  1. “Zay doesn’t play well in the big moments” so you isolated discrete moments in a season to pass your judgment about Zay. Do you know what “cherry pick” means? Because that is the definition of cherry picking.
  2. Oh. You’re one of those posters. I’ll just move along.
  3. Eh. All FA contracts are bigger than fans want them to be. Thats just the reality of NFL contracts. Stars may be a bit high, but Murphy is getting paid like a middle of the road DE. It is what it is. I am waiting to see the big deals before passing judgment. I'm not going to pick apart low value, low meaning contracts.
  4. I think Beane is more likely to add a high-value and a low-value WR. That low-value WR will not push Zay out. People forget that before we drafted Zay, the Panthers (including Beane) were going to draft him. I think Beane likes Zay. Giving up on a second round pick that he wanted in the draft after two seasons (with #2 production) is highly unlikely. You have to take Beanes comments in context. They got burned by Kelvin, had to cut Foster early, and were throwing together pieces through the remainder of the year. WR obviously needs to be addressed, and they will want more out of Zay, but I just don't think they were criticizing Zay as much as they unit as a whole.
  5. Those aren't exactly cap-killer contracts. They are low enough that they are worth the risk.
  6. I think you are getting too bogged down in terms like "WR1" and slot. At the NFL level, coaches don't really think in those terms. They put WRs all over the field. They categorize WRs by their skill sets and role in the team. Even the third WR on the depth chart plays well over 50% of the snaps, with the fourth guy still getting upwards of 20% of snaps. Where they line up in a "base set" is irrelevant to playing time. We will obviously keep Foster, we will bring in a new guy with a high-ish pick or in FA, but after that it is all Zay. He is the most senior WR on this team and has chemistry with Josh Allen. He is a high pick that is still in the middle of his development phase. I appreciate all your arguments, I really do, but there is less than zero chance he is not on this team next year.
  7. Re-read the chart. They had an identical catch percentage. This is an important, driving factor for Beane. And it is something that is almost NEVER considered on this board.
  8. Teams don't need WR1, just a compilation of guys that get the job done. Williams is a bad option because he is going to cost a fortune. We are better off drafting a WR in the second and letting the corps grow with Allen.
  9. Wrong Duke, but that is for sure an immediate dis-qualifier.
  10. Last night was what people mean when they say "teams will figure it out in year two" The same is not true of Allen (as much). Allen's runs are on scrambles. They aren't a scheme trick to be figured out. On top of that, he is a much better passer. In five years, Jackson will be a complete after thought (I think, that is as strong a prediction as I've ever made)
  11. He was Any Reid's assistant coach for years. Andy Reid let him go so he could build the resume to get him to a HC job some day. Those two facts says so much about what this guy is and what he can do.
  12. Culley has an impeccable resume and took this position to try to climb the ladder and eventually become a HC. He would never move to WR coach. But with his experience, he surely knows plenty about the QB position.
  13. I signed up for the Athletic just for E. Wood. The Athletic ended up being worth every penny. The best content out there right now.
  14. That isn't responsive at all to what I just said. A vague patter of decline doesn't change that so much happens behind closed doors that we don't see. I also just realized that Kelly Skipper was the RB coach for Oakland for seven years. You only put two years. That doesn't do your credibility any favors. Stats from those years greatly changes the analysis.
  15. This is a perfect example of how difficult it is. For all we know, the room looks like this: RB Coach: Hey, we need to do x,y,z O-Line Coach: No, we need to do 1,2,3 Reality: Team does 1,2,3 and it doesn't work (turns out there is good reason to think x,y,z would have worked) So let me ask, why are we firing the RB coach?
  16. I think it is almost impossible for fans to analyze these position coaches. We literally have no idea what role they play behind close doors. Are they just coaching technique? Do they implement the coordinators plans? Do they draw up plays of their own? It could literally be anything.
  17. This should end the conversation. Knowing this, then still making the trade, would just destroy everything that has been built. Every mantra they have used would ring hollow. I can't even express how impossibly unlikely the Bills acquiring AB would be.
  18. I hate PFF. I simply cannot understand how they can grade players without the All-22. That said, he played like a rookie. He had bad games and good games. Exactly what you would hope. Here is the thing that gets missed, we played in a base defense 20% of the time (the NFL as a whole was like 13%). Modern defenses do not need two OLBs. We are set at LB this year and probably next, depending on Edmunds trajectory.
  19. Not to mention the problem with our run defense had more to do with not setting the edge than it did with what happened in the heart of the front 7
  20. Ehhhhh. I am a huge Edmunds guy. I think he has played really well, I think he should stay a MLB, and I think he will be a cornerstone of our defense. All that being said, this award is for stat counters. NE was not a good game, but he still got 11 tackles. It doesn't matter if the tackles were 5 yards past the LOS, he still gets credit for the tackle. So on the stat sheet it looks great.
  21. If it was any other year, I would be a hard pass. But we have nothing but cap room. We can afford to over pay here and there. There really is no down side to picking up the 5th year options, aside from shear principle, but this is coming from someone who doesn't actually have to pay the money.
  22. Yeah, but it’s not like we lost out on interviews or something because of the delay. We literally got interviews with all the people we wanted. Now, some may have chosen other destinations, but there is no evidence that the few day delay had any impact. You are just making stuff up.
  23. There is literally no evidence or that. In fact, just the contrary, while it is true we lost out on others, we were a part of those conversations. We didn’t lose out on anyone for not acting quick enough.
  24. His point was that he got the most out of a team with very little talent, particularly on offense. That is what you want from your coach. That is what he did.
