  1. They have a terrible track record in terms of offensive acquisitions. They've also produced very solid drafts, almost exclusively with defensive players. That's the problem. Agree 100% that they need to have dramatically improved their batting average WRT this offseason's offensive signings. At the end of the day, so much will depend on the first round of the 2018 draft. If Allen and to a lesser extent Edmunds pan out, the Bills will be in good shape. If not, it's gonna be a long couple of years.
  2. I've definitely seen "they'll get 5 years no matter what PD." I would assume that infers that they're not gonna go 0-16, but I've heard it. I think fans in general have a strong affinity for Beane and McDermott. Probably Beane to a greater extent. They SEEM to be running the organization "professionally" compared to year's past. That emotional investment SEEMS to be so strong that they're willing to give them a long leash "no matter what." I believe they would have a change of heart if the product is a disaster, but that's my perception of the whole "5 years no matter what thing." I think they've done some good things and some bad things. I think McDermott has done an outstanding job with the talent at hand. What's different about this season is that the cap hell thing is over. Beane has had the ability to bring in his guys. So while it's not playoffs or bust, progress is a must. For me, it's all good and well that there seems to be a solid structure in place, but W's and L's is all that really matters. Tom Donahoe appeared to be laying a solid foundation until he wasn't. That in no way means that Beane and McDermott will fail. We all (presumably) want to see the Bills win ASAP. It just means that the culture and all that jazz has to translate to the field sooner rather than later. We've really only seen chapter one and it's a mixed bag. I'm anxious to see what they produce in 19.
  3. Yeah. THAT is a weird phenomenon. I would think if one were entirely sold on the regime, they'd be expecting a big season. I'm cautiously optimistic knowing it all starts and ends with Allen. If I fully believed in the regime, I'd be much more bullish. Good post, but I respectfully disagree here. Allen playing poorly could very well cause Pegs to get reeeeally itchy. The top ten QB almost always outlasts the FO/HC.
  4. That's pretty much the way I see it. It's a little tasteless, but unless the guy is a Kevin Everett like situation, I don't personally feel any outrage at the fan reaction. The only time I'd find it disgusting is if a player's life was on the line. For the record, I wouldn't cheer an injury. Good luck with that.
  5. Do NOT contact her if you want to have any chance of getting her back! It sucks man. The worst. My EX of 7 years ended up with someone else when I was living in Seattle. We weren't really together at the time. I don't know how you'd describe it. As soon as she was gone, I knew I'd screwed up. I would get drunk and give away ALL my leverage trying to get her back. Nothing turns a woman off quicker than too much attention. At this point, I have a great deal of control back and that's really all I care about. She came over to my house a few months ago telling me I was right about such and such. I had to tell her to beat it because I'm just not prepared for that pain. She played me too many times, so I decided I just wanted to win. I've been with several women since we broke up 5 years ago, but I don't believe I'll love again. I still love her and I think you only find one. If it's never gonna happen, at least maintain CONTROL. Like I said, NO CONTACT.
  6. "Why do you even post here?" That could easily be construed as a suggestion that the poster not post.
  7. I'm just praying Golden State finds a way to win the series so the Bills don't move to Toronto.
  8. That was the first thing I noticed. If he REALLY wants to become an upper end LT, this is a must. Looks to me like he wants to keep his job.
  9. I don't think it's out of the question. Top ten QB's don't tend to play the backup role for long. He will be starting at some point in the season, probably sooner rather than later. JMO.
  10. This is it in a nutshell. He looked like he was having fun in college. At times, he appears to be intimidated in the NFL. He's got to ability to ***** the ball with regularity, but he's overthinking everything. My hope is that with an "uneventful" offseason and an impressive new physique, he can get some of that confidence back. Some may view the physique thing as silly, but personal improvement could very well bring out the best in someone, especially when psychology seems to a factor.
  11. Ok. I'll say one LAST thing on this; part of the reason I didn't like Flutie was that it didn't feel like the "Bills." Very hard to articulate or quantify, but it felt like something very different. He had a legion of (NON BILLS) fans that came out of the woodwork to prop him up and subtly dismiss the rest of the team. "He MADE Moulds" was one of my "favorites." Yeah, they had a nice rapport, but they acted like Doug Flutie picked up some bum on the street and turned him into an All-Pro receiver. Then I'd watch the NFL PrimeTime highlights of a game we won 14-10 on the back of the defense and see nothing but the jump pass he completed for a few yards. For that reason, I'm biased...so there's that.
