    Sure, things can change. But he has ALWAYs been the TE that blocks DEs 1 on 1. Maybe he is getting old, that is possible.

    He had all of 4 holding penalties last year. He has always been the TE to block DEs 1 on 1, and he has never had a penalty history. There is no reason to think it was anything more than an aberration.

    DiMarco can, just not as well. Catching the ball is just the “cherry on top” for the FB position. DiMarco isnt great, especially at go routes (famously), but he is ok at it.

    A fullback is a guy that can block in space, first and foremost. A hybrid/h-back cannot do that—they are hybrids because they can do the ballcarying/pass catching part, but not the blocking part. Those guys are useless, though. If you need a pass catcher, play a TE or WR.

    There are strategic benefits to running 21 personnel. Just ask the Pats or the 49ers. You think he is a hybrid? I always considered him a true FB.

    TE/FB hybrids are just TEs that are too small to be a matchup problem, but are also not good lead blockers like a FB. They are almost always useless.

    Its a serious point. Something I dont think we should take lightly. Drop one game early that we should have won, and the next thing you know we have a “must win” against a tough team like the Seahawks or Steelers.
