Rebuild or not? Answer this QB question
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to SawchukBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're anticipating a problem with that with our current Trifecta of Terrible at QB currently? -

Yeah, zaba's bad. It's hard to get yourself out of the database too. They have a tiny little link that then tells you how to submit something in writing via snail mail to get yourself out. I had to do it 4 times before they actually complied. It's a pain in the butt. -

I had that game for my IBM clone later on. Fun game, except that if you tried to make your own team and started your stats from zero it was impossible to hit homeruns. Everyone was a slap hitter forever. -

No, that's true but it's also a crappy reason not to do your civic duty and fill out a GD form. Lori, this is not directed at you. You know what? Don't fill it out. As a matter of fact, have nobody in all of WNY fill it out. We'll go ahead and use your share of federal dollars and Reps in Congress to get what we need down here in PA. You all can then manufacture the two things that WNY still exports in abundance...bitching and moaning. -

Yeah, we're ok with giving the government our phone number(s) to have them keep telemarketers from calling us during dinner, but if god forbid those same people should ask for your phone number as part of counting your actual existence within the country we'll all just lose our minds... HONEY DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!!! IT'S THE <insert designated evil group of politicians here>!!!! I can picture it now. Board rooms full of NSA, FBI, CIA and all sorts of acronyms we aren't even allowed to suggest exist all wiping their brows "Thank Christ all those dumbasses gave us their phone numbers, now we know where to find them. Hey Peggy? You can go ahead and power down the satellites now, we're back on the phones! Oh, and get me Bob on the phone, I need a friggin update on this telegraph and Pony Express situation..." -
Yeah I'm sure that's it. After all he hasn't had a professional dietician and the psychiatric care in Philadelphia is Cro-Magnon at best and he and the team who invested massive amounts of money in his success lack the financial resources to seek out experts in the field but I'm sure that you know what you're talking about. How was the Holiday Inn Express last night?

Chan Gailey Quote

I dunno...I'm not sure that Edwards or Fitzpatrick could play H-Back... -
Philly fans are insane but they also have no tolerance for players who don't die for the team and Andrews didn't do that. If we wait a couple weeks his brother will get released as well. Andrews has a bad back, chronic mental health issues, and hasn't really played in 2 years. Yeah he's got talent. Is anyone ever going to get it out of him? Pretty doubtful, the Eagles waited 2 years on him, spent $$ bringing in his brother to support him, don't really have a good replacement for him and ditched him anyway. What does that tell you? He'll be a Raider or a Bengal by the end of the week

See that math works when you're running to a stationary target. When the target is running away from you you need to account for that as well. I grant that the difference in distance covered between a 4.5 and a 5.0 is small, but even if it's less than an arm length that's the difference between a from tackle and an arm tackle, or an arm tackle and a whiff A person who runs 40 yards in 5.0 seconds is moving at an average of 24 feet per second. A person who covers that distance in 4.5 seconds is moving at an average of 26.6 feet per second. Using that math, for every second the two players are running (Spikes and an average run of the mill RB) the RB is pulling away by 2.6 feet. That's a little under an arm length for every second they run. That is a lot. It changes the angle the player has to take in order to make the tackle which forces the LB to attack the ball less on anything not straight ahead in order to meet the RB at all. If you get an exceptionally fast back like Chris Johnson it just gets worse. Let talk about coverage, if the LB is in coverage it's not crazy to track a player for 20 yards or more especially in a blitzing situation (that's less than half of the width of the field and remember parallel to the line is still distance to be covered). After 2 seconds of coverage the RB will be open by 5 feet. That's wide freaking open. 2.6 feet is open, 5 feet plus is insane. Even if Spikes ran a 4.75, still a pedestrian time, all these distances would be halved and even that makes a big difference on the field between a tackle and a miss. 5+ is just too slow for a LB of any type to be on the field. With that time he's not draftable in a 7 round draft.

The Marketing Genius of the Buffalo Bills
Sen. John Blutarsky replied to McClane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was at that game and I fell asleep. 1 hour drive to the airport, one hour flight, weekend in B-Lo in prep for the game, all excited to be there for my one trip of the year...fell asleep in the 3rd quarter. what's worse is that the game was so bad that there was no noise to wake me, and when I finally woke myself up, I hadn't missed anything. -

What's the difference? This bunch of Nancies isn't winning the Cup. They're one and done even if they make it so who cares if the collapse ends a week sooner or later? -

That's true, but what are we asking him to do? Are we asking him to anchor a pass rush, or to eat up blocks? I sort of see where the Bills are going here. They know they won't get a top notch NT this season, at best they get someone like Cody who's a bit of a risk/project. In the short term, rather than having one giant NT they can actually get 3 big DL and put them all out there at once. In essence they are all functioning as space eating NTs and if they pressure the QB it's a bonus. This is particularly effective if we end up large at OLB as well which would be the case with Schobel and Maybin out there. There'd really be a 5 man line that could move around and morph into different alignments to confuse the offense. The anchors in the middle would be Poz and Mitchell, neither of whom are small when compared to some 3-4 ILBs and who both have experience in coverage as well as playing OLB if they morphed into a 4 man line by having one of the OLBs put their hand down. God forbid, we'd have some versatility. -