  12. There are far too many small school DL's who had great success in the NFL to cite, but Michael Strahan, John Randle, and DeMarcus Lawrence come to mind immediately. That scouting report doesn't concern me. His job is to penetrate, not clog up the line. He was misused at Houston IMO.
  13. Don't disagree with much of what you said, but let's just call a spade a spade; if they hit on Allen, they'll be fine. The fate of the regime rests with Josh Allen.
  14. Yeah, but I remember Kyle flashing pretty quickly. Flash doesn't mean sacks or TFL's because that will never be H. Phillips strong suit. It could be pushing the LOS back, batting down a ball, anything really. I didn't see it. He could be a run stuffing force or he could be Tim Anderson. I don't think there's enough evidence yet. I take your point that it's not a make or break year per se. He could very well be a guy that slowly and steadily improves, but that would mean at least one step forward in 2019.
  15. I don't believe in karma or football gods, but I think Flutie and RJ were pretty interchangeable. Neither one of them was particularly good. RJ played well enough to win, but stuff happens. And no, I wouldn't have replaced Kelly with Reich. It KINDA seems like you're comparing DOUG FLUTIE to JIM KELLY. That's pretty out there. I'll call it a day and leave the Flutie/RJ stuff alone. Dead horse. As to the OP, "proud" seems like an odd choice of words, but we certainly have some likable players. I'll personally like them quite a bit more if they win a lot of games.
  16. I hope you're wrong, but I fear you're right. The measurables are a huge concern, but I do like that he has a nose for the endzone. The dream scenario is a Travis Henry like impact. I didn't like the pick, but time will tell as they as. With RB's, you generally know right away what you have, so he certainly has a chance to breakout. If he's the real deal, he shouldn't have any problem taking carries from Gore/McCoy.
  17. Ah. Yes. Slipped my mind. If Singletary is the real deal, he's definitely a top candidate.
  18. Please. Flutie had his chance in the playoffs the previous year and he lost to a team that lost the following week by 100 points. Fumbled the game away. RJ lost (on a pretty rare play) to a team that went to the SB.
  19. Flutie was a poor man's Trent Dilfer. It WAS our #1 ranked Wade Phillips defense that lead to success. Lost in the RJ/Flutie debate was the fact that NEITHER of them were good. That was a SB caliber team if they had a real QB. Flutie really light it up in San Diego! Well, that one game against us anyways. Most overrated(by some) player in franchise history. Losing to the Harrisburg Steelers for a playoff spot erases anything positive Bledsoe did in a Bills uniform.
  20. Cole Beasley the human being is completely different than the picture one would gather from casual observation. He's not for everyone. I happen to be a fan of a little "swag" as the kids would say. I think a little personality is a good thing for the franchise. You think Josh Allen doesn't have "swag?" He's got an overdose. Awe shucks with the media, but mucho bravado on the field.
  21. Yeah. They should have defined personal pressure vs team pressure. If we're talking team pressure, JA is obviously number 1. If we're talking personal pressure, it's pretty much any fringe player.
  22. Yeah. The Bills shutout at NE may not be the greatest example. Nevertheless, Bill Belichick's career record as HC without Brady is 53-61. That's a pretty large sample size.
  23. That's my guy. I fully expect him to be a major contributor and someone who can help mask our deficiencies at TE. He'll be Allen's best friend if JA can learn to take what the defense gives him. Again, that's my guy.
  24. I think it's fair to place H. Phillips on the list. He didn't show a ton as a rookie and this will be his opportunity to step up or perhaps find himself hopping from team to team for a few years. He's got to make the most of his opportunities. People got caught up in the Kyle comparisons when he was drafted, but the fact is he's an unproven 2nd year player who didn't flash as a rookie. It's not really critical for the Bills as a whole that Phillips steps up, but it's critical for his career trajectory.
  25. This is where two seemingly contradictory things can be true. BB IS an outstanding coach AND Tom Brady has elevated BB's status. Bottom line is you need a quarterback and Brady is the greatest of all time. BB's track record as a HC says as much. I suppose you could call it a match made in he** from a Bills perspective. BB would still be an outstanding coach without TB, but unless he found another franchise QB, not the invincible force he appears to be. The last time the Bills played the Pats without Brady, we shut them out in GILLETE! Think about that for a second. He would have to find another great QB and that is easier said than done.
