Just to clarify, I was a season ticket holder until I went to college out of town, i drive an hour every Sunday to watch the games at my parents house and I travel to B-lo once a year to watch in person. I live and die Bills football, it KILLS ME NOT TO WANT TO WATCH. I just can't watch the train wreck anymore...it's awful and nothing positive is coming out of this year, especially if everything remains unchanged.
-
I intentionally wore a Sabres shirt on Saturday instead of a Bills one. I've watched less Bills football this year than I ever have before. I've turned off 5 games early San Diego, Denver, New England #2, Oakland, and Miami #2 (I knew they were gonna blow it and I refused to watch the 4th quarter). I'm not watching this week's game at all and I doubt I'll watch the whole Jets game (which they'll win to screw up their draft pick). It's pathetic that they are THAT bad. Our offensive live is so terrible that we can't run the ball, other teams know this and tee off on the pass. We go shotgun on 3rd and less than 5 because we can't run, the opposition brings the house every single time. It's so predictable I don't NEED to watch to tell you the outcome.

What happened to freedom of speech?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Stiffler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They can't stop you from chanting though...get a good Tom must go chant started, a la "Joe Must Go" form the Jets of the late '80s. I'm sure you'll have plenty of company. -
He said "I don't understand why anyone would live in Buffalo." during the 3rd quarter of the game. He had a nice chuckle at our expense as well. Anybody else hear that on Westwood One? I know many of us say that privately, but that doesn't mean a broadcaster from NC should say it on national radio. Especially one who bankrupted a huge construction company and stiffed subcontractors until they brought him to court to force involuntary bankruptcy. Mmmmm...fraud. http://www.bizjournals.com/triad/stories/2.../10/story2.html YES it is the same Jeff Bostic, I read about 10 articles to check. i had a good time e-mailing his boss, the Bills, the mayor, the visitors bureau, the business partnership today and him today. it was rather fun. I think his e-mail is jeff_bostic@westwoodone.com I sent an e-mail there and it didn't come back, the VP of sports programming is definetly chris_castleberry@westwoodone.com enjoy and flame on.

What happens if Herman Edwards gets canned in New York...I'd like him here at least as DC...our defense has been just about the most overrated thing on the planet the past several years. Brian Billick is a clown of a HC he hasn't done ANYTHING with the Ravens offense in his entire tenure there. He had to have one of the 3 best defenses of all time to win the SB because his offense was (and is) putrid Our failing is as much in our choice of coordinators as much as it is HC. NFL HC is an administrrator, the coordinators do most of the grunt work and gameplanning. As I said earlier, I'm not enamored with Gray's defensive planning (I picture a special ed kid bangind his head off the wall saying blitz every ten seconds) and our OCs have been trash (Pendry, Sheppard, Gilbride, Clements). Apparently our best offensive coach left and is now the HC at Tulsa (and going to a bowl game BTW), Steve Kragthorpe who was our QB coach and noone cared when he left. Clements needs to be gone this year, Mularkey took away his role when he started calling the plays. I say elevate Wyche if he's interested. I don't know if Sam is interested in the job do to his health concerns etc. but I'd LOVE to have him calling plays, he really IS one of the offensive gurus of our time. His basic philosophy matches Mularkey's and I have confidence in Sam's ability to gameplan as well as adjust and change on the fly. We haven't been able to do that successfully since Ted Marchibroda left town. Unfortunately I think Gray will be back unless a plum college job comes calling (I'd say Mack Brown is safe at Texas...whaddya think). He needs to show that he isn't a one trick pony with that G Williams 46 blitz to death and pray defense that always falls apart just when you need it. I don't want to hear about injuries and the d-line. look at New England, they have SIX DBs on IR, and lost a ton more off that defense and they are STILL better than we are because of scheme and execution, of which we have neither. Herman Edwards can coach my defense any day, he's a good DC, bad HC because he's a terrible administrator (see his chronic clock issues). I hope the Jets panic and can him.

