  1. Hyperbole is the death of the message board.
  2. Does any one have the link to that site that allows you to watch the game in a compressed format?
  3. Zay dropped alot of balls his rookie season, true, but if you think the same is true of his second year, you may want to spend some time looking at the stats rather than just rely on the narrative.
  4. Zay is going to have a really good year. Allen is developing a nice rapport with Beasley, but Zay is still Allen's favorite target. That could change, but outside of Beasley, Zay is still our best WR at getting open.
  5. Also, second in dvoa, which accounts for all of that. Edge rusher would be nice. More sacks would be nice. Isn’t nearly the game changer it is represented to be.
  6. Managed to be the #2 defense last year with the same pash rush.
  7. Yeah, it really isn't the end of the world if he retires. Part of me is hoping that he doesn't feel obligated by the big contract to put himself in real harm. Im speculating obviously. But, still, if there is a serious risk, he should stop now.
  8. I genuinely do not understand why people get so upset about small to medium contracts for players that may or may not work out. He cleared the room, there is nothing wrong with him using it. Its not like any of these contracts are prohibitive in ANY sense. It is crazy to me that if a guy retires the team still has to eat the cap hit. I genuinely do not understand the justification for that.
  9. He did. But after what happened it is not a very strong relationship. Coaches are frequently fired with multiple years left on a contract. You might be right, but its not unfair to think those wounds may not have healed.
  10. 1. Pitt is built on continuity. They do not lightly fire coaches. 2. Gase is in his first year with a young QB. He will get a good amount of leeway. 3. Harbaugh almost left this year. Its not a stretch that to think they may part ways if it doesn't work out this year.
  11. Some of this is dumb, like your opinion of Zay Jones, who is an average #2 and a solid #3. He happens to be our #3, so I am cool with it. However, a lot of this is fair. We are assuming our young guys are going to take a jump. If they do, we are going to be reallllllly good. If they do not, we all probably be the same team next year. Allen in particular needs to make a jump for this team to be good.
  12. That post ended up being more persuasive than I thought it would be. That said, it sort of answers a different question, which is how did the Whaley dynasty do overall? the question posed, however, is how did Whaley do in the 2016 first round? In any event, to your point, I don't think Whaley did as bad as you are portraying, and I don't think he did any worse than any other GM. The true short coming is he never got his QB and, to a lesser extent, he never got his coach. But I agree with the general premises of your point, which is you have to have a good average with your picks to be a successful GM. I just think he had a higher average than ".220"
  13. Yeah, but your point assumes that had they not drafted Shaw, they would have drafted some other better player. So, who is the other player we would have drafted that would have been a better contributor?
  14. This is so stupid. The question should not be "How did Shaq do as a first rounder." The questions should be "Was Shaq the best player available at a position of need at 19?" If he is not, the next question should be "how far off were they." As far as I can tell, there was 1 or 2 DEs that have done better than Shaq after he was drafted. It wasn't nearly as bad a pick as "D+" or even "C."
  15. If Shaq got traded he wouldn't be on the radio.
  16. It was 4.8, and a third of his yards for the season came in one game on 15 carries. His ypc is not an accurate reflection of his performance behind that line.
  17. I don't care about any skill position player that doesn't have the supporting cast. For example, I am not frightened of any WR that has a terrible QB. Same as I am not frightened of any RB that has a terrible OL. Bell is not going to have a good season.
  18. I continue to hold you personally responsible for the cheese on this board right now.
  19. I am desperately rooting for him to not hit 60% but still win enough games to get to the playoffs.
  20. Any links? I'd like to hear the Panthers beat reporters' perspective. This board doesn't know what to do with itself when the starting QB is decided before the season even begins.
  21. Its the maddenization of football. Fans forget that the players are people too. People require training, practice, etc. Its not like once an achievement is unlocked the players plays at that level in perpetuity. They have to continue to work at it. Joint training camp is an interesting idea. Injuries are a risk, we shouldn't pretend they aren't, but there is so much more to gain from competition.
  22. I know when I think of the type of excellence we are trying to achieve, the first thought that comes to my mind is UB.
