A few years ago, my nephew went to Russia. He wanted to bring me a gift so he brought me Buffalo Bills babushka dolls . (Babushka dolls are nesting dolls that are sold in an amazing variety of themes in nearly every souvenir store in Russia). I saw the little ones playing with them the other day and had a good look - and a stroll down memory lane. All of these guys are long-since gone from the Bills and, except for Lynch, long-since out of football. Looking at these, I'm reminded of Seinfeld's comment that we're only cheering for the clothing.

This is a brilliant move by the Bills. With the critical interconference game against the Bears coming up, Chicago's coaching staff has been looking at film of left-footed punters in preparation for the game, and suddenly we switch up on them. They may need to go with a left-handed return man (to get the lefty-righty advantage). The question is whether our long snapper can make the adjustment on a short week.

What about Jordan Gay? Always good to have an extra kicker who is a healthy scratch every game

It gives us an opportunity to pull up a list of Bills QBs we had all forgotten about and to shake our heads in a mixture of sorrow and awe.

Anybody here remember how good Jeff Tuel looked in preseason? The Bills were afraid to put him on the practice squad because they were sure someone would steal him.

I went to a sports bar in Rochester to watch the Bills-Bengals AFC championship game in '88. Had the misfortune to sit next to a table full of Cincy fans who were loud and obnoxious. Near the end of the game when it was hopeless I started to leave and they started ragging on me: "Aw, poor little Bills fan, can't stand to see your team LOSE???" To which I said "I'm happy for you that your team won but do you have to act like such ASS HOLES?" And one of them said "That's half the fun." Truer words were never said.

About once per game he takes a deep shot down the field. If my recollection is correct, not one of these long passes (going back to exhibition games) came within 5 yards of the intended receiver. Tyrod, with a weaker arm, threw a much better deep ball. Also, that throw at Clay's feet in the 1st quarter (when he was open) was shocking. Sadly and reluctantly, I'm beginning to think that the criticism of Josh coming out of college was accurate. Also (sorry to burst through an open door) - has the QBs coach ever coached QBs before at any level? I think not, he's a WR coach. Good but very belated move to have Anderson around.

The bigger question is how did your wife react to the fact that your faithless anti-Bills bet cost her five grand?

I always feel like a real dick. Now at least I would have a good reason to.
