Right Tackle market shaping up
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to CaptnCoke11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember the contract Pears got a few years back? He was terrible and he got paid. There is a massive lack of OL talent in the league. -
He wasn't here that long. There really isn't much incentive for him to hang around other than the possibility of a big pay day. If he isn't getting it now, there really is no reason for him not to test free agency. Odds are he will get a handsome offer. I'd be surprised if Beane commits to a big pay day for him. I'd love to have Phillips back, but its a bit of a long shot.

Dude...youre gonna cite to Anderson? The Barkley game was a product of him hitting deep over the top throws; the remainder were dump offs underneath. The ypa was artificially elevated by the deep shots. If there is a knock on Allen it is that he doesn't throw underneath. This of course explains why he can look more accurate than 52% and still have the low completion percentage. But, again, its a point you refuse to engage, choosing instead to continue to repeat that he is simply inaccurate.
-
Mind numbing or not, you have never actually engaged with the warrants of the argument being made. You essentially just repeat over and over: No! He needs have a higher completion percentage. It doesn't matter how many ways people problematize your analysis, you just continue to repeat that the percentage needs to be higher.

Tyrod was part of their plans....for a trade! ha! I think you are right, there is for sure a need element to every pick. But they can't come out and say that. I think it would hurt their draft strategy. Lets say they are drafting for need. A team that has the same need would potentially jump the Bills to ensure their pick. Now, I'm not sure the gamesmanship is fooling anyone, but still, you have to play the game.

Solution to bad calls?

Nothing. Human error is a part of the game. Moreover, human error goes both ways. It evens out in the flow of the game. -

Travel is a drop in the bucket for the money they make on these international games. Forget the game, forget the market. Think just about the added advertising for getting a game on TV at the 9:00 am slot. -
I forget where I read it, but none of these guys have any idea what they are doing. Teams actually have their draft boards put together prior to the Senior Bowl. What is really happening is teams are using the Senior Bowl and Combine to confirm what they thought they already knew. So long as there are no serious injuries or personal issues guys stay pat. Teams only move off a guy if there is something seriously wrong. On the other hand, no body is "rising" because he ran a really fast 40 at the combine or benched a ton of reps. What is really happening when guys "rise" or "fall" is the draft "experts" are starting to pick up on what teams are thinking. The combine is important because that is when the draft experts start getting inside info into what is going on inside the team organizations, due in part to the massive media-scouting exposure. Thats why the mocks change so radically. The whole thing is a massive racket. It only works because fans are football starved and are looking for any drama they can get.

I would expect either very few trades this year or extremely low value trades. The draft chart doesn't mean much this year. Very few teams need QBs, and there are very few QBs worth drafting high up. That drives the trade market. With the decreased emphasis on needing to get to the top, there will be fewer trades and the value will go down.

Eagles officially choose Wentz over Foles
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, but your point didn't make any sense... The competition is significantly more difficult. The game plan is more detailed. The preparation is extensive. You are getting your best play from the best players in the league. You are not playing games against terrible Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins teams. Take the Chiefs for example, or even the Bengals, classic regular season champions. How do they do in the playoffs? -

Whoa, where did all this HOF talk come from. I'm just saying that a QB who wins the superbowl should be valued higher than a QB that had a good regular season. -

I stand by my opinion that getting a team to the playoffs is not nearly as hard as winning every game in the playoffs and super bowl. And, frankly, I don't think that is such an outrageous opinion that it deserves to be mocked. -

That is a stellar comparison. But even then, the quarterback wasn't nearly as important as it is now. -

You are making some ticky tacky distinctions. I can concede that Foles did not get them to the playoffs for their Superbowl run. But that is the easy part. The hard part is making a run through the playoffs and winning the superbowl. Thats what matters. Thats what only a handful of guys in the league can do. And thats what he can do. As far as this year, he dragged them into the playoffs and then won a game (and came close against the Saints) that they had no business winning. You are not giving him nearly enough credit for what is a historic accomplishment. He is obviously the best back up in the league, but more than that he is, at the absolute least, an average to above average starter. Wentz hasn't done a thing in comparison.
