Travis Henry to Philadelphia
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to marck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've had the misfortune of living here for the past few years. The Eagles would add an RB for the right price. Yes, Westbrook is good for them but count his snaps, even in the SB. Dorsey Levens has been getting half the snaps and ALL the inside runs. The Eagles had ideas of using Correll Buckhalter as their pounder but he keeps getting injured. Westbrook is very much like Dave Meggett and the Eagles have been very cautious about overextending him. The only problem with the Henry scenario is that Travis isn't a very good receiver or blocker. For a #2 pick the Eagles could draft a guy and stay with a Westbrook/Levens/new guy three headed monster at RB. I just don't see them as willing to fork over what we want. They will get an RB this off-season though so that thought was good. -
Losman has alot of physical talent. His mental awareness is an unknown quality, but what he HAS shown is the willingness to pull the ball down and run. RJ didn't really do that, he would lock on somewhere and eat the ball even though we COULD run. Losman DOES run. To that end, the BIlls need to contact the Bisons and get somebody in to teach him how to hook slide properly so he doesn't get himself killed. He was quoted regarding not feeling comfortable sliding so he doesn't do it. Thats a valid point because if you slide wrong you can break your leg or rip up your ankle. So teach him how to do it NOW. I'm feeling like Losman will look like Brett Favre of 92ish, big arm running around, sometimes making great plays sometimes making incredibly bonehead throws into coverage. Of course thats what we have now only minus the running.

Would you cut London Fletcher for
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LBs can be responsible for coverage downfield, if it's a zone it can be the MLBs job to get as deep as possible to cover that area, also, he can be in man coverage with a TE or slot WR down the field, those are the plays I am referring to. Also, it doesn't matter if the penalties were questionable or not, they still happened and they happened more than once. Each time it was because he came at the QB out of control and that will CONTINUE to be flagged whether we like it or not. Unfortunately this isn't just a talent conversation. Fletcher is good for the $$ he makes. It will cost us more to get someone better and we have other priorities at this point. -
Would you cut London Fletcher for
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well...if Belicheck loves him he must be the best we can do then.... BTW, Fletcher would drive BB insane, he plays all over the place, he guesses alot, and jumps into holes, sometimes it's good sometimes it makes 10 yard runs or worse. BB wants a guy who will play where he's supposed to play all the time...a system guy. Fletcher is a lot of things but "system guy" is not one of them. -
1. Left Tackle - I let Jennings walk, he's above average at best, FREQUENTLY injured and will be expensive to re-sign because he's young and someone will throw him a contract and pray. I target Tra Thomas or Walter Jones. I like Thomas better but the Eagles will be in a better position to re-sign him, the Seahawks are stuck with 3 big name UFAs and they won't be able to keep them all. I'd rather spend more money on a proven guy than overpay Jennings just because we know him. Ryan Diem of the Colts is another guy if they think he can play the left side. 2. Left Guard - There are many guards on the market this year, like other years. I personally like Roberto Garza of Atlanta, nasty type of player that can also play Center. ATL ran a power running system frequently this year so he's up for pounding. There are others though, Rick DeMulling, Marco Rivera, Rich Tylski, Dave Dixon, Joe Andruzzi, and Stephen Neal (an RFA but we'll see what the Pats tender him for a contract - I doubt they go big bucks so he may be available for a mid-rounder in compensation) 3. Tight End - but I want a different type of player than everyone seems to want. I can care less if this TE can catch the ball, we have 2 of those already and that's enough. I want a man-child who can run block all day long. Give me Pete Metzelaars, huge, strong, catch the ball and look for a spot to fall down maybe 2 times a game. My guy...Anthony Becht. There is a reason the Jets can run the ball kids. He gets killed in NY because he isn't Jeremy Shockey. He does exactly what I want my TE to do, beat up on LBs. Alos, because he ISN'T a great receiver he'll be much cheaper than someone like Bubba Franks.

