If Tremaine Edmunds has a problem.....
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way. No MLB they plug in is going to be nearly as effective in the pass game, where it reallllly matters. This would be foolish. This is the equivalent of having a run first offense in todays NFL. It is based on an outdated philosophy. -

Hard disagree, and in the context of our top 6 defense (top 8 run defense), the overall statistical evidence is on my side. Those statistics alone indicate the rush defense is doing its job. That includes Edmunds. -

Did you see the link I posted above? I realize that is only one example, but that is exactly what the All22 shows. -

Typically, maybe. But the whole premise of this conversation from the Edmunds defenders is that MLB is evolving in the pass-first NFL. Their ability as rush defenders is not as important; their assignments are different. It follows that total tackle numbers decrease. Edmunds has done a great job filling his holes and pushing defenders outside. When that happens, though, his tackle numbers go down. -

How he did not understand how dumb that stat would make him look is beyond me. -

That is breathtakingly untrue. -

If you watch the all-22, it is immediately apparent he is playing as well as anyone on the team. -

Honestly. No disrespect. Do you watch the all-22? I mean, sure, if you watch on TV, its hard to follow and understandable for you to think that. The different camera angle reveals a lot. -
If Tremaine Edmunds has a problem.....

Yeah, I don't think that has been true this year, at all. There are exceptions, but he has been really good consistently. I think you just fall guilty to only seeing the bad plays. For example, you saw the screen Sunday and think he had a bad game. He bit too hard on the play fake, so he didn't see the blocker moving up to his outside shoulder. Not great, but it was one play. He was solid the remainder of the game. Great example... -
If Tremaine Edmunds has a problem.....

They won't. Edmunds is doing exactly what he was brought in to do. You have brought up the NE game last year before. I doubt it will happen again, especially with Milano back in the line up. In any event, a run stuffing MLB is more a liability in todays NFL than an asset. McD is just not interested in a run stuffing MLB. He wants a guy that is good in coverage and plays sideline to sideline. He does this exceptionally well. -

One call. I agree, that wasn't the time, but really only because we moved the ball so well. He didn't need to be clever there. That isn't a reason to even slow down on the jet sweep though. -

The jet sweep worked all but once. On top of that, it makes the play action ten times more effective because it worked so well. I legitimately do not understand everyone’s problem with it. -
Anyone else concerned about Pass Rush?
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to MR8's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am concerned, but Dalton got the ball out soooo quick. Especially at the start of the game, our lineman were on the verge of putting a hit on him after less than 2 seconds, but the ball was out. But, that is what Brady will do to us. Except he will do it way better. -
My one peeve from the Giants game
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to mention the team had a chance to go into the locker room with their Second-year QB having just taken a giant leap forward. What do you think a pick does to that sense of purpose? It definitely doesn't help. Especially against a Giants team the Bills were clearly handling. McD made the right choice. If it was NE? That might be different. But it wasn't NE. -

Why are Bills fans always so eager to get rid of their players? -
Just watched 49ers vs Bengals

I don't think our secondary matches up that well. They are supppper fast, and we are not. We will have to be especially weary of the over the top throw, and this will open up a lot of stuff underneath. There will have to more cushion this game than we usually give up. I think that makes this game super close. -
Edmunds vs the run - a liability?
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is right. The overemphasis on the MLBs ability to stop the run is a relic of the old NFL. The most important thing Edmunds does is play pass defense and chase ball carriers to the boundary. NFL defenses often accept 3 to 5 yard plays in exchange for stopping big plays. This was not always true. We don't play Barkley every week. We can live with Barkley breaking off a couple runs in exchange for keeping the passing game in check. -
It is clear this coaching staff is going to be about match ups. Cole had a ton of yards game two, but his targets dropped significantly. Brown is going to be our #1, but he was always meant to be our #1. When the game calls for it, Zay will get a ton of targets. That is just how modern offenses work. The rest of the time he stays on the field because he runs good routes, he is a superb blocker, and he has a ton of experience with Josh Allen. I hate that this argument is being brought up again. The answer requires knowledge that no one here has. Its all garbage speculation.

Pats LT Isaiah Wynn to IR
JoshAllenHasBigHands replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't even pretend to care. Every time I play the "but the Pats have someone injured" game, we get burned. It should matter, but it won't. They will be fine, as always.
