  1. Yes, because "legit veteran #1 receivers" are frequently cut after training camp.
  2. See, I just think those excellent receivers look excellent when they have elite QBs not in their rookie years throwing to them. Think about John Brown. When Flacco was throwing to him, he was on pace for 1000 yards. When the rookie came in, he fell off the map. Zay will look as good as Allen looks. If Allen progresses, so too will Zay. The guy is more than capable, and the fact that he progressed so much last year is telling that he has an upward trajectory.
  3. Got any examples? A link? Maybe that was true his rookie year, but this sounds more like a narrative than anything based on actual fact.
  4. This is just so obvious to me I cannot even contemplate how people can complain about not having this mysterious "WR1." Honestly, with maybe 5 exceptions or so, the "WR1" is a complete product of the QB, and a guy that in a system with a lesser QB is not a "WR1"
  5. I have never been violently agreed with before, but now that I have, I must say, it is electric.
  6. That makes sense, but what I am really driving at is that the Shaq pick gets bashed often, but no one ever considers what the alternatives were. There really weren't any.
  7. Fair, but its not like he has had a stellar career.
  8. I am not sure the problem is the negativity as much as the condescension and self-righteousness.
  9. Super interesting question. I am not really one to refuse to buy sponsors' products in protest. I have noticed that a ton in politics, and I find it to be gross. It is one thing not to consume a product that I dislike, but is another to say that because I dislike a product, no one should be allowed to consume it. If there are enough people that like WGR, they should be allowed to keep it. Protesting sponsors spooks them, and causes them to abandon the product, regardless of that product's popularity or profitability.
  10. Who would you have picked in his place? I say that, because if you go back in look, there weren't really any better options. Maybe in the next round there were, but those were all reaches at that spot.
  11. I hate JW and Schopp, with a passion. But there is nothing I can do. In my opinion, it is worse to draw attention to it, argue with them online, etc. It just draws attention to them. I have just decided to stop listening. I have unfollowed them on Twitter. I have the only thing a consumer can do--I stopped consuming their product. If enough people do what I have done, they will go away eventually. If not, try podcasts.
  12. The difference in production is negligible. Except maybe Fitz who will randomly light it up for a few weeks. What really matters is how they contribute to the locker room. I know Allen and Barkley are pretty good friends. Thats the sort of healthy environment that helps a QB get better.
  13. Dude, it was an extension. That contract is given out dozens of times every year in the NFL. But you act like it is so novel. I just don't get it.
  14. On the whole, you make some really good comments, but every time you say this you just lose all credibility, and I'm left thinking this guy has no idea what he is talking about.
  15. The problem is that when there are multiple teams "in" on one guy, teams will sometimes do stupid things like give injured players multi-year deals. That is why this whole thing feels wrong. I think he is holding out for a better deal.
  16. This whole thing feels off. I am nervous that whatever team signs him will have to pay wayyyy too much and end up getting very little production.
  17. This is a bit of a reach. Gronk hasn't been the same guy/even on the field in the last two years, and the passing game has remained dominant.
  18. Thanks to the combine and NFL draft coverage, fans now value straight line speed (40 times) over actual football skills. It is totally bizarre.
  19. I really appreciate his comment on scheme fit. I feel like fans don't really understand scheme fit, unless its the difference between a 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE.
  20. It is pretty well documented that adding Anderson to the room is what turned Allen’s rookie season around. I don’t know why we would cut that guy in favor of an undrafted rookie qb that was fun to watch in college.
  21. Stills is awesome! I’m stoked he signed with us. He isn’t kicking Zay off the team. He might get the fifth spot, but that would be it. He isn’t talented enough to beat out Zay.
  22. 1. Ford. Best value, huge need. 2. Knox. Again, really good value. 3. Oliver. It was the right choice, but I don’t think he is as dominant play in and play out as one might hope. The rest aren’t going to start and are a bit of a crapshoot. Fingers crossed we hit.