IF he's recovered from his groin injury Kendrell Bell is a MUCH better football player than London Fletcher. Fletcher has some serious liabilities. He can't cover at all, how many times did someone either complete a long pass up the seam or have Fletcher get PI? He's a leader in negative plays. How many times did Fletcher rough the QB and extend drives this season? The answer to both those questions is many. I would guess that he led the team in BOTH those categories this year. The problem with this thread is, while the Steelers MAY let him walk, it won't be because they don't like him as a football player, it will be because he's too expensive to keep and they also have Larry Foote as an RFA they can plug in. I would rather spend our cap money on other places this off-season. We focus on cap "savings" if a player is cut. Well it isn't savings if you sign a player that makes more than you saved, it's extra. Fletcher counts 1.6 if cut, Bell would make at least 3, thats 4.6 mil for the MLB position. I'd rather have an OT. -
What's up with the press?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to DreamOnDan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Many of them...but we're shopping in a different store right now, those are guys we talked about starting, and more than a few of us were all hot for Jeff Blake. We are looking for a backup who is as good as but cheaper than Bledsoe, because we are assuming JP will start, right? -

Here's a quick list of available QBs...there are other but these were the one I thought fit the experienced, veteran, wont make controversy w/JP category. Kordell Stewart-Baltimore (stop laughing) Charlie Batch-Pittsburgh Tony Banks-Houston Gus (I'm gonna head butt a concrete wall) Frerotte-Minnesota Jeff Blake-Philadelphia Kelly Holcomb (may want to start, but seriously)-Cleveland these guys are all upcoming UFAs, what other QBs may come free? Brunell, Gannon, Garcia? -

Sen. John Blutarsky replied to DreamOnDan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well the biggest problem with young QBs is inconsistency. Good one week crap the next. It seems to me that we already have that with Bledsoe. However, he COULD be worse. Bledsoe is an average QB, Losman MIGHT be terrible, we don't know yet. Working on the assumption that he doesn't completely Billy Joe Hobert blow I think it's a good move. However, we then MUST bring in a veteran backup in case he gets injured otherwise we are looking at the Chicago Bears of this season. Any names come to mind for a realatively cheap verteran QB who can come in and win a little? This is where the problem appears, there aren't many available, experienced, backups better than Bledsoe so we'd better be saving more than a little bit of money by getting rid of him. -

Let's recheck out Hatred...
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's still the Fish for me, too much history there. Although I must say the current New England team is approaching Notre Dame (#2 behind The Fish) levels for me right now. They always seem to pull something out of their asses to win a game. Tom Brady has made a deal with Satan I am convinced. That being said, a split against New England next year will be much more satisfying than a sweep against the Fish just because they are a way better team. Beating the Dolphins this year was like winning a game of Marco Polo at a school for the deaf. -
Bush league play by Belichick
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to BuffaloWings's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Speaking as someone who has personally witnessed 14 point comebacks in the last 2 minutes of a game, no it wasn't bush league. He did exactly what he should have done, he ended all hope. The game was over, no heroics, no comeback, no Tom Brady throwing from his arse...just over. Good night Pittsburgh, drive home safely... I wish the Bills could put the nail in the coffin like that a little more often a la Jacksonville, Jets #1, etc.... -
Eagles TE Chad Lewis out for SB
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if he hurt himself when he tried to celebrate as he got up. He rolled over backwards and got his foot stuck underneath himself. It couldn't have been the play because he was never hit. After he caught the ball he did a backwards somersault, jumped around and then looked down and limped off the field. -

What the F is up with the pool?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, as of now it is fixed. I may have just caught it at a bad time, or someone fixed it. Thanks if you fixed it. -
and I wasn't the only person. It looked like a large number of people, below around #32 it seemed, had massive amounts of thier picks and related points earned disappear. I've made every pick every week and I have half the counted picks that the top people have. That wasn't the case last week. Something happend this week. Is there a way to fix this? SDS, you put out the notice of the pool, is this your project? Don't misconstrue, I'm not pissed, I'm just hoping it can get fixed.

No kidding, wow I hope the NFL has their lawyers fired up for that. The irony of Tim McGraw's name on it isn't lost on me either. ....HEY! COME BACK WITH MY HORSE!!!!

