Yes and no. There are problems with pre-season. But, it is incredibly important for roster battles and for guys trying to get tape out there that won't make the team. The NFL does not have a minor league. There are very few opportunities for these guys to get their names out there and show the league (not just an individual team) that they can play/are alot better since College. The system is fine. Sure, 25% of the season is long, but the starters play so little, it is the equivalent of a typical preseason for them. I think it is a good alternative to a minor league nfl.

Well, as you can see from the article, he has proven he is better than some of the doubters initially thought. So has proven SOMEthing.

It was a disaster and the ramifications were nothing short of epic. But, that doesn't mean preseason no longer has value. At best, it means you have to remain critical of the results you see on the field. Thing is, you have to evaluate these guys somehow. You want the most out of your guys. For example, you have a third round and a fifth round DE. You tell these guys that the player who proves the most in practice and the preseason gets the start. I think every one would agree its foolish to just hand the job to the third rounder. 99/100 this system works. Every once in a while, it doesnt. Peterman did everything right according to this system. He was just the 1/100. My point is, what is the alternative? Give the loser of the competition the job automatically?

99/100 Preseason tells you what kind of shape a guy is in/what he can do on the field. 1 time it doesn't work out, and this fanbase's response is "preseason means nothhhhing" Do you see how crazy this is?

This is honestly how I feel. Their defense is in sooooo much trouble. Their line has some talent, but not thatttt much. If Josh shows even a modicum of improvement from last year, we are gonna put up points. Our defense is stout. Their line is still full of holes, and their WRs are average. AND, they have a new head coach and a new system. The odds are crazy stacked against them.

I couldn't be more out on PFF. The guy on WGR the other day was absurd. One of his comments was Josh Allen had a low completion percentage when throwing to his second read. How in the world can they accurately measure this without knowing what the reads are. This just have to make so many assumptions to come to their conclusions. Its really just personal opinion disguised as scientific analysis.

He did. It’s a narrative thing. Statistically his drop percentage was perfectly average. Lower than Browns in fact.

I'll give you the push on offense. But the defenses are miles apart. I realize QB is important, but you are literally looking at nothing else. QBs aren't THAT important.

QB is clearly important. But you really just ranked teams according to whether they had a better QB. That is obviously wrong, as illustrated by your inclusion of the Lions, Jets, etc.

They have a notoriously bad secondary (outside of adams, who is just OK) and just lost a starting LB. Mosley is a two down linebacker. This is true in the context of the NFLs passing league. I cannot imagine a scenario where their defense is in the same tier as ours, the second DVOA defense in the league. Their O-Line is a mess. They brought in a retired Center to start for them. By any measure, they were as bad if not worse than the Bills last year. This year, we have brought a number of vets, including one of the top Centers in the league. QB and WR are a wash. Bell is an amazing back, but hasn't played in a full year, is on the verge of being out of his prime, and playing behind a substantially worse OL than he had at PItt. I don't care how good Bell is, with that line, he will not be the same player. I cant wait to bet the Bills +3. Edit: I guess it is 1.5 now.

I will never understand this response. I honestly cannot understand why the act of analyzing another team is worthy of criticism. It is literally what gamblers do when setting their bets. Of course they need to play the games, but at the outset, it looks like the Jets are really bad. It is a game the Bills should be favored in. I cannot understand why they aren't, and it is definitely a game I will be betting.

This is the first time I've seen this board care more about setting the edge than getting to the passer. What happened to "this is a passing league!!!"

I have no idea why anyone thinks the Cowboys are any good. They had a cake schedule last year, and then got a good win in the playoffs. That does not mean they, on the whole, are any good.
