Ed Oliver : did the scheme hold him back? (PFF article)
LSHMEAB replied to SouthNYfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coach asks a penetrating defensive lineman to eat space and then rips his jacket off. I'll take Ed's side in this rift. -
Bills showing interest in Punter, Marquette King
LSHMEAB replied to junior's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Colton Schmidt has FAR too many shanks. So many that it's not even a surprise when he BANGS a 20 yarder. He cannot be the answer. I don't care if it's Carter, Bojorquez, Wishnowsky, or Joe Blow. I'm in the ABC camp(anyone but Colton.) -
The most underrated aspect of the addition of Beasley is his ability to create space late in a play. Allen has a tendency to take off a bit early and slide around in the pocket, so a receiver able to improvise when the initial route is done is a plus.

Bills showing interest in Punter, Marquette King

Yeah. The Bills need to steer clear of anyone who has fun playing football. -
I think the BILLS offensive line has been upgraded substantially with lots of moving parts.

Ed Oliver : did the scheme hold him back? (PFF article)
LSHMEAB replied to SouthNYfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Star is being paid 10 mil a year to eat space, so one would expect the 3T DT to have plenty of opportunities to get to the QB. Interesting read about Oliver and the scheme. I'd be fine if he were the pick at 9. -
Rapoport reported a deal was finalized between the Bills and Steelers in terms of trade compensation. That's probably true. Lazy may be accurate because Brown's approval was always going to be an issue. A different reporter, forget his name, reported the very same thing but added the qualifier; AB could nix the deal.

Why do people at NFLN take Cynthia Frelund seriously?
LSHMEAB replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
She'd stand out at a bar in East Aurora, but she's definitely not special. -
Your Best Case Scenario for 2019 Draft
LSHMEAB replied to BillsfaninSB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oliver or Burns at 9, M/H Brown or Parris Campbell in the 2nd/Isaac Nauta in the 4th/Tyre Brady in the 6th or 7th. -

King makes punting fun again! Not sure it's worthy of a thread, but he's a solid option. -
Full Intelligent Breakdown of DK Metcalf
LSHMEAB replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like there will be quite a few solid options in the 2nd and EVEN 3rd at WR. If they think Metcalf is going to an all pro, so be it. Not a fan of TE in the top 10 and much like receiver, there will be some interesting prospects in the 2nd/3rd or perhaps at the end of the first in a trade up. It appears as though the BPA will be a defensive lineman and that's a good thing because it IS an area of need despite opinions to the contrary. As soon as you start thinking an entire side of the field is fine; suddenly, it's not. -
I don't think people know what to make of Haskins. He's the biggest mystery in the draft. Generally agree that the conditions are not ripe for a trade down. The only possibility is if a GM falls in love with Dewey.

The Bills Will Be Everyone's "Sleeper" Pick
LSHMEAB replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the optimism. We have a young QB with huge potential, signed a number of quality free agents, and have solid draft capital. HOWEVER, we haven't won 10 games since 1999! Much like the Chiefs and Jags, nobody is going to care about the Bills until we start WINNING. Praise/ridicule from the media is irrelevant. The last time we got serious press(other than Rex which had nothing to do with the Bills) was probably 2003. We started 2-0 and had what looked like the makings of a interesting team with a defense featuring Takeo Spikes/Fletcher/Adams. Drew Bledsoe was still considered a prolific QB. Then we went and laid an egg against the Dolphins on MNF and finished the season 6-10. So while I understand it would be nice to hear positive takes regarding the Bills offseason, none of it will determine whether we succeed or fail. After that 2003 experience, I'd prefer they remain under the radar. -
OK. So you believe the Bills should load up at corner. I think they've compared favorably leaguewide at that position in recent years, but at least I understand your argument.
-
Unless you don't consider the SuperBowl the playoffs, the Giants also beat Tom Brady twice. They did so by generating pressure with the front four, which is the key to stopping that Pats machine. Corner has GENERALLY been a strength for the Bills over the last decade. Pass rush. Meh. That's where they really need to improve. The only way to stop the franchise QB's is to consistently get in their grill without blitzing.

So in a nutshell; Cutting Russ Cockrell was a fatal blow to the Bills franchise and corner has been a huge weakness since 2014. Gotcha.

Haskins Visiting Denver and Washington This Week
LSHMEAB replied to MattM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't read too much into it. Both teams need a QB and the fact that they're visiting with a player potentially in their draft wheelhouse is entirely predictable. Maybe Washington DOES love Haskins. That would be great as a trade-down may be ideal depending on how the first 8 picks go. A visit doesn't really indicate much either way. -
Did we land a top 5 GM in Beane?
LSHMEAB replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This "salary cap hell" narrative just isn't true. The only player they had to let walk was Gilmore. They could have easily kept everyone else. They made the decision to gut the roster and purge players they didn't see as good fits. That's fine. Time will tell whether or not they can properly rebuild the roster they deconstructed. Beane has done some good things and some bad things. He does seem to have an overall plan, which is great if it works out. -
Your favorite Bills conspiracy theory?
LSHMEAB replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The kick would have been quite a bit easier on the MetroDome turf as opposed that grassy knoll. Wind was also blowing back and to the left which caused Norwood to overcompensate. -
Your favorite Bills conspiracy theory?

The Bills were a better team than the Giants. That much is true. Redskins, Cowboys X 2, not so much. -
You say you're all for BPA, but do you mean it?
LSHMEAB replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. I'm BPA at premium positions (OT's, pass rushers), especially in the top 10. A player at a non premium position would have to be head and shoulders above the field to represent value. I'll exclude QB since the Bills won't be taking one of those this year.
