Vermeil said he'd entertain offers
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't handle Vermeil. he comes off as so fake to me. He announces his retirement from the Rams, then comes back to the Chiefs. Announces his retirement from the Chiefs to get his team up for a big game, then is quoted less than a week later saying he'd listen to ffers? C'mon man emotion is good but it's gotta be real and I don't beleive you anymore, either you're fake or you have a personality disorder -

He basically fired Clements himself when he took away the play calling duties in October. Maybe it's not about who gets fired, but about who gets to choose the NEW OC (and DC if the situation arises). Just a thought... -

If Dennis Polian is hired I DEMAND to be considered as well. I went to high school with Dennis and brilliant is not one of the first 100 words that come to mind when I think of him. BTW, Dennis had to stop playing football because he broke his skull falling out of a golf cart at training camp one summer...BRILLIANT! (ok I lied it's in the top100 but in the Victorian Guiness guy kind of way) -

Don't ya wish we could rewind back to the early 90's and NOT fire Polian? :-) -

OK, it's beating a dead horse...but DB wouldn't have made much of a difference this year...he would've gotten beaten to death behind that awful line. He didn't really improve in Dallas either. He had his honeymoon half a season then regressed to good ol' pat pat sack, pat pat pick, pat pat fumble. Did they make the playoffs? Didn't think so... -

As much as I like Wyche if Mularkey's gone so is he and honestly, if he can't or doesn't want to be OC we can find another QB coach... -

Well, the coaches are under contract individually...I can't see Wilson canning April after our ST the last 2 years, but I can see McNally going, along with everyone else. What have you done for me lately.... BTW, any incoming regime would have a really hard time selling anyone that ANY ST coach they can bring in is better than April given the back to back #1 ratings. -
If MM is fired...
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Normally I'd agree with you but the dude is 87 and I think he's running out of patience. He's been quoted as saying he wants to be more hands-on again and I really don't think he cares about money anymore. He really want to win before he dies, if that costs him 3 mil it costs him 3 mil. Either way the coach is gonna be the guy that RW wants this time, not the coach anyone advises him to hire. The last coach he had a lot of input over was likely Levy, and if not Levy, Wade Phillips. I get the impression that TD had a lot of freedom to do hiring and drafting w/o RW input. His quotes indicate that's over with. If RW wants MM to stay he stays, if not he's gonna go get his guy. I see Levy's role as day-to-day advisor. RW can't be in all the personell meetings and be directly involved everyday. Levy is someone who RW trusts to give him the straight answer and I think that'll be his role, whoever the GM ends up being. -
Obviously the guys who just got canned. Haslett, Martz, Tice, Sherman, Mariucci, Capers...I'm looking for other names. I think we're all tired of going the coordinator route. What other HC candidates are out there who have NFL HC experience?

Crowell is too small to play the strong side...I see Spikes as the one who will swap sides and play the strong side. Unless we go back to the 3-4 and slide Crowell or Spikes back inside along with Fletcher with Posey (or his replacement) as the rush-backer. In a 3-4 Denney and Kelsay could also be rush-backers with Tim Anderson sliding out to end with Adams or his replacement at Nose Guard.

Jim Haslett fired by the Saints:
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Sanjosebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd love to bring Haslett on as DC...I'm hoping Gray goes to Houston so we don't have to fire him. It was amazing how our defense became completely unable to adjust on the fly after Dick LeBeau left town. I'm on the record as wanting Wyche to be our OC but I'd be OK with Mike Sherman too, he's another WCO guy which melds well with Mularkey (I think he's staying). He made Ahman Green into a Pro-Bowl back and he is definetly committed to running the ball. He got 600 yards out of Samkon Gado for cripes sake. -
Crowell's a little small to play over the TE all the time. I wouldn't be shocked if Spikes is the one to switch sides and play over the TE next year. As we've all discussed and seen before w/ Sam Cowart, his athleticism will likely be diminished in the future and it would make more sense to have the smaller guy play the weak side if that's the case.

I'm really not unhappy with our tackle play this year. Gnady hasn't been a turnstile at LT and Peters has held up well since he was inserted. Interior line needs to be our off=season focus. Steve Hutchinson and LeCharles Bentley would be nice (albeit expensive) solutions. If TD or his successor can renegotiate big Mike down to a reasonable cap number I'd move him to RG. His cap figure has to come down though, nobody can afford an 11 million dollar guard. Left to right that'd make Gandy Hutchinson Bentley M. Williams Peters That works for me...obviously the question is finainces...though I get the sense that RW is antsy and won't quibble too much about cash...particularly given that 2007 is currently uncapped so all sorts of cap shenanigans will be taking place this off-season...

The next owner of the Buffalo Bills will be...

Golisano would have to sell the Sabres to buy the Bills, NFL rules. How about Rupert Murdoch who'd move them to LA and put them in the NFC -
If we get Martz ...uht oh
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Johnny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Martz is an offensive mind who refuses to block for his quarterback which is the downfall to his offense every season. He ruined Kurt Warner with all of his hand injuries and concussions, is halfway to ruining Marc Bulger for the same thing, and broke Jamie Martin's head, spleen, etc. as well. We already have a problem blocking for the QB when we TRY to, we don't need an OC who will INTENTIONALLY turn the defense loose and let the QB get annihilated. QBs are clearly disposable to Martz...bad, bad, bad. We already have our next OC in house, promote Sam Wyche. He runs the ball, develops QBs and is creative. He made it to the Super Bowl with Ickey Woods, Boomer Esiason, Tim McGee, and Eddie Brown on offense. The sum of our current tools are at least as good. Get him a line and let him go. -
They have an uncanny ability to do the worst thing possible. At this point winning games hurts more than it helps, particularly given the logjam of 10 loss teams. If they lose both they'll end up in the top 5, if they win either week they'll end up 10 or worse.

Can't wait to see #85 torch Clements this weekend
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, Clements has been playing like someone who wants to get out of town all season. How many times has he been trailing a wide open receiver this year? The one piece of our defense that has been relatively injury free is DB and our pass coverage has been absolutely dreadful this year. It doesn't matter who is in coverage, the man is open, very open. Vincent has been invisible, Milloy can't run with me, Clements has been AWFUL for a man who will want big dollars this year. McGee's been the best one of the bunch and that's not lights out. I'm tired of hearing about the pass rush, extra time might give the WR an extra step, there are guys running wide open all over the field.
