Meanwhile Sam Darnold looks like the best QB in the league, because we’re only 6 quarters deep which is pretty much meaningless... -

It’s those takes at this point that are hilarious. Josh isn’t even a good NFL player now? Lol ok -

I’m mildly concerned but folks are in here acting like Josh didn’t just throw an MVP caliber TD like 20 mins ago... -
Does anyone else sort of avoid this place after a loss?
Nelius replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, but then about 3 or 4 hours later I do often take a peak at the post-game thread and turn on WGR in case I missed any entertaining meltdowns. Then pretty much off for a few days until the week starts picking up. -

"Pittsburgh Confused Josh Allen" - Chris Simms
Nelius replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just in case you're not aware Chris Simms is probably the biggest Josh Allen homer not named Jordan Palmer. He loves Allen, he's almost annoyingly positive about Allen in all instances. I think this is a pretty solid, critical breakdown. Frustrating really. -
Inactivating Zach Moss
Nelius replied to ThurmanThomasEnglishMuffin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moss was impressive in college, and while it's open to personal opinion, I thought he showed some flashes last year. Regardless, considering his competition, isn't it much easier at this point to say that Matt Breida has never been an impressive player (5th NFL season) than Moss (2nd NFL season)? Breida has never really done anything other than flash potential every once in awhile, and even that was 2-3 years ago at this point. It's not as if we should all respect Matt Breida as some vet that's proven himself, he's never even been a feature back. At this point he's barely a running back. -
Inactivating Zach Moss
Nelius replied to ThurmanThomasEnglishMuffin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't mind adding Breida to the stable to see if he could recapture what he had truly 2 years ago, but I did not think it would come at the expense of Moss. Some fun Breida facts - He hasn't scored a touchdown, rushing or receiving, since October 7th, 2019. He had more fumbles (2) than touchdowns (0) last year. For all of his incredible breakaway speed, he's had only a single 20+ yard run since he was with the Niners. Only a single 40+ yard run going back to 2018. I don't know, maybe Breida can't really contribute much at RB any more, in which case he's solely an ST contributor, in which case they're really only dressing one back? That doesn't seem right at all. If they're this committed to Breida on ST as it seems then they really need to figure out a way to also get Moss dressed. -
Correct haha. I think we're in full agreement. I think our WR depth is just fine, and I think there are no more excuses. Today was a mess, but it's still just one game. I have no reason to sound the alarm on our WR depth. Now the Oline if Dawkins can't return to form, is possibly a serious issue. And our running game of course, but WR depth is not a personal concern.
-
I think this thread needs more clear examples. What's a current example of elite WR depth that the Bills should try to emulate? Gabe Davis is probably the best #4 in the league. I'll take a #4 that regularly catches TDs, but I'm genuinely interested to hear what others think constitutes great WR depth. I think we're top 5 the more I think about it.
-
How is it disingenuous to blame either the players or coaches? Who else are you going to blame? Again I don't think you blame either for the long run and today was hopefully an outlier.
-
I personally think it's really just a blip on the radar and that we have the better team with better players, including WRs, but out of your options I would put it on coaching today. Big Ben is not very good right now imo, he just gets the ball out quick and avoids pressure. But man he looked old today, looked like he was heaving a shot put on some of those throws. Offensive play calling, refs, and that awful blocked punt ruined today, imo. And as far as being limited to drafts for future WR talent I'm completely fine with that. Look at what young WRs did around the NFL today.

What I did and didn't like vs Steelers
Nelius replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean how do you not? I've regularly seen punters try to switch things up when things collapse, although it often results in panic, granted. I would want my punter to be able to adjust to situations, I don't think they're supposed to be so robotic that they slowly ignore a dude running straight at them and blocking their punt. You can't focus but also have situational awareness? -

Nelius replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No never punted but I agree about the laser like focus you're right, but if the guy is slow or simply doesn't know how to speed up his approach when things are collapsing while maintaining that focus then that seems like an issue. I don't know, he looks pretty bad on replay and people were already discussing it before this game so it's something that's on my radar now. Haack's ability aside, that was a total ST collapse - the replay is almost comical - so in general that blocked punt is near the top of my what I didn't like list. -
I feel like there's only about two teams that this applies to - having specifically an elite #1 and #2. Maybe the Seahawks and Cowboys? Can't count the Chiefs although Kelce and Hill are clearly the best offensive weapon combo in the league. I think our WR depth is top 10 so generally disagree. The Steelers arguably have a bunch of 2's and 3's and they got the job done today. Alright maybe Claypool is edging into #1 territory, kid is kind of a freak.

Everything about that blocked punt was a mess. Not a fan of Haack right now. I know the line did him zero favors and Killibrew basically went through untouched, but he looked so slow on that punt. Incredibly slow. I'm watching the replay right now and he's completely oblivious to the chaos unfolding around him. Credit to Knox and Gabe Davis on the offensive side, and Hyde, Poyer, Edmunds, Milano, and Johnson on Defense. Team MVP goes to Bass today. -
I've been talking up Famous Jameis all offseason but that GB/NO is the shocker of the week. Who saw that coming? Between the eye surgery and how much his team rallied behind him I'm not surprised Jameis lit it up but I definitely didn't expect that Green Bay dud. Davante Adams might seriously be the most overrated offensive player in the league. There's no way he's the best receiver in the NFL, I think Hopkins proved that again today.
-
Well they seem to be Josh's favorite opponent so I'm pretty optimistic we'll get it right. Miami's pretty bad, and I'm definitely not sold on Tua. Waddle and Parker look good but that's about it. I think it's pretty crazy that Gesicki only had two targets and zero catches today, I keep waiting for him to really break out and assumed he'd be Tua's safety valve.
