Oh, I guess he won't be getting a ring afterall. Still, he can always say he played (practiced) with the mighty Pats

I agree in that it wouldn't offend me in the slightest but I think the point here is that it is MEANT to cause a lot of offense. And the problem for the Raiders is that if they let him get away with it you know there will be people screaming double standards. Just imagine if a Ravens player had called Newsome any derogatory name for blacks. Even if Brown were to say "I don't think all white people are crackers" all you have to do is spin it around to the hypothetical Ravens player saying "I don't think all blacks are..." to see that that argument wouldn't stop said player getting crucified. It's a tough one because as I say, it doesn't offend me at all (and how many black people would say n*****r doesn't offend them?) and white people in America haven't had the same history as black people, but I do dislike hypocrisy and if something like that gets swept away then it sort of shines a light on that. It also makes rednecks think "well there you go, I can say what want because blah blah blah" and they'll constantly use this as an argument whenever they want to point out a double standard. I hate knee jerk reactions to things, but if you're preaching ALL racism is wrong then you have to punish him exactly as you would a white guy who called his black GM the N word Though I can't think of any examples where that might have happened. The only thing I can think of is the Eagles receiver who got caught on tape being racially abusive, and as far as I can recall he didn't lose his job so maybe an apology will do (I'd be more than okay with that personally, so long as he agreed to stop acting like a dick)

OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)
RobbRiddick replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm unsure of how this works. Can they just suspend him for 1 game or does it have to be at least 3 or 4 or whatever? I'm assuming they can just choose the amount they like. If so I think it'll be 1 game to show they're not a total circus, then throw him in week 2 after a ***** performance by their offense week 1. -

I have a different theory. It's the social media illness. It's made attention whores out of all sorts of people. Regular people with regular jobs who can't stop posting vague updates about being 'fed up' with no other explanation, just waiting for all those 'what's wrong?' messages to come flooding in. Brown is very heavy on social media and I think he's just become addicted to seeing all the views and comments his antics generate. If he wasn't famous he'd be busy on Facebook (or one of these message boards) trolling people and then sitting back and getting a hardon at the flood of replies -

I thought Hard Knocks would be great this year. I really enjoyed the Browns last year. Gruden, Brown, Incognito etc. Great TV if nothing else, I thought. Jesus what a snooze fest it was. I turned episodes 3, 4 and 5 off early because nothing seemed to be happening, just Gruden talking like someone with alzheimers and then yelling for them to knock on wood. When he was asking them which colleges the various players they were watching in episode 5 had played the camera showed his players looking either bored to tears or falling asleep. -

It reminds me of that line from White Men Can't Jump when Billy tells Sidney "you'd rather look good and lose than look bad and win" -

What this Bills season is all about & nobody says it!

I'd completely forgotten about Josh Allen, thanks for reminding me. It's because no one has mentioned him since February -
I put my future bets in on the Bills season today

I just bet 5k on the Jets to beat us -
I've just spent 20 minutes reading the Jets gang green forum. It's actually quite funny. I'd say 99% of them are wildly overconfident. Picking your team to win is one thing but some of the comments verge on arrogance. You'd think they were the Patriots. They're talking about Bell having 200 all purpose yards and Darnold having a career day. This is weird especially in week 1 when you have no real evidence of anything yet. Go have a read, it's great. I actually think the teams are very evenly matched after all the changes they've made. I feel good about the Bills this season but am far from over confident. Think it'll be a close game decided in the 4th quarter.

Just how important is Sundays game?
RobbRiddick replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like all this talk of assuming the Dolphins are 2 guaranteed wins. They're going to be BAD for sure, and we SHOULD win them, but wins in the NFL are always tough to get and Fitz is dangerous. They might also pull together through adversity and be a little better than people think. I'd mark them both down as wins but certainly wouldn't guarantee it - look at the Vikes/Bills game from last year. -

What will the Bills' record be this season?
RobbRiddick replied to from_dunkirk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been pessimistic for years but earlier this off season predicted an 11-5 record. Have to say, I don't feel as good about that right now for some reason but am going to stick with it. It all hinges on getting off to a fast start. -
Run:pass ratio - what's best for Allen's development?
RobbRiddick replied to NickelCity's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Earlier this off season I was convinced we were going to pass a lot early in games to try and build healthy leads, then run it heavy in the second half to break the opposing defense's back. Made sense to me, and would also allow us to let the defense loose and be aggressive to pick up more turnovers and sacks when they can tee off against the pass. Now I'm a bit more convinced that they'll just do the usual run, run pass approach but hope they don't. -

If we don’t sweep the Dolphins this year...
RobbRiddick replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fun game. If we don't sweep the Dolphins this year... ... I'll hack off my balls with a pair of nail clippers ... I'll find that Bills fan who lost 5k on the Vikings game last season and give him his money back ... I'll disguise myself as an Asian hooker and film myself giving Robert Kraft a 'massage' -
Ah, okay. Thanks for the info