Leaving #1. Clements - he looks like a guy who is TRYING to play his way out of town and avoid a franchise tag. He'd be nice to keep but he's gonna be way too expensive, plus I really think he wants out. #2. Adams - benched for the second straight season, didn't pull it together this year, too much Me not enough production. #3. Villarial - breaking down physically this year, moving him frees a spot for Williams to stay. #4. Teague - middle of the line has been a mess throughout his tenure, gets killed by big DTs #5. Josh Reed - too many big drops for way way too long. #6. Moulds - makes way too much money for a WR his age. Staying #1. Mike Williams - he'll get restructured to lessen his number and then moved to RG. #2. Ryan Denney - he'll be cheap depth #3. Ron Edwards - he'll be cheap too coming off an injury. #4. Jeff Posey - he's cheap so he'll stay even if we draft an eventual replacement
-
It's not personal, it's business. We've overvalued Moulds for years because he was head and shoulders better than anyone else we had at the time. He's been inconsistent over that time, I can recall MANY dropped passes and lapses in concentration. He has certainly never been anywhere close to the best wideout in the game but he's getting paid like it. Now he's on the wrong side of 30, he's made 1 impact play all season, his cap number is over 8 million next year, and we have his replacement on the team. Not to mention he already threw Losman under the bus once, at a time when we really needed some veteran leadership. Why exactly should my loyalty be to a player who's never won anything here and who would leave in a heartbeat if given the opportunity to make more money elsewhere (just like everyone else BTW)? My loyalty is to the team, not to Eric Moulds. It's better for the team that he leave after this year, just like it was better that Bledsoe leave after last year (different argument, different thread) We tried to build around Bledsoe, it didn't work. We need to retool and part of that is turning over the roster and finding younger players who will step up. Moulds isn't that guy and I'd take a 3rd-round pick in a heartbeat. The sooner we (the fans)realize that the team isn't 1 player away from the Super Bowl the sooner we can accept the reality that it's time for a number of players to make their way out of town. Where's the downside here? We can't get 533 yards and 3TDs out of someone who costs HALF AS MUCH?
-
Yes, clearly we need to show rabid support for one of the senior members of the team who has done absolutely NOTHING in terms of leadership this season. While we're at it maybe we can stencil #95 to our asses to support Sam Adams and his b-i-t-c-hfest. Thanks for the 10 years of mediocrity Eric. We can find someone else to drop passes and gripe. Just becuase you were the best WR on perenially mediocre to bad teams doesn't make you great, you were better than Bobbby Shaw, congrats. It's time to move on...buh-bye.

So with next years Top 10 draft choice.....
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to ROCCEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read all the complaints about the lines and our lack of run defense, and then I see a stream of postings asking for WR's, DB's and pass rushers. I'd like to draft some big bodies please, at least 2 if not three this season. You can win with mediocre wide receivers (see New England) and with mediocre DBs (see New England) but you need to be able to block and stop the run. I grant all critics that Mike Williams is a mess, but Bryant McKinnie isn't much better. That doesn't mean we can't ever draft another lineman. I don't disagree that we could look to move down and stockpile a bit because reality is we have many needs. I'm not terribly disappointed with our tackles at the moment. I think Gandy and Peters have exceeded expectations. We all expected Gandy to be a revolving door at LT and he has held his own nicely. Peters was a nice surprise as well but he clearly needs more grooming (I thought Peppers ate him up despite the reporting). Both our guards and center have been absolutely brutal this year. Anderson, Teague and Villarial have been AWFUL in pass-pro and haven't been able to generate any push up front either. The three of them could go and I wouldn't shed a tear. I've heard the name LeCharles Bentley bandied about and that would be a nice start at center but he isn't gonna be cheap. Young, athletic guards are difficult to come by in free agency and I think we're going to have to draft some. It's an investment that is long since overdue. We haven't drafted a guard high since Ruben Brown. If that means we move out of the top 10 to choose 2 players in the mid to late round 1 so be it. Assuming we bring in a real center from elsewhere, we need 2 guards at least 1 DT, and an OLB (POSEY) in the first 3 rounds. I also believe that Williams could be renegotiated down this winter and come in as our starting RG next season supplanting Villarial and solving his right-left switch problem. That would help a little but the big bodies still need to be found. Maybe Rock Preston will step in at center or left guard, maybe not. We need to stop building this team from the outside in, Roscoe Parrish and Kevin Everett will be nice players but we could have done without them for a year to bring in some more lineman this year. The longer we put off having a draft of "ugly" players the longer we will be stuck in mediocrity. Teams that can block and stop the run make the playoffs...period. -
wow, the blue dolphin...many a drunken high school party at that particular establishment. :-)

