So for the record, who has Kiper had us picking since Christmas so when he says "I've had Buffalo picking _____ since ________." We know what version of his reality he's referring to. You have to admire his strategy though. Carpet bomb with ratings and rankigns and a big board and mock drafts so no matter what happens he can point to some point in the past and say he nailed it.

What he really really means. I want to trade JP but I have to say nice things publicly because I won't give him away for nothing. As soon as I state I want to trade him his value drops in the marketplace. Plus I run the risk of completely alienating him if I can't put a good deal together and end up hanging onto him. By saying this at this time I keep all my options open and protect JPs value in the marketplace. You never show your hand, if he came out and said he wnted to trade him I be angry because there's no reason to say it. It's similar to what Pac-Man just did to Tennessee. he said he won't apply for reinstatement until AFTER he's traded. Well since teams aren't sure if he WILL be reinstated that undermines his trade value to Tennessee since teams are less willing to risk a better draft pick on an uncertain situation. By saying that he effective reduced his chances of being traded this off-season because Tennessee can let him sit on the suspended list for free and they won't give him away for nothing either because it doesn't hurt them at all to keep him where he is. Pac Man doesn't want to play n Tenn but by showing his hand he f'ed it up for himself, once again proving the abyssal depth of his ignorance.

I can accept 9-7 and no playoffs ...

At this point of the year it's a glass half full or galss half empty kind of discussion. I choose to see it that we have improved over last year's team more than Miami or New York have improved. We get two starters back from injury (Poz and Simpson) and have added at least two others who are significant upgrades in Stroud and Mitchell. I also see a new CB coming in two weeks. So for me our defense is better. Offensively we'll see a new system so it remains to be seen how it will be implemented or if it's any good. Regardless of that our OL has another year together which is good - stability across the OL helps tremendously. Edwards has a full off-season of prep under his belt and got good game experience last year. I choose to believe that our new offense will build off his strengths and reduce the 5 and 7 step drops. I also choose to believe that Parrish will touch the ball more and that TEs will be targets in the passing game. I also see that a FB on the roster and elmination of the crappy H-Backs will improve our power running and pass blocking. Given this more positive outlook here's how I see the year. Seattle. 50/50 shot Seattle is on the downswing IMO, we're on the up. Tight game. I say we win late. 1-0 @ Jacksonville. Tough match. It will be hot and they will run. We lose. 1-1 Oakland. Oakland has a decent D but so will we. We win this game. 2-1 @St. Louis. I like our matchup vs. their O-line. i think we dominate the LOS on both sides. Win 3-1 @Arizona. Long trip, lots of weapons, underrated d. we lose this one 3-2 San Diego I think San Diego is down this year. Rivers' knee isn't right. LT hits the downslope. Win but it's close. 4-2 @ Miami. They were better than a 1 win team but we improved more than them. Win going away 5-2 Jets They still don't have a QB, they spent a lot of money but I don't think they're much better. Win. 6-2 @ New England - we're better but not yet. Loss 6-3 and it might get ugly. Cleveland - By this time we'll know if last year was a fluke. I think they were real. Loss in a barn burner 6-4 @ KC - tough venue but they stink out loud. Win in an ugly game. 7-4 San Fran - long trip to see us, Gore will be beaten up by now. We'll run on them. Win 8-4 Miami - Miami still stinks. Win 9-4 @ Jets - always a tough trip for us, wind is a factor. I say we win. 10-4 @ Denver - loss I'll never pick us to win there...ever... 10-5 New England - this game will likely determine the division. We're still not ready for prime time 10-6 -

He's pretty accurate with the TV maps though. I can't speak for the discussion board. -

Just went there, still lists the 2007 schedule only. -
I wouldn't know how to figure that out best so I'll leave it to the resident actuarial people but I know it's pretty unlikely. Like 1 in 21 chance each season.

lol or, maybe we'll play in Toronto on Monday, October 13th and then on November 27 at the Ralph so we can play on Thanksgiving twice in the same year. -

I don't think so. I don't think the NFL would want to sacrifice a natural fan rivalry game like that. Also, I don't think it will be a division game. Very likely a WC team or a poor AFC team sicne the game will sell out regardless and they can plunk it on MNF anyway. -

The NFL will forget the Thanksgiving in Canada is not in November and schedule us in Toronto on Thanksgiving night which in Canada is just a random Thursday -
Draft Droid's Value Board
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks. Answers that question. he gets a bit of a pass on the bench number. For those who don't know. It's harder because you have to push the weight further and your elbows are further away from your torso which changes the fulcrum point. They only give you credit for full, all the way up to lock out and then all the way down to your chest presses. Guys with huge chests and short arms have a very easy time since the weight has a shorter distance to travel. -
Draft Droid's Value Board
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly don't know a ton about his measurables? Benching is not always a clear indicator though. Short armed guys have a big advantage in benching and a huge disadvantage on the field. If Albert is long armed and had a sub-par bench I'm OK. If he's short armed and had a bad bench number it's a problem. -
OL in the first round WTF!
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to bdelma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lends even more credence to being able to swap with Philly, add Sheppard, draft Albert and get a WR in round 2. Anyone have beef with that scenario? I'm stupidly happy if that happens. -

Sen. John Blutarsky replied to bdelma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be less than pissed with that selection. All skill players get way better when the QB gets 5 seconds to throw and the RBs can run through holes the size of Mike Williams' arse. WR's will still be there later. We've still got ammo to move back up for a corner if we want one. -
does it matter kelly ran 4.68?
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't say he's getting screwed. He chose not to run at either of his first two options which put all of his eggs in one basket. He knew that the OU pro-day had players run on the field turf so I'm not sure why he'd be surprised that they'd have him run on the field turf by himself. the NFL talent guys seem to be catching on to the gamed up running surfaces and are discounting times made on fast tracks while given bonus points for players who run solid times on real fields. There were several scouts who were impressed when Gholston chose to run on the field turf and ran a 4.63 when he could have gone in the 4.5s if he ran on the track. His response that he was slipping all over the place doesn't really hold up for me, if field turf is that big a problem we probably want to know given that, well we have field turf. The "problem" with field turf is that you have to run in football spikes, not turf shoes or track shoes which obvioulsy slow you down. if he didn't run in spikes of course he'd slip but that was his choice and I'm sure he owns a pair as that's HIS home practice facility. -
Buffalo's Center Position
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Sherman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree entirely. Unfortunately I don't know the answer to your question. College centers seem to be especially hard to project to the NFL. Perhaps because it is a very cerebral position, moreso than other line spots. -

My first phone call from Bills marketing
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. that's either an intern a new new hire who already hates his job. Plus, if you think it's hard to sell a back to abck 7-9 club how would you like to have been a marketing intern in April of 1986 coming off 2 2-14 years, when rumors were swirling about moving to toher places and Jim Kelly had not yet come out of the USFL? THAT was a crappy job. -
Did you like James Lofton? You know why Green Bay traded him away? Sexual assault charge How about Cornelius Bennett? Sexual assault with 35 days in jail How about Bruce Smith? 2 time DUI + 2 time loser in substance testing Darryl Talley? Assault and DUI Thurman Thomas? Marijuana Damien Covington? Drugs and shot dead The list continues. let's not kid ourselves here. If in 10 years he had one physical altercation with a woman, admitted guilt, completed his program, showed contrition he's fine by me. The keg thing is stupid college crap and he stood up and took the blame for that too.
