You forgot "then Josh and the offense scores a touchdown late only for the defense to choke and give up the late score for the loss".

Right. Offense bungles away chance after chance to put the game out of reach, only to finally come through when we're absolutely desperate, and then the defense chokes on the last possession.

  2. I said this other places but I'm apathetic about playoffs at this point. Even if we make it, this team is going nowhere. We can't stop tripping over ourselves, and the idea that we're going to now is to pretend like everything we've seen to date didn't happen.

I feel like there's a been a death, and there has: current group's (very realistic) chances at a Superbowl. We could have won it any of the last three seasons.

I blame bad luck. I blame McBeane (even though they're responsible for our shot). I blame everyone including myself for getting sucked in when I know better.

At the same time, I'm grateful for the chance to cheer for a SB-worthy team, and in particular a SB-worthy player in Josh. I was so wrong about him. What a delight!

But I can't get excited for the rest of these games. Our cap is F'd and we need to rebuild. We need a new coach. Most importantly, we need some new hope and that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

  3. Same themes keep reappearing which is a bad sign. Pegulas will keep McD around another year because of the extension but it's becoming clearer we might need to go in another direction.

Even today, no one remembers that we came into the game with a great game plan. Hurts never saw so much zone. But then we didn't adjust when they did and as usual the floodgates opened when we couldn't hold them with our ultra-conservative brand of football.

Edit: I want to see someone do the all 22 because it's hard to catch everything live...I remember we blitzed on Eagles drive to send to OT and Hurts got rushed into an incompletion. It was one of very few.

Agreed but it can’t be with McDermott. It should be more than blatantly obvious to anybody he should be fired. It all came to a head now. Over and over again his defense cannot get a stop in a big moment. That’s all that needs to be said. We are not going anywhere further with him

He just did a big extension so like it or not he's going to be around for another year and probably two. But after years of being a McD apologist, I'm finally on board with moving on.

That’s good because they’re not making the playoffs after this loss

We could run the table and make it but we won't. We find ways to lose games.

Hyde and Poyer are old. Diggs is getting old. Tre and Von are huge cap hits. Milano is a question mark.

This team needs a year to collect assets/talent while we wait for an opportunity to clean up the cap and try to build out another team for Josh.

We can even address coaching if we give it a year.

  6. From a pure impact standpoint, I think yes. He hit his ceiling two years ago and has regressed slightly since the elbow injury last year. Like it or not, Josh will never be as dangerous escaping the pocket or with designed runs as he was in his early-mid twenties.

That said, he hasn't hit his ceiling as a passer imo, and I fully expect him to get incrementally better at traditional QB things as he ages.

  7. I will admit I liked the plan to draft Kincaid and use more 12 personnel concepts and 11 with Kincaid in the slot to better protect Josh. It could still work imo with better play calling. We're not as one dimensional playing like that.

But we still need to play spread a lot of the time too and we often didn't find the right balance or even recognize when it was time to change course. Game planning has to be part of the conversation re our poor starts.

But I disagree with putting everything on Dorsey. Josh has got to take some blame. His poor/slow decision making has led to turnovers and killed drives. He's still rifling the football sometimes leading to drops.

Our Oline with Morse is never going to be a strong running team. We're built to pass. We have to be better.

  8. This interview all but confirms what I've been seeing with Josh. We've tried to turn him into a pocket passer. Teams adjusted right away starting with the Jets game.

Josh isn't able to beat the zone, and now we've fired to the OC to "inject some confidence" into the team (read: Josh).

He's too good to not adjust. We've seen him do it before overcoming accuracy issues. It's just going to take some time.