The Top Five Most Annoying Fans at the Ralph
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Red Dragon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll tell you what genius, as long as you don't directly block my view of the game (I paid to see the game, not you and I'm 6'3" so if I stand up 3 rows behind me can't see either), hit me, or get pee, poo, puke, snot, beer, etc. on me we're golden. You can be as loud as you want. Go completely apeshite. I'll probably join in. However, you ticket doesn't grant you the right to abandon all civilized behavior and do whatever you please in the name of team spirit. I like being around fans who yell and get into the game, i don't like people who are so self involved they bother others and openly ignore/defy those people who tell them they are bothering them. BTW, I hope you aren't in front of me this week, you're gonna hafta sit. My wife is 5' and she can't see over men who stand in front of her at all and since she's pregnant God help anyone who bumps her more than a little bit and who doesn't immediately apologize. Clearly I'm a a-hole for being concerned about these things. Don't let that stop your boorishness, please continue. -
The Top Five Most Annoying Fans at the Ralph
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Red Dragon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen, I said that awhile ago. I'm heading up to my only game of the year this weekend and I'm going to be pissed off if the person in front of me wants to stand the whole game. I'm going to be pissed off if the person behind me smacks me in the back of the head every 2 minutes for 3 hours because they are too drunk to notice (like happened last year). I'm going to be pissed if the girlfriend of the person behind me pukes all over my back and belongings (like last year as well). These things do not enhace my gameday experience at all. They annoy the crap out of me. I'm there to watch the game, yell loudly (and occasionally foully) at appropriate times, stand and roar my approval or disapproval at equally appropriate times. I am also there not to kick the person in front of me and I am able to manage all of my bodily fluids in such a manner that they don't infringe upon others. If those things make me a stiff, fine I'm a stiff. Stop justifying your own obnoxious behavior as "rooting for the team" the people behind me last year had absolutely no idea what was going on in the game and they basically made it their mission to piss me off after i politley asked the guy to stop kicking me in the head. Maybe you're right, maybe I should stay home... -

