not warrant over excitement. I mean, again, I'm happy he did it, but that isn't a throw to get excited about.
  9. If I'm being honest, I didn't think he looked that good. His best throw of the day was the drop to Benjamin. To me, it felt like most if his completions were short throws that were a product of the scripted offense drawn up by Daboll. That is why so many of the yards were YAC. It appeared that he wasn't really making a ton of decisions or even reading the defense. He just immediately got rid of the ball to facilitate designed plays. While that is great, it just seems that he cant be considered on the way to being a franchise QB unless he is reading the defense, pre and post snap, and then making tough decisions. Again, he did great with what he was asked to do. But yesterdays success seemed to be more about Daboll than Allen. I don't really care about the running, though it is nice and will help keep plays alive later on.
  10. He sounds like literally every coach in the league. The one year we got a coach outside of the box, Rex Ryan, he was lambasted for not sticking to the coach speak. Press conferences are the dumbest way to evaluate a coach.
  11. And don't try to sway me with facts or an explanation, I belligerently stand by my opinion! This is the NFL A + ? = Wins. Not my job to understand "?"
  12. They made the playoffs last year. And they did it with less talent than we have had in a while. They clearly know how to coach. As far as the Free Agents, those weren't signings for this year. Those signings were about moving forward. Players they wanted next year and the year after. We tend to look at free agency in this one year vacuum, but to a GM it is about what the contracts do for your for the life of the contract. There is a whole additional element to it that fans dont even consider.
  13. The plan was to draft a QB and let him develop, clear space on the cap, and look to the future. This year never mattered. Whether we were bad, average, or somewhere in the middle. It never mattered. I am sure that is a tough pill to swallow, but you gotta just accept it.
  14. Has the Bills fan base really gone this crazy??? It was a PLANNED rebuild. How can anybody be this upset in the middle of a PLANNED rebuild???
  15. It was a planned rebuild. You don't have to like it, but to pretend it was an accident and proof of incompetence is silly.
  16. 1. "But he passed on" arguments have been and always will be the worst message board argument for evaluation of GM. Typically, all or most GMs (not necessarily the case for Mahomes) pass on guys too. 2. Mahomes was as raw, if not more so, than Allen coming out. To pretend like one was a better prospect than the other is silly. 3. Any Reid makes every QB he touches look wayyyy better than they really are. Literally true of every QB he has ever touched. Mahomes in 90% of other coach's systems would be average at best.
  17. You mean the HC and GM that in one year has had more success than any combo in the last 17 years?
  18. So I used to be a big BBMB guy, but I had to leave because it was just so insane. I feel like the BBMB closing has caused this forum to go right down hill, becoming BBMB part 2. Its gotten so bad I had to finally sign up and post.
  19. This coach ended a playoff drought LAST YEAR! Its like, because there was a 17 year playoff drought, as a collective fanbase we have lost our minds.
  20. I am amped on this team. Young core, ton of cap room, and a coach that has proven he can get us to the playoffs. This is how you build up.
  21. Maybe the fanbase that ran Doug Marrone out of town, the guy who is now the head of what appears to be the AFC's next perennial playoff team, shouldn't be the ones to judge McDermott, the guy who ended a 17 year old playoff drought.
  22. "If I wanted to make some money, I'll go drill another well" What part isn't accurate?
  23. For years the complaint is that they (the front office) was not addressing the QB position. Now the complaint is they did not address the O-line before addressing QB. D***** if you do, D***** if you dont.
  24. Which of course ignores Pegula's statement (which is reflected in the fact of the matter) that if owning the Bills was about profit, he would buy an oil well not a sports franchise.
