I'm always defending Kiper. It's not that I like him so much, more that what he does is very hard to get right even 50% of the time. People say "let's see him be a GM". But how many GMs get it right? Even good GMs end up cutting a huge amount of their draft picks over time. All I really pay attention to with Kiper is when he's reeling off all the stats and facts about a college player, because he's like an encyclopedia of that stuff. Whether he thinks a guy will succeed or not I don't really pay attention to.

Grading the Draft Graders?....
RobbRiddick replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The more of this stuff you read and listen to the more it confirms that these guys are just tossing ***** at a target and hoping something sticks. You really have to just enjoy it for what it is but always remember that just because they're being paid to churn this stuff out, it doesn't mean they really know what they're talking about. I was recently watching some Colin Cowherd youtube stuff regarding Josh Allen. It's HILARIOUS to watch now (seriously, go and look). In one (pre-draft) he says the Browns are idiots because they will draft Allen number 1, then says the Giants are smart and will take Darnold (guarantees it). This is especially funny after the pick the Giants made last week. In another video he says Rosen is the absolute best pick in that draft and will be a revelation for Arizona (again, really funny now they traded him for a 2nd). Then there's a great one where he's part a discussion answering the question "is it crazy to compare Allen to Newton?" This is before Allen had played a game in the NFL, Cowherd starts laughing and saying he's not close to being the athlete Newton is. Then another tool on the panel says Allen isn't even as athletic as Big Ben. My point is, it's good to have so many experts around now, because you get twice the enjoyment: the first time round you read or listen and react however you react, then the second time round you get to laugh at a guy like Cowherd for being so completely wrong. -
Shaq Lawson Option decision week. What do you do?
RobbRiddick replied to Seoulful Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With Hughes at the end of his contract and Alexander on the verge of retirement, plus all the one year deals we have, there's a potential ***** load of holes we'd have to fill in FA or the draft. I'd like to pick up his option and re-sign Hughes ASAP so we can go after the final missing pieces next year rather than filling fresh holes -
Official: WGR 6am crew as bad as 3pm
RobbRiddick replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, and I have to say I really like the segments with Coach Sal. Never used to like him back when he posted on forums and stuff and it took me a while to warm to him but he's actually very knowledgeable and doesn't constantly kiss the collective team's ass like Murphy and Chris Brown etc. -

I don't mind the WGR guys really. They're idiots but they seem pretty passionate. Bulldog was saying he was so nervous we were going to trade up in the first round that he went to a bar on his own rather than a party he'd been invited to. There are plenty of places to listen to more level headed takes, like the Bills locked on podcast. Then you have the homer stuff on One Bills Live. I like the other guys on WGR because they at least say when they think something is a mistake or that the team is bad. They're jerks but they seem wrong most of the time so I don't care if they predict doom and gloom. The thing that does annoy me is when they're unnecessarily rude to callers. Quite often someone will call in and give a reasonable opinion and they'll shut them down and then hang up. They spend all that time urging callers to phone in and get involved, only to take a ***** on them when they do. I quite like Nate Geary. -

RD 5, Pick 147: LB Vosean Joseph, University of Florida

To quote the coach in Major League: "that's good. I like to see that kind of spirit in a player." -
I just want to get to camp but a long wait is now ahead of us. Time to do the summer stuff (apparently I have a wife and kids!), let the dust settle and then get to work on those 10 or 11 wins I genuinely think this team can achieve. I think that myth has been perpetuated with Bills fans thanks to Moulds

Ed Oliver - Introductory Press Conference
RobbRiddick replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had a similar thought regarding the horseback riding but really it's no different to the guys who ride motorcycles or the guys who play lots of other sports in their free time. -
Good kid. Thick hands but small frame. Footwork is sometimes good, sometimes bad. A high motor guy who can sometimes get overwhelmed at the point of attack, leading him to be engulfed by linemen. Enjoys building model railroads in his spare time, but needs to improve the realism of his outbuildings and landscapes (trees in particular).

RD 2, Pick 38: OT Cody Ford, Oklahoma
RobbRiddick replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just had a look at the mock first round projections on NFL.com and all 8 of their analysts had Ford going in round 1. All but one of those had him between 11-18. Doesn't mean too much but it is nice that we got a consensus mid first rounder in the second. -
RD 3, Pick 96: TE Dawson Knox, Ole Miss

Don't know if this has been posted. Decent little bit of pre-draft analysis from *spit* Cowboys.com -

I'm one of those crazy people who reserves judgement until I've seen a guy play in the NFL. You can definitely see his athleticism though on film. Looks to have good hands, good size. Foster didn't do much in college but they obviously saw from the tape that he had the right abilities to do more with more of a role and more targets. I did laugh when the guys on NFL Network said he had zero TDs in college because I knew a lot of people here would lose their ***** over that. We have Kroft so he can ease into things gradually and increase his time on the field. -
New O-Line; From 31st to top 5 in one off season?
RobbRiddick replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, and if they are then I don't think 10 or 11 wins is a crazy as some people think. As I just said in another thread, a great O-line just improves everything. Even the defense will benefit as they're not having to spend as long on the field, and if we get more leads they get to be more aggressive as teams are playing catchup, meaning more turnovers. Can't wait for camp to see these guys begin to work together. -
Best Available going into Day 3.
RobbRiddick replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I expect to see some defense today. These guys have shown so far that they're good at grabbing talented defenders in the later rounds and coaching them up into quality contributors -
It's not a train wreck at all, but I would agree that I'm surprised they didn't grab one with their first third. I was expecting them to try and trade back into the second to get one. But I would say that you have to consider the O-line and the effects its re-boot will have on the passing game. On paper, the line is now the strength of the offense, and if they get a combination through camp and preseason that really gels and starts to dominate a few weeks into the season, it's going to elevate every aspect of our attack. The run game will look light years ahead of last year, and the with more time to throw, receivers are going to naturally have more time to get open. With that in mind I can see Allen throwing a lot of bombs this year to Brown and Foster. The more success Brown and Foster have going deep? The more areas are created for Beasley, Kroft and Jones, Knox etc. to get open. Plus the RBs coming out of the backfield. I know people think we're a run first team, but I could see the gameplan this year being: blitz them through the air in the first half, build a lead, then run the ball down their throats and use this new O-line to wear the ***** out of the opponent. Break their spirit!

What creates a draft BUST?
RobbRiddick replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love reading or watching stuff about the big nfl draft busts from history. Fascinating stuff. There's a great one on YouTube about jamarcus Russell. When you see all the hype pre draft, then the excitement on draft day, then he comes in weighing as much as a lineman, it's just incredible! -
