Wait for it....... Fitzmagic is soon coming back to NY.

Good fit.  They draft qb let Fitz start and when wheels fall off let rookie take over.  I think I can watch a Giants game just to see what Saquon will do next.  I havent been that excited to watch a  rb since Barry

I wonder how OBJ will react if the NYGs are a 6 or less win team for the next few years.

With Eli probably gone soon (2019 last year of his contract) and a new young QB coming in it is a possibility.

more likely they bring in a FA qb  They have a stud rb, #1 wr and young promising te  Draft some line help and get a qb who can move around a bit  Lets face it physically Eli is a shell of himself.  Arm is not what it was and any little bit of mobility is gone.

I think a lot of people are missing the original point.  They were arguing that Eli did terribly his first season, but a lot of people were willing to give him a pass that season, yet four games in, people are already willing to write Allen off now.

The original post has nothing to do with Eli or the Giants this season.  It was comparing Eli and Allen's first seasons, and how people reacted to them.

I thought they were talking about now.  Takes most rookie qbs some time to get going. Bills have been bad so long its tough to hang in there and have patience but that is what we all need to do.  If people want to feel better by condemning the choice of Allen its fine by me. Whatever floats your boat.  I am happy we at least took a 1st round qb.  That playoff game last year brought back by my Trent Edwards related PTSD

We’ll see.  Maybe the Giants didn’t particularly like Rosen, Allen or Darnold, and if none of those guys turns into a franchise QB, then they might have been right to pick Barkey, who is definitely living up to expectations.  But if the Giants aren’t able to get their QB of the future in this draft, they’re going to be seriously criticized, no matter how good Barkley is.

Giants will be picking top 5 in 2019 I would assume Manning is gone in 2020  They draft some OL help and good to go  On offense they have a stud RB, stud true #1 wr and what looks to be a stud TE though he was out last night.

    Drake

    Hunt

    Conner

    Cohen

    Jamaal

    Mack

    Freeman

    Hines

As I said, all 10 have either been starters already or are more like Cohen where they’re playing a lot of snaps and playing well but aren’t technically the starter.

Are all of these guys as good as Prime McCoy? No. Are they as good as Current McCoy and Next Year McCoy? Not all of them, but for the money, I’d rather have a committee including guys like this than to spend $9 million on McCoy, who’s arguably a below average starter right now and in the very least, could realistically be below average next season.

McCoy is till a top back  There arent that many 3 down rbs to begin with.  His salary is not 9 mill its 4mill 2018 and 6mill in 2019

I will meet you half way.  I promise not get too low when our rookie QB makes rookie mistakes, even when they cost us wins.  However...

When Josh Allen lights it up and carries our team on his back to victory, I am going to lose my s#!+ with joy and declare Josh the saviour that the prophets have talked about.

Sounds reasonable, we cant have that here

Never understood the injury frustration with him from fans.

It was one nagging foot injury that kept him out for most of the 2016 season. He had surgery that offseason and by all accounts was good to go that next season.(played in all 16 games for the Rams)

He played the entire 2014 season and missed a couple games in 2015. Its football. It's going to happen.

Love me some Sammy but he had a 8 game stretch of great production in his whole career  Take that out and he's good when available but not worth 16 Million a year.  I think he ends up as one of those what might have been type careers  Boatload of talent but somehow never puts it all together.  His stats don't reflect his abilities

These really point to the fact that the offensive coaching on the Bills is horrible.  McD didn't notice ANYTHING familiar about how Newton was used as a eun threat in Carolina??

This team needs an offensive HC.  McD is never going to properly oversee the development of a kid like Allen.  And Daboll is a nobody.  Probably the worst possible choice to pair with Allen.

dont forget a qb coach who hasnt coached a qb since the Carter administration

The problem is deciding the definition of "project QB" because there's no standard definition of the label or how it's applied.

The reality is that about 50% of first round QBs -- who are mostly the best prospects with only a few being "projects" -- either bust or become low level starters and/or career backups.  Only the QBs who are picked #1 are consistently successful -- about 4 out of 5 of them become franchise QBs.   Off-hand, I can't think of any first round QB who was labeled "a project" who has been successful in the last twenty years.

Among QBs taken after the first round -- who would probably all be considered "projects" -- their chances of finding success are generally between slim and none.  Most successful later round QBs tend to have reasons for why they weren't taken in the first round: Drew Brees and Russell Wilson were "too short"; Kirk Cousins was "too slight";  andTom Brady was a victim of athletic department politics that resulted in him being only a part-time starter at Michigan.   Andy Dalton seems to be one of the few non-first round QBs to consistently play at a high level from the beginning of his career, but he's had success primarily when he has the right pieces around him.

Successful real "project QBs" -- UDFAs -- are rarities, and there have only been two who have been bonafide successes in the last 20 years: Kurt Warner and Tony Romo.  Case Keenum may be another.

That is also a reflection of how short a leash those guys get.  Teams aren't going to stick with a guy like that for even a bit if he struggles Romo and Warner took off right away.  On the flip side teams typically will give a 1st rounder a very long leash.  They have much more invested and I assume there is some ego involved not wanting to accept they may have drafted the wrong guy.

The argument about drafting Allen really boils down to should they have taken Rosen instead. Anything else is ridiculous because we dont know if they could have moved up enough to get Darnold or Mayfield.   I wanted Allen or Mayfield.  I thought Allen was more risky but could be better in the long run.  I thought Mayfield's floor was at least mediocre starter but could he overcome the physical size to be truly great.  Don't like Rosen just don't think he can hold up physically to the NFL.  Darnold I cant explain it but just didnt want a USC qb  Thought too many turnovers given he played with the cast he had.

Russell Wilson is worth every penny.  That line sucks and has sucked but he more often than not makes it work and keeps himself safe by ducking down or getting out of bounds.  You can argue the money spent on the cast around him might have made the team better even with a lesser qb but he makes lemonade from lemons

  10. I think the guidelines for qbs is changing as far as the draft.  Used to be teams really focused on number of starts in college and success and you got draft gems like Andre Ware, Tim Tebow, Vince Young  Draft stock recently seems to me more beholden to physical skills than just production in college. Tannehill is probably the closest comparison to Allen  His stock jumped for nowhere based on physical tools  Scouts seem to be looking at ability to make NFL throws/durability/mobility  More of a eye ball test than in the past

  11. On paper Texans win handily  However this is a team that has two fg wins both gift wrapped by the opposing coach  They got a a early X-Mas present from Frank Reich and last week Jason Garrett went the other way with his decision and it cost the Cowboys the game. Can the Bills put two solid games together?  Can the Texans win three in a row?   O'Brien sucks, we somehow get it done 17-16
