  1. What do the percentages mean? That 67% of TEs drafted in the first round go on to start? For how long do they start? I don't quite follow this.
  2. Yeah- thats totally fair. And you know what, Oliver is exciting. I'd be excited if we drafted him. Its just this whole sitting out bowl games thing strikes me as a troubling trend.
  3. I mean more loyalty to the guys you play with. It is 100% true that in most of the NFL guys will play despite being injured (or something else) to stand with their teammates. Outside the case of injury, think about contract hold outs--how was Bell received by the guys in the locker room when he sat out? Well, with Bosa and Oliver, guess what they have done-they essentially pulled a Bell on their teammates. Is that the guy you want on the Bills? Will teams draft them anyway? Sure, some will. That doesn't mean all, or even most, will. And even if they do, the guy may fall on the draft chart because the risk isn't worth the reward. Oliver was originally projected to go top 3. Now he has fallen to closer to the middle of the first. Why do you think that is? Might have to do with that fight he had with his coach and the fact that he sat out.
  4. Yes. What makes you say that? Honestly, I don't know what NFL teams think about players sitting out. I know what I think--that guys who sit out are prone to making financial decisions that prioritize their well being over the teams. That is 100% their right. Heck, its maybe even the smart choice from their perspective, especially because you can expect NFL teams to make similar financial decisions. But fair or not, its not a guy I would want with my top 10 pick. I want someone who is irrationally loyal and intensely motivated. Especially with that pick.
  5. That is all true, but TE has the highest bust potential of any position on the field, save for maybe quarterback, and even then I'm not so sure. 99% of TEs drafted are not Gronk, Kelce, Little--even only 10% get to that +600 mark. Considering how low the likelihood is that you are getting a good TE, the benefit of an awesome TE does not outweigh the risk.
  6. I think this is a situation you follow the old rules-if the guy isn't your LT, you do not draft him top ten.
  7. 90% of opinions on how a guy played in "a game" are usually based on one or two plays. No body is watching the national championship game and focusing on the left tackle. They only notice when something bad happens, and that is thereafter there opinion for the rest of the game. Johnah could have been ELITE the entire game, but because of that one (maybe even two) plays, he was horrible for the entire game. I don't think its a 50/50 proposition. More guys CANNOT make the transition than can.
  8. People are ripping this suggestion like Bill belichek isn’t notorious from switching his defense from 3-4 to 4-3 and back.
  9. I hate the idea of drafting a tight end in the first round. Excluding the all time greats - Gronk, Tony G, etc - a really good NFL tight end is not worth a first round pick. Think about it. Lets assume you draft a really good tight end, by NFL standards. That TE is the equivalent of the worst blocker on the line and maybe the third best WR on the team. A really good TE is good for like 600+ yards. Zay got that many yards, and he is only a WR2, but still the board wants to see him cut. Why use a first round pick for that kind of production.
  10. With Peterman gone we have no one to hate. I mean, I guess there is Trent and Zay, but its just not the same.
  11. I could be wrong, but I get the sense TE have one of the highest bust rates. I just hate the idea of using a first round pick on a guy that would be the worst blocker on the line and one of the worst WRs on the team. I mean, a good year for a tight end is 600+ yards. That is like a bad WR2, average WR3. Why use a first round pick for that production?
  12. That would be awesome, but Miller got signed before Spain and to a much larger contract. That wasn't an accident. Now, I know that doesn't necessarily mean Spain will be a significant upgrade, but it does reflect how front offices view the two players. If the standard is just that Spain was a starter, well so was Miller. And I'll admit I haven't really watched Spain play, but I am skeptical. And I meant to add, there is also something to be said for offensive systems. Do you remember how good Levitre was with the Bills? Then he got that big contract, went to a different system, and he was never the same. I am super nervous that Spain was a product of the Titan's system.
  13. For as excited as we are, he really is just an average starter. There is a chance he may not even be that much better than Miller.
  14. Maybe, but he was drafted in the second round. Shoot, I think if you actually look at the numbers, he actually had played as well as most first round WRs. Now, obviously juju was there and we did trade up, so I guess you are right there. It’s an absurd basis to judge Zay, but to each their own.
  15. The hate for Zay on this board is mind boggling.
  16. Continuity matters, sometimes more than talent. And one off-season doesn't get you the kind of continuity that matters, especially with the collective bargaining limitations. And don't get me wrong, Beane had to do something, and this was probably the best option. I'm just nervous.
  17. Its pretty cool that Beane is putting this much work into the OL in free agency, but I would be surprised if this pans out how most fans hope. These guys are all fine individually, but its a huge question mark how they will play together. Lineman, as well as most free agents in the league, have trouble adjusting to systems. We are asking an entire group of guys to do just that. I am about as nervous for this as I would be if our line from last year was returning.
  18. Is he honestly any better than Shaq, Trent or Hughes? Maybe he is a bit more talented, though untapped. Wouldn't we be better off just drafting a guy rather than throwing the pics away.
  19. I'm all in on this. With respect to DK, I am leery of guys whose biggest claim to fame is great measurable and a stellar combine performance. It is mind boggling to me that people would ignore on field performance and favor a combine performance. Oliver reminds me of Dion Jordan. I remember watching his tape and thinking that Jordan either made an amazing play or was completely blown up. There was no in between. He would make these stellar plays, then be an absolute liability the rest of the time. That is pretty much Oliver. He is either making a tackle for a loss, or getting completely removed from the play.
  20. This. He is a nice player, but you are better off trying to hit a home run in the draft. I think Gore is about leadership and that type of stuff. It seems pretty obvious they either really believe in their young guys or plan to draft someone.
  21. He reminds me of an anti-vaxer. Like sure, they are fun to laugh and point at, but if you make the mistake of engaging them, they will drive you mad with frustration.
  22. I had to block Mr. W.E.O. It was this kind of belligerence that makes him impossible to talk to. He is not nearly bright enough to be as confident as he is.
  23. I'm pretty sure he is calling us racist. She is running for Adam McFadden's seat.
  24. God I hate it when this board has an ol' fashioned "stats-off"
