  1. A qb rating would be based on year long performance. This thread is about progression. He has gotten more accurate than when he started. Why would the progression stop?
  2. If this were the BBMB, that quote would 100% be my new signature. Can't be a football guy unless your'e a winner that wants to be around other winners. The Dude deserves better. He's a winner.
  3. Your player tells you hes good to go and the docs clear the guy, you listen to the player. This is football. Guys play through pain. I have yet to meet a person who speaks of themselves in this manner that is, in fact, a winner.
  4. Yeah, and McDermott leading this team to 9 wins with an absolute lack of talent had nothing to do with it. Absolutely nothing. Plays like that happen every week through out the league. Dalton's throw was just well timed and made for an exciting ending. That same game, with that same throw, happens five weeks earlier. No one for a moment attributes the playoff appearance to Any Dalton. You should be embarrassed for thinking this is a good (or logical) argument. More importantly, you should be ashamed for that lack the character your demonstrate for threatening (which is weird in its own right) to not stay loyal to your team.
  5. Got us to the biggest game the Bills have had in the last 17 years. This is the worst version of the eye test.
  6. Everyone hates conservative play calls, especially because its so easy to do from the couch. Problem is, most of the people complaining about coaching do not have the foggiest idea what coaches do day in and day out, aside from situational football. And even then they are operating with the benefit of hindsight. Hauschka is one of our best players. When the game is on the line, you go with the talent. The offense wasn't exactly stellar. There was no reason to believe they could continue to reliably move the ball when McD went for the 55 yarder. It was the smart choice.
  7. I think a solid offensive line would make a much greater difference for this offense than a WR would. Allens struggles right now have more to do with the lack of running game and constant pass rush. Sure our WR have drops, but they are getting open. But aside from those handful of plays, the OL line problems are popping up on every single snap.
  8. Its not like it’s an obscure stat. Its the only stat. It’s the sole stat WRs are judged by. I understand cherry picking sucks, but the guy was a thousand yard receiver. That isn’t cherry picking.
  9. So then the only way to get a WR is through the draft. It’s not unfair, but your premise means we can never get a WR through trade or FA because the team before has given up on the guy. I disagree with the premise, but again I totally get it and think it’s reasonable. And, honestly, in any event, for a third and a couple years of play, I think it was worth the risk.
  10. I guess that isn't as bad. I don't think McD was convinced NP was a starter. i do think he wanted him to be a long term back up, thus needing reps just like any other QB. I also don't think he did it just to prove he was right. It looked to me like he did it because NP won the QB competition before the season. But now I am way off track--I co-sign everything you are saying about Schoop. That sounds exactly right. He will misinterpret an argument to fit it into a straw man narrative he creates to prove himself right.
  11. Wait....I hate Shoop, but he was right. This is bsolutely absurd. In what world would an NFL coach start a guy just to prove he was right. That is some crazy conspiracy theory stuff right there.
  12. I see being "right" as being based on the decision. The outcome, however, is a different story. For example, lets say we trade for Drew Brees in the prime of his career, but two games in he tears his ACL and decides to retire. The decision was "right," but the outcome was obviously something different. Now, KB is not Brees, but hopefully you get my point.
  13. <hard eye roll> The dude had two 1000 yard seasons (almost-second was like 940) and was on his way to a third when he was traded. He wasn't "bad." Beane thought they could make it work in Buffalo. It didn't. It happens. But he is right, you gotta take your shots. I don't even think he was wrong. He took a chance and it didn't work. That doesn't make it wrong. Wrong is making a trade that was destined to fail in the first place. I don't see why that would be true with KB.
  14. Dude, I'm second and my league and barely holding on to my playoff spot, but I'm still going for it. Jets have given up the fourth most points to WRs, Zay is the clear number 1 on this team, and Allen is starting to sling it. This and the rest of my WRs are terrible.
  15. He makes better arguments than Murphy, but certainly not better than Sal. But, arguments tend to look really good when you agree with them, and pretty terrible when you disagree.
  16. Does he really seem unengaged? With KB, there was video evidence of him giving up at the end of routes? Is the same true of Clay? Here's the thing, alot of this decision likely had to do with whats going on behind the scenes. I have a strong feeling KB was not a team guy and was becoming a problem. I base that on nothing other than the Cam thing, taking off routes, and the fact that their was a time he was scene as a first rate #1. On the flip side, I have no reason to believe Clay is equally a problem. Thus, I'm not sure he should be cut in the same way KB was cut.
  17. I wouldn't split Dawkins and Teller. I would let them continue to develop together. And I don't trust a NE tackle. Brady gets rid of the ball so quickly it is difficult tell how an O-lineman would do in our offense, where the QB holds on to the ball longer than any one else in the league. But I don't really know much about Brown, so I could be way off base.
  18. The difference is we are now mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Giving up on the season because of a few bad games is irrational.
  19. For what its worth, if we added Flowers, I would now feel pretty excited about it. Before, I would have thought it was a bad idea. You made some good arguments.
  20. My bad, I read the wrong column. I suppose part of this is I just don't trust a Pats DE. Jones was good, but aside from that, how many go on to play well? Its such a scheme defense. Maybe I'm still jaded by Anderson? The key to not getting in salary cap hell is evaluating how much of an upgrade you get for your dollars. Whatever we pay Flowers, which will be more than we pay Murphy, you will have to tack on the extra $5 million you paid to cut Murphy. Does he get you enough additional value? I have a hard time believing that. But that is also because I think Murphy is a really good player when he is on the field. I just don't think his injury problems with the Bills have been that bad. Most if it has to do with the narrative that followed him. If he gets hurt again this year, maybe. Otherwise, I am just as comfortable sticking with him.
  21. That's fair. The only thing I will say is that Flowers has 4.5 sacks and 19 tackles, but he has played the whole year. On a per game basis, he has less production. That is without considering the DL rotation the Bills use. That isn't a need thing. McDermott firmly believes in rotating his guys, whether its Hughes, Williams, or Star. Flowers would have less production on this defense. He isn't an upgrade.
  22. Few things. First, the cap hit is not year to year. When you sign and cut guys, you do some based on how it affects the cap over a period of years. So it is not that simple of a trade off. Second, an extra 5 million on the tens of million we already have does not make the difference. Third, who are they bringing in during Free Agency that plays better than Trent at DE, necessitating the extra cap space? Fourth, Trent has 4 sacks in 8 games(?) That isn't "nothing." A half sack per game is not great, but it is perfectly average, in a league where average is really hard to find (Also, DE is wayyyyy more than just pass rushing; setting the edge and run stops matter, things which he does well). Do I want better? Sure. But creating holes just to create holes, especially on a team that needs upgrades all over the offense, is the opposite of "common sense."
  23. I understand bringing new guys in, but why cut Murphy and take the cap hit? What does that get you?
  24. I'm sorry, what? I understand the season, but the locker room? What have you seen the last few weeks that makes you think he has lost the locker room? Murphy has decent production for a rotational guy. Why do we need to cut him? What do we gain by doing that? Its not like we need the cap room. What is this thread?
