  1. No surprise at all. Oates is an amazing coach and he's very unlikely to reach the apex at UB. I'm sure he appreciates his time in Buffalo, but he strikes me as the kind of guy with BIGTIME aspirations. Sucks to see him go, but it was inevitable.
  2. That would make this board a "boring" place in a very positive manner if it were to occur. I guess what I SENSE is a potential ABUNDANCE of patience with this particular regime. And there are no guarantees, but this IS a pivotal year 3 for McDermott. It SEEMS as though some fans love the idea of culture and such so much that they may potentially be on board longer than they should. None of this will even be a thing if they win 9 or 10 games this year and appear to be trending upwards.
  3. I love the schedule. A) The furthest the Bills have to travel is Dallas. We generally don't fare well on the west coast. B) On aggregate, our variable home opponents have a more hostile enviroment than the road opponents. Home: Baltimore/Philly/Washington/Denver/Cincy. Cincy is really the only home opponent that doesn't have a distinct advantage in their stadium. Road: Dallas/Tennessee/NYG/Cleveland/PIT. The only truly hostile environment would be PIT and things are trending down for them. I suppose you could throw Cleveland in there, but the proximity kind of negates that.
  4. Clearly Terry is a big AB fan and doesn't want to further tarnish his rep by stating that the Bills never REALLY wanted him.
  5. The Rams and Saints do it without a huge emphasis on the tight end position, so there's more than one way to skin a cat. Agree that Daboll would love a top flight tight end, but I won't be super upset if we don't find one. You do however, make a good case with Carolina considering our QB has a similar style to Newton. Beasley is a nice weapon underneath if the draft doesn't fall our way re; tight ends.
  6. Yep. ESPN, since that's the topic, went so far as to fire someone for having an opinion. Pretty outlandish stuff.
  7. People with money very rarely get convicted. In our legal system, money talks more than justice. It is what it is. Kraft has a PR problem, but not a single criminal concern.
  8. I'm in. It's not like he's been non existent. 7 sacks in 2 years in somewhat limited action. He was drafted in RD 2 2 years ago and hasn't been a "bust" per se. 25 years old a solid athlete. Why NOT?
  9. Careful. The greatest Bills QB of all time by a wide margin scored a 15. Didn't seem to hurt him. And Kaepernick scored a 38. Honestly, that doesn't surprise me, but it's interesting nonetheless.
  10. Ivory played a crucial role in our game winning drive against Tennessee. That was pretty much the only drive he had any kind of tangible positive effect on the team. Gore's signing made this a virtual certainty. Good luck. Goodbye.
  11. Shouldn't his "presence" also diminish the need for a 3T DT? I mean, if Star is some amazing space eater, the 3T role should easily be filled because his presence makes their job essentially a cakewalk. Yet 3T DT is universally regarded as a need. What gives?
  12. Or it could be that he received a ton of "feedback" from Bills fans that triggered his response. At the end of the day, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Brandon Beane/Sean McDermott and Josh Allen will define Buffalo's immediate future; not Antonio freaking Brown.
  13. The tweet he liked specifically singled out Allen as a "run first" QB. Josh has the opportunity right in front of him to change his reputation. It's all there for the taking.
  14. I'm pretty sure they had Mike White as the #2 QB on their big board, but I can't reveal my sources.
  15. See. I actually wanted AB, but that's a different discussion. Totally understand the reasoning for those that didn't. The point about winning is this; in a city like Buffalo(or Pittsburgh/Green Bay/Cleveland, winning or the appearance you're on the precipice of winning changes everything. Oakland still has a certain lure that we simply don't have at the moment.(Despite their recent failure) That's where winning comes in. We start winning and suddenly Buffalo is a place players want to be.
  16. This was obvious from the beginning. Some people preferred the alternative that Beane decided against the move because of A.B's contract demands. It's really OK if one player didn't want to be in Buffalo. It's much easier to let go of "anger" when you just accept it. He's on the Raiders. Meh.
  17. So I assume you like Beane's FA acquisitions at the position and won't be blaming them IF JA doesn't succeed next year? It's kind of a binary choice at this point. We all WANT Allen to succeed, but I'm pretty much at the point where I want to see results and not excuses.
  18. I agree that a Satellite book would CERTAINLY run the operation. My guess would be William Hill which is based in the UK and runs ops in both DE and NJ. As far as race betting, it's also not self contained. There are thousands of OTB locals across the country that move the odds. No intent to dismiss your overall take, but that's just a fact. I would also take the contrarian view in terms of betting in a self contained environment. As much as people feel some kind of way about betting against the Bills, wouldn't you take the Patriots plus 20? All in good fun.
  19. For sure. I'm intrigued by that signing, especially since the rest of the backup LB's are pretty one dimensional.
  20. What am I missing here? It was a BAD signing. The guy is not an impact player. It's fine to be a space eater, but he used to put up SOME numbers. He's not a liability per se, but he's certainly not a strength. There's a reason DT is so in play. If Star was dominant, the 3T would be a cakewalk for whoever McD decided to line up there. It's not some contract that will strap them, but Star is not very good. It's OK to believe in the overall vision and call a spade a spade.
  21. I have NO idea why people are talking about trading a stud corner on a rookie contract. None. Unless there is a ridiculous offer on the table, this is a terrible train of thought. Have you considered that the corners playing opposite White look better than they actually are because there's a top player on the other side of the field?
  22. We drafted H but he didn't show much. Nothing wrong if he ends up being a depth player considering he was taken in the 3rd. I think people really got caught up in the Kyle comparisons with that pick. J is a nice player but also not a difference maker. If you believe Oliver is a stud and the BPA, you take him.
  23. Old school linebackers simply aren't as important as they used to be. What you want is guys that are decent in run support, but above average in coverage. Essentially glorified safeties. I wouldn't be opposed to adding a coverage linebacker, but edge rusher is lightyears more important. You win by consistently getting in the opposing QB's mug. Outside of a couple games, we didn't do that last season.
