You have 10 draft picks and lots of cap space What should be fixed first to have long term success?

A couple of frustrating plays yesterday IMO

think the wrs lack the explosion to get open I too would like to see mindless rhythm throw to get him comfortable Quick outs/slants jerk route from rbs Seems they need longer developing patterns to create any room -
Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS

Every throw from Josh Allen’s 1st start

To be fair you have a rookie qb playing a much better team. He's being asked to move the team pretty much on his own Running game is non existent Easy chunk plays nowhere to be found He missed some throws forced some balls leading to two preventable picks and a sack or two was probably on him for holding onto the ball. On the plus side he looked calm and composed in the pocket. He didnt check one read and immediately check down regardless of down and distance. He fit or tried to fit some balls into tight window. He also broke away from sure sacks for just about any qb on several plays. The two really bad throws to me we both rolling out One to DiMarco that he makes a great effort to haul in and the one rolling to his left to Peters. Lets take a deep breath and watch and see I'm sure were going to see some bumps and knocks. People have been calling for a round 1 qb for the Bills for over a decade Give it a chance -
Eli pick or fumble coming up

Star Lotulelei: Where is the Impact?
DuckyBoys replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
think you have to watch tape to see his impact if any DT playing as a space eater typically dont register a ton of tackles. Pretty sure 40-50 a season is good at his spot Still 0 after two games isnt encouraging -
hard to watch Eli. I figure Barkley will break one of the next 20 checkdowns into a big play
-
Certainly more hopeful after watching half #2. Defense woke up, KB even caught some passes including a td. Excited to see the progress Josh makes. Almost wish the Bills would just go hire a good retired qb just to sit with him during the games and show him stuff, Does Peyton want to b a q whisperer?

Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS
DuckyBoys replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets just say they trade for him and give up 4th or 5th rounder. He comes in stays out of trouble and plays well. Then what? Who is going to ink that guy to any long term contract with guaranteed money. How are you going to trust he can stay out of trouble? I love the talent but what kind of contract do you draw up to protect yourself? -
could happen if both sides get desperate enough Just a 1 year deal. It might make the games more watchable Today's Dez is maybe 60% of the guy he was in that three year peak period Never a great route runner but a physical 50/50 ball guy (though that was supposed to be Benjamin)

Debatable, lot of the stuff they run now you could not do then because of all the contact with receivers All that quick timing short stuff would have been very tough to consistently do back then
-
the Browns Julio Jones deal looks even worse in hindsight Point is passing on a elite prospect that has a much higher % of hitting is easier than throwing darts at board
-
Need some top QB's to emerge for 2019 if they want to trade down and do a better job with the haul than the Browns This is what the browns ended up with in the Wentz deal Ugghh is there even two decent starters in that list? Corey Coleman Shon Coleman Cody Kessler (Since traded for a late round pick) Derrick Kindred Spencer Drango Ricardo Louis Jordan Payton (Since released) Jabrill Peppers Deshone Kizer (Since traded, along with picks, for Damarious Randall and picks) Denzel Ward Chad Thomas

Rules were not there to protect the qb Its easier now Brady doesn't have to worry about Dick Night Train lane trying to cripple him on every down Also WR get free run of the field Back then you could shove the wr around all over the field and then Ronnie Lott could come over and decapitate the receiver. Marino's 48 tds in 84' is ridiculous when you compare the eras
-
There are some good young trench players in FA They have money to make a few long term FA investments and dont have to do it all in the draft Just make sure they continue to add several quality grade starters each draft. Its well worth a top 5 pick to get a elite LT/pass rusher/shut down corner
-
That's a good point and the qbs you mentioned (Dak, RG III, Vince Young) all had great play action from a strong running game plus RPO Each struggled once having to read coverage and make plays from the pocket was asked of them. They looked better early on because the line play was good, they were all athletic and able to make plays out of the pocket. If a qb can make plays from the pocket under duress early on I think bodes well. Especially if he has to make throws into tight windows and from we saw that is going to be the case till they get better play makes and the line improves.

Prediction: Bills will go no huddle on Sunday
DuckyBoys replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
More than worrying about Allen I'd go with whatever helps the O line. I think Allen if given any time will be competent if not even make some exceptional plays The line seems to either get overwhelmed physically or make costly mental errors that kills drives -

Two things Josh should be aware of. His hard count so far has only hurt the offense Stupid linemen evidently cant remember what count they are going on. Second change up the count go on one more often that hard counting till play clock is near zero -
McBeane's way of rebuilding makes no sense
DuckyBoys replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think they had any idea they would win 9 games last year That in of itself changed the dynamic of the rebuild by forcing Beane to make more moves to have the shot to draft a qb this year. I wonder what they would have done if Allen was gone? Which of the FA signings besides Star is more than a short term rental to fill the roster for 2018? Maybe the plan is to tank and they it right this year and get lucky and trade out to a qb needy team and land a bunch of help in 2019 -