Keith Byars had 2 100 yard rushing games in his entire career...something like 12 years. Willis McGahee has 5 this season and I think we all agree he needs another couple months to be 100%. I agree with the pass catching aspect of Keith byars but not the blocking part. McGahee has already shown himself to be a much more dynamic player than Keith Byars and is pretty far from being relegated to fullback duties.

Tyrone Willingham will not be retained
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meyer's never actually recruited his own team. He took over someone elses team at Bowling Green, same at Utah. He really has no track record as a recruiter and if he goes to UF it'll be Zook's team which is decent. If he goes to ND he inherits a bad team with serious recruiting problems. Petrino'd be a decent fit at UF, he built a strong team at Louisville and got a good number of solid recruits on his own. Butch Davis would e good too. Lots of cred in Fla. from the Canes days, he was an OUTSTANDING recruiter...he built that dynasty that Larry Coker took over. -

Sen. John Blutarsky replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Call him now and offer him a job, i don't care what he does, make up something like they did for Modrak. Just get him in here. He made 2 bowls with a garbage roster. ND's problems go far beyond the coach, he got every OUNCE out of his players. They went 6-5 this year and beat 3 bowl teams, Michigan, Tennessee, and Navy. BTW, I suggested Ty Willingham last year as the Bills HC and was severely chastized because "ND will never let him go" riiiight.... -
Prediction for Moulds in Miami game
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would rather not have to pass at all this week. Zach Thomas is banged up, Seau is out, Taylor is banged up. I'd really like to pound them into submission on Sunday. The question isn't how are our #1 and 2 WRs going to do, it is how is our #3 WR and TE going to do. LBs are banged up and the S situation is a mess down there. We need to keep an eye or 2 on Chris Chambers. He's been very hot the past few weeks. Make someone else beat us. We have to get to Feeley early and often, if we let him stand around he still has Marty Booker, Randy McMicheal, and Chambers to throw to. Make them keep McMicheal in to block. -
Prediction for Moulds in Miami game
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's based on yards per game. Why pass when you can run all over them. Also, most teams don't pass when they have the lead. The Fish are 2-9 thus they have been behind a lot. -
Help Willis out, when he's running hit the X button that's built into your remote, instant speed burst, then hit circle for a spin move, maybe triangle to run somebody over, unless you want to hit R1 or L1 to juke around the guy. Sarcasm BTW. :-) A big part of re-hab is stretching so you maintain your flexibility, yes more muscle mass means less flexibility usually but these guys have trainers for a reason, they strech like you wouldn't believe. Look at Barry Sanders' legs, they were MASSIVE, then tell me he wasn't flexible. Also, I challenge anyone who says he's slow. He outran 2 Seahawk DBs , one of which was Ken Hamlin to the corner on Sunday and then outran the angle of a third (Bierria) to get into the endzone where he dove and contorted his body to get the ball inside the pylon. He ran 47 yards (roughly, Pythagorean Theorum) before the saftey could run 35 (given 5 yards off the line from the middle of the field). Tell me again where he's missing speed? He glides. Trust me when I tell you. He will get in a footrace before the end of this year and he will not be caught. TH looks like he's going 1,000 MPH because he has short legs but he's actually slow. Willis moves faster with fewer strides. Think Walter Payton, big, strong, long strides, really fast out in the open.

[OT] Bass Pro deal is on for the Aud
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, since everyone is pooping on the downtown location for the store I thought of some major plusses. A. They would be able to put some dock facilities on the Buffalo River so people can pull their boat straight up to the store, dock, go buy their stuff, and then leave. B. The city has to put in more launch ramps in that area, but that's something you can charge a fee for service....revenue. C. Canadians will come down to buy stuff, but Americans will stop on their way to Canada as well. Lots of people drive to Canada to hunt and fish, that location is actually fairly convenient, i.e near the Peace Bridge. This is good because these are new dollars that will be attracted to the city, not just recycled WNY money. D. If they ever get their S together and put a casino downtown this is another thing to draw people in and get them to leave their money.
