  1. I agree. But, you need a RB who can do both phases to really make then effective. Mccoy gives us that. Now, we'd better hope he stays healthy.
  2. Screens? We haven't seen too many of them since the TT days. Nice having Mccoy who can kill you in both run and passing game. Makes play action and screens more likely.
  3. So did Taylor right before that.
  4. Mike Rodak ✔ @mikerodak Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor rotating reps in 1-on-1s between WRs and DBs. Manuel and Simms running 9-on-7 run drill on other field.
  5. I wasn't doubting that on that one play the receiver made a mistake. But I believe I read there was at least 1 other interception.
  6. I am not sure that's 100% true. I thought he let on that he hopes EJ wins the battle. He comes off as unbiased but the fact is he report 8-11 yesterday but every other reporter as camp had EJ reporting between 2 and 4 receptions only. Plus there was 2-3 interceptions that he threw but the only one astro reported was the one mistake by the receiver. So I am sensing a little bias, intended or not.
  7. The haters would then be posting in the positive thread. Duh.
  8. Kelly thanks for putting it in context. People read one thing and don't understand the whole picture on why Rex said something. Live and die by the soundbite.
  9. A lot of folks are blaming this Joe B person, but looking at other tweets from folks like Tyler Dunne, etc... EJ had more than 3 incompletes. Where the answer is, I don't know. But he bobbled at least two snaps yesterday also, which seems to be a pretty common theme for him this year. Did his hands shrink during the off-season? Cassel seemed to have a good day, but from reading through multiple blogs, etc... sure seems like Taylor overall seems to be making the least mistakes with the ball. Maybe a little quick to go off his reads and run, but that's better than 3 and outs or turning over the ball with muffed snaps, interceptions, etc... Everyone wants to also blame the one interception on the receiver running the wrong route, but EJ had multiple interceptions thrown yesterday (maybe that's why Astro has 8 completions 6 to the Bills defensive players???). Right now from reading multiple reports, blogs, etc... the leaning has to be Cassel or Taylor starting with EJ the most inconsistent and while having the best day some days like Saturdays scrimmage he also has been on the bottom of the heep a lot.
  10. Consistency doesn't have to mean the best each day. Just means you're not the worst any day. Right now the swings seem bigger with Cassel and EJ. I suspect the leaning at OBD is towards Taylor at this point.
  11. Can still that. If it stays on the edge, EJ starts.
  12. Actually sounds like Cassel is good. Taylor is his old steady self. Nothing flashy but no mistakes. EJ seems to have really crapped the bed today.
  13. More overthrows from Manuel against no defense. Misses Robert Woods on an out and up by about seven yards. Matthew Fairburn @MatthewFairburn Matt Cassel threw back to back touchdowns while he was working against the third team defense. Both nice throws to Clay and Harvin. Tyler Dunne ✔ @TyDunne Tyrod Taylor with two completions this drill. Hits Percy Harvin and then Sammy Watkins on two crossing routes.
  14. Manuel throws behind Percy Harvin on a short out against no defense.
  15. Just be aware. That means the team will have named a starter long before then. Just not publicly.
  16. Did you have a firecracker explode on your head?
  17. And Marrone did that quite a bit in NO as the OC. Of course he also went to a bowl game with Cuse. So the old coaches also understood getting to the playoffs which not for a crap game against Oakland and Texans might have happened.
  18. Except the reporters are not seeing these guys every practice. They aren't seeing leadership or film sessions. They see controlled pieces of an overall plan where one guy might be better for some reason. But when all the pieces are added up, he maybe the worst. My hope is that one f the younger guys steps up because we then don't have to worry about the Qb slot for a few years (barring injury). But if they don't we are better served this season by having the vet start.
  19. So let's close this and every other thread. Marrone sucks, no he doesn't. Ends those threads. Ej sucks, no he doesn't. Yup all the QB threads. Actually putting an opinion out, countering and having a little bantering is what this is all about? Or did I miss the intent of this board?
  20. By who's opinion would being outplayed count? Yours, mine, the media? Do you really think that if Cassel is named the starter that the only people whose opinion matters made that decision (The coaches). It's only disturbing if you trust some hack who makes a few bucks or nothing to blog about his opinion on the internet vs. coaches who get paid millions to evaluate properly.
  21. Except these players now have a scape goat. We'll see if any of them step up or make the team. But guys like Chandler and Spikes were not even given a second look by the new guys. If a lot of the guys are pushed to backup roles or even cut (like Tuel), then maybe these guys just weren't very good, and Marrone and crew actually did more for them to get them game ready. We were 9-7 last year with a journeyman QB, poor oline and a good defense. The team on paper except QB has a lot more talent thins year. If there isn't dramatic improvement by at least 2+ wins, then I suspect that the proof will be that Marrone as big a jerk as he was is probably a pretty darn good coach. Look at New Orleans. Granted they won the year after he left but he was a big part of teaching techniques to that team. How's that Syracuse team doing now? Not defending the jerk, just saying that this team did a lot more last year than anyone expected.
  22. From a different perspective, maybe the old coaches were teaching how to use these flawed players beyond their ability. Nothing to say the new guys are any better. Has Rex or Roman won a Super Bowl?
  23. I think having EJ not be the #1 Qb should be in the positive thread.
  24. We are't going to pick high enough next year to pick a QB in 1st round. But maybe find a suitable LT in the draft.
