  1. Yeah, but that wasn't a question of Offense v. Special Teams. Dabol is only in charge of offense, not special teams. Really shows how much faith they have in Hauschka.
  2. FG v go for it on fourth down is a McDermott decision.
  3. Those QB sweeps were automatic (when the blocking was even decent). Also, that 1-2 yard run is more about the blocking than the back. Why are you posting a clip where the O-line couldn't execute?
  4. I'll admit that he went a hair too far giving Gore touches. That said, Gore played really well early on. Like, really well. He tailed off towards the end. But by that point, the majority of his touches were change of pace/situations where the priority was ball security. That said, the overall product needs to improve. I tend to think last year we had more execution problems than coaching problems, but it all still eventually falls on him.
  5. This is one of those comments that cracks me up. Ive yet to find a fan base that doesnt think their offensive play caller doesnt dial “a number of head scratching plays.” Whether its Josh McDaniels or Sean McVay, its always the same comment.
  6. They had no where near the same season. Milano was no where near as good as Edmunds.
  7. Whenever I think I really understand pro-level football, I realize I know nothing. I mean, McDermott clearly knows what he is doing on defense, and everything you say here is absolutely correct, historically speaking. I just have a hard time valuing the OLB position. That difference is striking
  8. I just read it (I didn't see you posted that article). Yeah, hard to argue with the numbers. I just think OLB is one of those positions where the entire story isn't told by the stats. Above I've been saying that non-pass rushing OLBs are the RB of the defense. I'll use that comparison to illustrate--Bell was as top-3 RB in the league, but he was easily replaced by Connors and then underperformed in NY. Sure, his numbers were the best, but that doesn't tell the whole story. I sort of think its the same thing for non-pass rushing OLB, and that's the reason we should not pay them. All that being said, I'll bet you anything the Bills disagree, just based on the history in Carolina. So what do I know.
  9. I just said this above, but I'll say it again in response to you: I sort of think the non-pass rushing, non-pass rushing OLB is the RB of the defense--more easily replaced than other positions, and not worth major salary cap investment. What do you think?
  10. Maybe I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt?
  11. Is Shaq the "market value" though? Milano is not Shaq, and I don't think market value for a non-pro bowl, non-pass rushing OLB is even $10M. I sort of think the position is the RB of the defense--more easily replaced than other positions, and not worth major salary cap investment.
  12. Everything @Doc said is just going way over your head.
  13. I think it would make him higher than that. Most of those LB pay lists include pass rushers like Mack and Von Miller. Milano is in an entirely different category of player.
  14. Yeah, but its still better to get big money commitments out of the way as soon as possible. Also opens up flexibility on the back end, allowing you to cut guys that aren't living up to potential.
  15. I read that first paragraph and all I could think was, et tu, eball?
  16. Dawkins was set to make $1.3 for 2020. Now, he will make $61.3 ($60 + 1.3) for 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 (5 total years). Over those five years, he will average 12.2 (maybe 12.4? I don't have a calculator).
  17. All the talking heads know is that Dawkins is getting $60 million on a 4 year extension. They have no idea if that is $15 for the four or $12.2 for all five.
  18. He is right. Fairburn, Bove, and sportrac are all saying $15m. But they also don't know the specifics.
  19. Yeah, but they don't know any more about the deal that either you or him.
  20. It could be, but usually extensions include a modification of the remaining year of the previous deal. That money is usually included in the total.
  21. He gave up 12 sacks last year. If Guard and Tackle are really that interchangeable, that number really seems like trouble.
  22. Something about it just doesn't sit right. But I also didn't watch him enough to know how good he really is.
  23. I think having Ford line up at guard would be a mistake. They are different positions. Ford should be focusing on the position he was drafted to play. I also don't think Williams is as good as he is being treated (see my comment about earning all-pro being suspect). I also don't think Ford will be playing guard in training camp, unless there is another injury at the position. Nor do I think there has been any indication from the coaching staff that Ford will be lining up at guard in training camp. *Edit - I guess Beane did say that Ford might see some time at guard this year.
  24. His lack of accolades both before and after should be alarming, especially since one year removed from being all-pro, the best offer he got from the Panthers was a 1-year, $7 million contract.
