Why is the game not sold out..
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to EndZoneCrew's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My wife works in the eletronic marketing department of the largest grocery store chain in the Philadelphia area. Where do you suggest we move to in Buffalo? Rochester maybe because Wegmans is great. It's not that easy just to "move back" chuckles. The job has to be there to move to. I'm a teacher, Niagara Falls is laying off teachers left and right and I'm sure the city of Buffao will soon follow suit. You think those teachers are gonna disappear? Nope they're going to take any vacancies they can find anywhere near there. It's not going to be easy to find a teaching job there any time soon. It's the reason most of us left in the first place, there aren't enough jobs there. Philly has plenty of emplooyment options for both me and my wife. My wife used to work in marketing at EB Games corporate office until they got bought out and closed up shop, if that happened in Buffalo we'd be screwed. Here she had a better job than the one she left in 3 months. Those of you who still live there have to get things in order to attract business to ALLOW the rest of us to come back. I can't vote for politicians in WNY, but you all can. You want us to come back give us something to come back to. -
4th quart Pats down 14-0 Pats throw an illegal forward pass on 1st down, supposed to be yards +loss of down, took the yards but was still first down on the field. Pats ran 3 more plays, should have given up the ball, got an extra down on which Brady was sacked and fumbled. Just wondering if anyone saw this since it probably didn't get much play since New England didn't score and Brady didn't get hurt. Wouldn't that be the karma equalizer of all time? Brady getting seriously injured on an extra down they shouldn't have had in the first place??? The universe's mass conspiracy almost backfired!

Bills in the Playoffs?!?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to ezbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just win and let the chips fall where they may. The chips all fell correctly 2 years ago we just forgot to win the last game. If we win out and the chips fall wrong so be it, but part #2 is irrelevant w/o part #1. JUST WIN BABY -
Why NFL Replay does not work....
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL is the only professional league with part time officials. Al of these guys go to work at their real jobs Monday morning. They ahev the same work stresses as the rest of us. How much time do you have during the week to review game film? I say make the NFL officials full time like every other league. That way they have no other responsibilties during the week except reviewing film, grading their own performance 1 on 1 with the league office rather than via memo, god forbid going to the opthamologist (I couldn't help it). It's farcical to me that the people who have the most control over the outcome of a game have the least formal training and least attachment to the league itself. -
BCS Rankings for NFL
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it that we don't have six division 1 wins or that we're in division 1-AA and our wins were against other 1-AA teams. We played the D-I schools tough but didn't come out with a W. -
But the pass blocking has gotten better. There's another way to look at it. We have a rookie 7th round pick playing RT and he isn't getting killed out there. OL takes time to mature, give the kid some time. His pass block skills are at least serviceable at the moment. Give him an offseason to get stronger and see where you are. Peters was playing special teams his rookie year, this kid is starting....

Dat Ngyuen and Dexter Coakley aren't much heavier than Wire. The difference as I see it is space. Safeties have to tackle in space and cover in space. LB is much more close up work. Less ground to cover, less room to maneuver, hence larger men can play the position. My only concern with Wire playing LB is him getting consistently blown out of the hole. Our linebackers in general seem to run around blocks rather than take them on in the hole anyway. Pass coverage is definetly an upgrade - despite his problems at safety. Cover 2 linebackers need to get depth and he's definetly fast enough to do that. He's not fast enough to cover a deep half of the field but he's quick enough to do an intermediate third of it. Look for a platoon, Haggan in run downs Wire in pass downs.

Most Important Game Of the Year
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not going to blame to the Sabres or the economy or anything else. Bottom line, it's really hard to market a game that most people think we're going to lose. Not only do most people think we'll lose, they think we're going to get killed. Add on top of that a snow forecast which will take out more than a few long distance travelers, and the fact that the Chargers fans won't be travelling here to gobble up tickets like the Cheeseheads did. Adds up to about 9,000 tickets to me. As an aside, I get pissed at people on this board who give other a hard time when they say they can't go because they live too far away. I live in Philadelphia. I can't drive 7 hours each way to go see a football game. 14 hours of driing for 3 hours of entertainment is silly. I usually do it once a season but to suggest that people can seriously have season ticket commitments for that kind of drive is crazy. If you do it good for you, I have work and fmaily commitments that keep me from doing that. I'd rather stay here and watch the game with my wife and 6 month old than drive all the way up there by myself to watch the game, the baby can't go to the game, it's too cold, and we don't have a sitter up there. For the playoffs I can probably justify it, for a regualr season game I think we're going to lose about 48-3 I can't. And if that makes me a bad fan fine, I suck. When I lived up there I was there evry week, even when we were crap so I paid my dues already. -
Reasons Why We Can Beat San Diego
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a week to practice outside all week long, I don't care if it's 60 today or not. get out of the bubble. As my mother said, "Go play outside!" Also, we need to fax the weather report to the Chargers locker room every 15 minutes. Send them boxes of fake snow, pictures of the Blizzard of '77. get in their heads :-) -

Reasons Why We Can Beat San Diego
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think these are the two most compelling reasons, especially #10. Let's hope that the Bills offense doesn't go into turtle mode if they get a lead though. San Diego can score points almost at will. We have to stay hungry and aggressive the whole game. I'd test Merriman's conditioning too, suspended players are barred from team facilities, let's see if he's been working out just as hard on his own and off the juice. San Diego is overdue for a Schottenheimer special...mysterious play calling, inexplicable turnovers, bad special teams...you know... Martyball.... -
How many yards will LT rush for next week?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to IBTG81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Word...make it sloppy, 34 with rain/snow is a good temp. You're wet the whole time and everything is slippery. Maybe we can get LT to put the ball down a couple times, at the very least it should slow down his cutbacks. -

Sen. John Blutarsky replied to IBTG81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
9? I was hoping we'd do something radical and put 13 or 14 in the box, that way San Diego will only earn 5 yards per play. Landmines would help as well. -
Bills programming on radio/television
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To follow up, I did register myself as living in postal code 14072 (Grand Island baby, go Vikings...) The feed didn't shut off and I was able to listen to it the whole game long. I don't know if this was a one game anomaly or a bonafide backdoor through the NFL's pay to listen to webcasts crap.... -
Bills programming on radio/television

So the 97 rock webcast just shuts off? When you register it asks you your postal code as a required field. If you register yourself in the Buffalo broadcasting area will it stay on? -
Someone please tell me again, why Jax isn't
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jacksonville covers at least 7500 seats every week. They cheat to get "sell outs" by reducing the capacity of their own stadium. If they could sell those seats they would. I watched the Georgia/Florida game in that stadium just to check it out and sure enough the tarps were gone (not construction related or anything) and there were people in those seats. -

I watched wrestling for about a week and a half in college. I always liked Stone Cold Steve Austin and The original Degeneration X tag team. What? No votes for Kai 'n Tai? -

JP's time to throw, compared to Manning & Brady
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you hit upon the important piece of this data when you noted that there was no pocket most times when JP threw. Lack of a pocket = pressure. Losman is pressured almost every time he throws while Brady and Manning can have tea behind their lines on a regular basis. Having the line right in your face certainly plays an important role in pass selection and accuracy. 3 of the 5 Green Bay sacks last week came from up the middle, not from the edges, those sacks are harder to avoid and pressure like that does much more to disrupt the QB since he can see it coming (and not through it to see where the WR and/or coverage is) -
