Examining Allen Expectations
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I suppose it is complicated by the fact that he ran for some many touchdowns. I think most people talk about Allen's improvement, and what they are really saying is he needs to be a better passer. If he hit that passing TD increase, it would be an unprecedented improvement. If you are talking about passing and rushing TDs, I suppose I don't think it is out of the question. -

You realize your definition of "well" in terms of TDs would put him at second in the NFL in TDs in 2018? Your definition of just "OK" would put him top 10. Woof. High bar. -

Anything less and it will be time to look to the draft. I will further claim that I pounded the table for Mahomes, even thought their is no documented evidence this is true. -

Why is it that when fans discuss wide receivers they just pretend it does not matter who the QB was that threw it to them? -

This is easily the dumbest argument I’ve ever had on this board. You got me, rather than be a top 5 back for his time in buffalo, he was only a top 7 back for three out of his four years. You are right, that is just good. That is why you find running backs with that sustained success all over the nfl. -
The evidence on the field is that his O-Line couldn't protect him and his receivers couldn't run good routes or not tip the ball. Same thing a super bowl winning coach saw. Please forgive me for thinking it is more likely he is right than you. I know that may seem crazy, but I am not persuaded by your "eye test."

That is fair, don't get me wrong. I'm not sure those trades were just about talent. He has ten years, and I get the impression he wants things to go a certain way. I realize this is a what have you done for me lately, but Gruden deserves a ton more respect than he gets. The fans and media are short sighted. That is why they tend to be on the wrong side of history so often. Lastly, there is nothing I trust less than a message board's fan's "eye test." There is no reason in the world to think you have any idea what you are looking at. No offense. Just to add to this: It is better to know what you don't know than to be overconfident. The fan "eye test" is the ultimate example of overconfidence.

Honestly, I thought it was such a dumb argument I didn't think I needed to look up stats to establish how important McCoy was to this team. He did more for this team between 2015 and 2017 than any other back during that same period outside of Zeke. Here are more stats. In the two seasons he was healthy for the full year, 2016 and 2017, he provided 28 and 33% of this teams offense. For zeke, his healthy seasons in 2016 and 2018, he provided 33 and 36% of his teams offense. Zeke was better for sure, but outside of Zeke, no other back is doing that. -
This is so blown out of proportion. For his five interception game, the first interception was a tipped ball, the second he was hit as he threw, the third he was hit as he threw, the fourth was on him, and the fifth the receiver ran the wrong route. Peterman doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as he gets.
