  1. Man, this poor kid is never gonna live it down. I can't imagine him ever regaining the confidence to play on the biggest stage after the way his career has gone. Even if he had the requisite talent, which he does NOT, it'd be tough. I will continue to make jokes about the Peter Man, but I respect his desire and wish him well. And if anyone doesn't think it got to him, you ever see a guy tuck on run in a hail mary situation? I just don't think you ever recover from that level of "shook."
  2. Didn't like the signing and this injury comes as no surprise. Some guys just can't stay healthy and Kroft seems to fit the mold. Availability and all that jazz. The TE position is likely to hinge on whether Beane got the Knox pick right. Still, it'd be nice for THIS season IF Kroft can at least get back on the field. Tough to expect a raw rookie to step right in.
  3. Man. That was a RAPID 180. I wasn't prepared for the BUT after that glowing intro!
  4. This rarely happens, but I disagree. I think a proven 31 year old pass rusher could have gotten 11.5 mil(or more) on the open market. Obviously a lot would depend on 2019. While the sack numbers haven't been great, the pressures and overall grade(yes, I believe GM's look at those things) would make him very interesting, even at 31. I was thinking anything less than 13 mil would be reasonable, so I'm good with the contract.
  5. This. I love the signing, but it does not quash the need for pass rushers going forward.
  6. It makes sense considering the dollar figure. Excellent value for the Bills. Great news. I STILL want another pass rusher, but this settles the Hughes issue and he clearly wants to be in Buffalo.
  7. Appreciate these responses. It makes much more sense now. Don't see any way he ends up in Buffalo and still think he's overrated and a huge risk to "fall off," but I get the rationale.
  8. In this absurd hypothetical world, you'd be paying him 12 mil less than the contract he signed.
  9. Haha. Perfect outward demonstration of "it's not my fault."
  10. Exactly. If the Bills or any other team were interested, they should have signed him. Maybe acquiring him via trade would leave the Jets on the hook for some of the $? Have no idea on that. The TRADE market would be extremely slim. Maybe a 6th or a 7th.
  11. You make a good point, but there ARE plenty of opportunities throughout the course of a game for 2 interior pass rushers. If the price is right, I'd consider it. And I'm not down on Phillipsx2 per se. Just not entirely sold. It would be a luxury addition to be sure, so the price would have to be right. I'm a big pass rush guy so I'm always intrigued by available talent with a proven track record of making QB's uncomfortable.
  12. Are we though? I think the interest in McCoy is partially based on lack of full faith in Star, Phillips and Phillips. Star is steady, but.....I won't go there. Harrison Phillips was solid against the run, but didn't show a ton of pop. Jordan Phillips made a few great plays, but wasn't a true difference maker. I have full faith in Oliver and you know what you're gonna get with Star. I'm not so sure about the others. The DT group is solid, but you can never have enough of them; especially guys that get to the QB.
  13. Honest question. Is there any empirical evidence that particular RB's had a significant increase in YPC as games progress? Even if it were the case, you could partially attribute that to a defense that's been worn down by their battles with the OL. The NFL, like all sports, is adapting and creating more specialty roles. MLB now has OPENERS. I guess I feel like players should be ready to go when their number is called. If you're a standout, you're gonna get plenty of opportunities to get into a rhythm. If not, maybe it's time to create some kind of ritual to prepare yourself when you get your shot.
  14. It's not going to happen, but it's kind of absurd to assume the Chargers would be digging out of an 0-5 hole. The LAC are equally, if not more talented than the Bills teams Taylor QB'd to a winning record. It's an interesting idea in theory. In reality, it would cause more harm than good because it would most certainly cause locker room issues. It makes more sense to simply limit the passing attempts as much as possible throughout the course of the season.
  15. Not exactly bold, but LT Nsekhe, LG Dawkins, C Morse, competition at RG, and Ford at RT looks like a really solid OL.
  16. Because I have eyes. Define thrived? 50 TD's? No. But he doubled the production of his predecessor Alex Smith, a quality QB in his own right. Are the Chiefs stacked? Yes. Is Patrick Mahomes a transcendent talent? Absolutely. He would have been a star wherever he was drafted. However, NONE of that will matter if Allen is the real deal.
  17. Doug Pederson once challenged 2 yards of field position on 2nd down. Nowhere near the first down marker. This was during his first season and I was convinced he was a bust. Not so much. As to the OP; Such archaic thinking. I support any measure to get the calls correct. The officials are not part of the game and that's a ridiculous argument. The players, and the players alone, should determine the outcome.
  18. That's what I thought after the initial tryout. At this point, I have to assume Reich sees something in the kid. RJ was a first ballot 7 on 7 passing drill Hall of Famer.
  19. You may very well be right, but I've always been a skeptic when it comes to how someone is publicly viewed. It's not entirely uncommon for a "good" guy to be a scum bag and vice versa. Most likely he's a great guy, but I don't know that as a fact. As to the OP, Glenn isn't a kid anymore and he's had multiple injuries. Seems like a good move for both the Bengals and Glenn.
  20. Doesn't sit right with me that Jonah Williams said he'd only play LT. I get it to a certain extent; that's where he wants to play and he's willing to slip in the draft so I respect that aspect. Still, just seems like diva behavior. How's he gonna behave if he doesn't do well at LT? I'm glad we drafted Oliver and Ford.
  21. When I say it trumps all other issues, I'm saying it's the most important issue. I don't disagree with any of your talking points and that's exactly the way any potential Dem needs to approach the campaign. My only counter on the approval ratings would be the Bradley effect(sort of). There's a lot of people who don't want to admit they support Trump, which is kind of odd, but is a thing. I would say re-election is a 50/50 prop right now; much higher than some Dems want to accept.
  22. Can't stop laughing at the Browns design with the stupid looking dog. Not a fan of the Bills designs(at all.) The Chargers helmet at the top of the page is the only one I like.
  23. Agreed. Josh also has the edge on guys like Trubisky and Goff in that he'll be playing in the same system under the same coordinator. Developing chemistry between coordinator/QB can take time just as it can take time for new players to get on the same page. The Bills still have below average talent, namely at receiver, but there's enough to work with. The talent is not such that you'd expect an MVP type season, but I expect Allen to make a pretty significant stride in year two. Not quite sure what the debate is about.
  24. They won't. Their fundamental (honest) opinion is that the government should play little/no role in healthcare and the ultimate objective is simply to undo the ACA. There was never going to be a "replace." I don't agree with the position, but it's a position. That's not particularly popular, so they'll dance around it. That's my perception, anyways. Ultimately, the economy trumps all other issues. Barring a recession, Trump has a very good chance at re-election. For all the moral outrage, people will almost always vote in their own self interest. Nothing wrong with that.
