Brian Burns Names Bills as Showing Interest
PetermansRedemption replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With a trade down to the 15-25 range I wouldn’t mind it. -
I’ll grab the Seahawks. Could be interesting with the Russel Wilson situation.

They should have figured out revenue as an absolute bare minimum. With a new league, they should have literally estimated $0. They clearly way overshot and paid the price. I don’t think the XFL was going to survive either, but this definitely increases their chances. If they had to compete against the NFL and split the lower level feeder league talent with the AAF the XFL would be dead in the water.
-
This is absolutely nuts. How did this league not have the funding for an entire season? It is mind blowing to me. You had set costs, every player was on an 80k per year deal. You can accurately estimate travel costs. Where was the problem? How did you not have the exact figure, at least down to a very close amount.

Q. Williams to Bills in CBS Mock Draft
PetermansRedemption replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think it would take at least a 2020 first rounder to move from 9 —> 5, which I think is the absolute latest you get Quinnen Williams this year. -

Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen or Nick Bosa at 5 and I give up whatever it takes. 9th overall+2020 1st+? -
Tom Brady tweets for the 1st time ever

Maybe it’s just because I don’t have much of a sense of humor. But I hate April fools. I don’t find a “joke” funny when everyone knows what day it is. -
Giants looking at defense at #6 in draft?
PetermansRedemption replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem for the Giants is, this is far easier said than done. This is no where near the EJ Manuel drsft, that was historically bad for QBs. A few of the top guys from this draft have a chance to be decent. And 3 should go in the first round. I like Haskins a lot. The only true knock on him is mobility and the fact he is a one year starter. His body of work this season was impressive. If he were a 3 year starter he would be a top 3 lock. Murray is going 1 to Arizona, and I am not a fan of him. Taking off the biased glasses I can see the allure of him to some teams though. Lock/Jones I have rated pretty equally and both have 50/50 bust/ serviceable starter potential IMO. -
Exactly the problem with the league. It really does, and only ever will, appeal to die hard football fans. Those who will watch any type of football be it High School, College, NFL, minor developmental league. Keeping that in mind getting 250k fans to watch the game on a Saturday night is pretty good. Unfortunately for the AAF it isn’t anywhere near what they would need to survive.

If the Bills got Quinnen Williams in the first I would probably take that even if they forfeited every single other pick. -
Giants looking at defense at #6 in draft?
PetermansRedemption replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about when the decision is coupled with taking a RB second overall with an obviously aging and ineffective QB? That pretty much necessitates taking one this year, and your never getting Haskins at 17. -
Giants looking at defense at #6 in draft?
PetermansRedemption replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A) I’m not so sure. Last year Gettleman’s interests and intentions were pretty well known and came to fruition. So we have some history to go off of. And B) if this is true, then absolutely. Simply a horrendous GM. If he passes on a QB at 6 and I’m the owner of the Giants he is fired immediately. -
Sure they do. They can refuse to go, become a free agent, and are free to sign a contract with a team that doesn’t want to use the AAF as a developmental league. You always have a choice.
-
I don’t think this is the premise at all. Nfl teams wouldn’t be forced to loan their players at all, they would be given the option to develop them that way. Right now that isn’t even an option for teams because the NFLPA would never allow it.
-
The success of San Antonio has far more to do with the city than the state of Texas. 6th or 7th largest city in the country with only one professional sports team, the San Antonio Spurs. Austin is, I believe, the 11th largest city in the country and has zero major professional sports teams. Austin is located an hour from San Antonio, less of you are in the southern suburbs. That area is starved for a professional sports team. There is absolutely zero chance an NFL franchise wouldn’t flourish in San Antonio either.
-
Unless they can convince the NFLPA to loan them practice squad players I don’t think the league has any chance of survival. And this is coming from an alliance fan who has watched at least 1-2 games per week. I like it, but I can see how the market is only for the most die hard of football fans right now.

Ed Oliver to visit Buffalo
PetermansRedemption replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that happens I’m probably calling the Bucs and giving them whatever they want at 5 to trade back to 9. Josh Allen is a step above anyone they would get at 9. -
Ed Oliver to visit Buffalo
PetermansRedemption replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately I don’t see much chance Oliver lasts to 9 now. Unless there is a serious crazy run on QBs. -
We will see how many teams complain when that happens. I imagine this isn’t going to be a very well liked rule. End of the game, team throws a Hail Mary and has one challenge left. No flag pass falls incomplete. Booth reviews the play. Comes back some contact was made by the defender. Results in first and goal from the 1. Offense punches it in. Game over. That is absolutely not the way I want to see a game end. Unfortunately it’s the direction the league is going.
-
This is an idiotic move. Why these two calls only? Well, we know why, knee-jerk reaction to one blown call. I’m fine with penalties being reviewable, but you can’t just pick and choose two examples. This has to be accompanied by further rules addendums, which it is not. First of all, if this is the way the NFL is going, then every penalty needs to be reviewable. Secondly, they have to impose a hard limit on challenges. Two seems to be a good number that works. No more getting a challenge back if you win them, you have two all game. This will likely result in the coach saving that second challenge. I would bet most second challenges would go unused. Then the NFL needs to implement a “shot clock” on replay. Especially if you are challenging penalties. Referees get 2 minutes to look at the tablet and communicate with New York. If a conclusion is not reached in 2 minutes communication cuts off and the call on the field stands. The purpose of replay is not to nit pick everything, it’s to overturn egregiously incorrect calls. Especially now that penalties are challnegeable this has to be the letter of the law that the NFL sticks to.

UB Nate Oats leaving to go to Alabama
PetermansRedemption replied to Reed83HOF's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Whatever. If he couldn’t get it done with this roster he was never going to. Texas Tech absolutely embarrassed him. UB was woefully underprepared. Does Alabama even have a decent Basketball program? I don’t rememer hearing about them making any noise in the past few years.