HOW DO WE WIN ON SUNDAY
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to B-Dawg12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hijack the Pats team bus and drive it to Providence. That's about it. Bruschi will dress, Seymour is back, the game is at night, Belichick has had 2 weeks to get his team prepared, Dillon is healthier, Bethel Johnson has had another 2 weeks to get healthy. Find me a positive here....seriously. Not to mention...BOTH our RTs are broken, we can't/don't throw the ball further than 15 yards, we randomly refuse to try to run the ball and become enamored with passing despite the previous, our genius coaching staff hands the ball to a player who hasn't carried the ball in 5 years on 4th and goal on the one, our best defensive player is injured, our run defense is non-existant, our pass defense gets no pressure, and finally....we haven't won a game in Foxboro since 2000 Again, find me positives about this weeks game...please! -
Losman starting this week?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to NJ_BillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If by spark you mean inserting a QB who can't read defenses and is thusfar unable to complete a receiver progression then yes Losman will provide a spark. Of ALL teams to put Losman in against the Patriots would be LAST on my list, especially at night on the road. Belicheck would have his head spinning in 5 minutes. JP should play again before the end of the year, we'll be out of the race by Thanksgiving so that will give him an opportunity to play without completely setting him up to fail because that's what starting him this week would be. All the JP fan boys need to grasp some reality, right now JP sucks pretty hard. -
Improving the Run Defense
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think a problem with all the blitzing we have done, especially on passing downs, is that the NFL has been allowing MUCH more liberal holding by offenses around the league. Teams that blitz a lot have been hurt around the league. Look at the Eagles, they blitz constantly, with a very good defense and have not had much success sacking the QB. I have counted exactly one time this season where the opposing offense has been called for holding our defense during a pass play. I find that almost inconceivable given that we send 5, 6, or 7 men on EVERY pass play. Over the course of 7 games to have one holding call during a pass is almost impossible unless the officials have loosened the standard. I believe that it is part of the leagues policy of protecting QBs, holding is still called on run plays, but almost never on passes. Since the Bills are on at night watch the day games and count how many holds you SEE during passes compared to the number that get FLAGGED during passes. -
Start Holcomb...if the offense struggles
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Hardy Pyle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait wait wait...Harrington just got benched, Carr is a mess from being hit so many times and Kyle Boller is currently injured. Let's not point to those as examples of success. I wouldn't say the Lions, Texans, or Ravens have experienced ANY offensive growth during the tenure of those QBs. In the case of Harrington that lack of growth has been in spite of a proponderence of weapons to choose from (Roy Williams, Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Marcus Pollard) All three of those QBs are in serious danger of losing thier jobs and Brian Billick is in danger of losing his for drafting Boller and being so devoted to him. -
Given our lack of a run defense what else is there to hope for this year? Every team we play for the rest of the year is going to pound the ball at us and be successful. Can you honestly see a way out of that? We lost 2.5 (Milloy is half a player with only one hand) key players from our defense. That defense was SUPPOSED to be the lynch pin of the team. News flash, the lynch pin has been pulled out. We don't have the o-line or QB to play in shootouts and we aren't going to shut anybody down. Result...losses...lots of them.
-
I'd like to see Parrish play this week, we have been lacking for speed. Parrish is a match-up problem for a defense. Reed/Aiken don't force anyone to play nickel, they can cover them with a saftey or linebacker most times, Parrish is too fast for that, they will have to bring in a 3rd corner to cover him. That will open up some more running lanes hopefully. Also he might discourage some of the blitzing we've been seeing because we'd really like to hit him on the run on a hot route coming out of the slot. Defenses want us to throw to Reed/Aiken, they won't score from more than 5 yards out and it keeps the ball away from Moulds and Evans, hence Reed's unusually high number of catches (12 so far, only 16 all last year). Parrish is a threat to them. They'll plan for it at least a little bit, it would be silly not to. Even if it only makes them send 5 guys instead of 6 that helps. Also, this is week 6, anyone have any news on Kevin Everett? He's eligible to come back next week.
-
Well here's a short list of veteran DL it could be, not likely but possible. most of them are either old, damaged, or both. Tim Bowens - if he's interested he'd be decent in a rotation Antonio Cochran - formerly of Seattle Cleditus Hunt - formerly of Green Bay Norman Hand - same deal as Bowens Wendell Bryant - not particularly stout against the run, former high #1 pick Luther Elliss - solid when healthy, re-injured a pec in pre-season and got released. should be healed Ellis Johnson - better as a nose tackle than DT but he's out there. concussion history

Dont know if this has been posted but
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the plus side it should slow down his eating so he might drop a few pounds... I'd rather have an OG that can pass block a little bit rather than another "road-grader" The middle of our line is practically non-existant on passing downs. That being said, he is young, has a decent pedigree and may yet be salvagebale, but i don't think he's the plug-and-play solution some might wish he was.
