  1. Lot's of "Friday Night" posts. I think those of us in the new stadium crowd understand that NEF is "historic" for Bills fans. It's not some landmark that out of towners are gonna demand to see. Based on the nostalgia angle, no team would ever build a new stadium. I get it. People love the stadium and have incredible memories in OP. But the benefit of a new stadium in Buffalo would outweigh nostalgia. Even minor things like the altered skyline would be a good thing for the city. I have no doubt that Pegs WILL build a new stadium, so it's probably best to get on board.
  2. Setting aside the fact that our receivers were not good, this is more an indication of Brady knowing exactly where to go with the football. This doesn't indicate Allen can't improve. It is an indication, at least to me, that he's got to get better at finding the correct target. I don't think that's some earth shattering critique. Someone mentioned this regarding Rodgers and Brady early in the thread, and it was spot on analysis. The greats only throw into tight windows when absolutely necessary because they're looking for the perfect option; a guy who's gotten lost in coverage with an opportunity to continue to run after the catch.
  3. I think it's largely semantics. Last season, Milano was a BETTER linebacker than Tremaine Edmunds. While the "leader" of the defense is generally the guy calling the plays(MLB), there are plenty of examples of someone other than the MLB earning the designation of leader of the unit or even overall defense. Different people are going to have different opinions about what "leader" even means. Edmunds has the potential to dominate, but I won't be surprised if he ends up at OLB or even edge if his run instincts don't improve dramatically. He was a 20 Y/0 MLB, so there is no reason to believe he can't. Still wouldn't be shocked if the coaching staff decides his skill set transitions better to edge. Far too many times, he completely took the wrong angle and that leads to chunk plays a large percentage of the time when it's the MLB's misdiagnosis. He's got to cut down on that to stay at MLB. Again, 20 Y/O rookie so we shall see.
  4. Pegula seems very much committed to the idea of modernizing and leaving the past in the past. A downtown stadium would be different and the tailgating aspect would be dramatically altered. But just like all the recent stadiums built in cities "comparable" to Buffalo, the gameday experience is what you make of it. Different isn't always bad. The days long outdoor party would be gone, but fans would find a way to replace it IMO. I've loved the atmosphere for each game I've attended in OP; but I'm willing to see what they come up with downtown before casting judgement. At the end of the day, the number 1 draw for me personally is watching the Bills play football.
  5. I mean, there were 33 teams vying to hire Gregg Williams as Head Coach. From that perspective, it's a little surprising that Rob can't land a LB coach job.
  6. He's not going to get a "big" contract because teams are looking for ends to get to the quarterback, not set the edge. Even if they're looking for edgesetters, they don't want to pay them. They'll just draft one or sign one on the cheap. I think he's shown enough to expect something in the 5 mil a year range. Alot will depend on this season, but he's only gonna get paid if he does something crazy like put up double digit sacks; which I don't expect. Is it really that difficult to find an edge with Shaq's skill set? That's my issue. Anything greater than 5 or 6 mil a year would be an overpay IMO. Appreciate your perspective of the nuaces of McDermott's defense.
  7. If Singletary was a good pick, there's a solid chance he's not on the team in 2019. When you draft a running back in the 3rd round, the expectation is that he'll be an immediate contributor. Not sure where that leaves Shady. If Singletary doesn't look the part in camp or preseason, they could keep Shady around and cut Dimarco. Gotta keep all your options open if there are question marks. Yeldon is 6 years younger and surprisingly effective as a receiver out of the backfield. I think they'll want to keep Shady around if they're not sold on Singletary. I don't think we could even get any UDFA choices for McCoy.
  8. Not sure if that was said in jest, but I agree either way. I think he's a good quarterback. I'm just not 100 sold. The injury issues are a concern and I don't think he sees the field all that well. I've seen him improvise quite a bit, but he OFTEN tucks and runs as opposed to Mahomes who is always looking downfield. I'm personally OK McDermott passed on Watson. Mahomes; not so much. Time will tell if Allen makes this a moot point.
  9. Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? It would be plenty of evidence. What Pegs thinks is an entirely different story. McDermott starts his career 9-7, 6-10, 8-8, and 7-9 WITH the franchise QB in place and that wouldn't sway you? You are a very patient man my friend.
  10. My personal observation has been that he was having fun in college playing against AAC corners. He appears to be intimidated by the competition in the NFL, which is why I alluded to the psychological aspect. And I think he ran a 4.45, but just as some guys play faster than their 40, some play slower. He falls into the latter category. I've never once seen him get separation on a go route. Not once. He's gonna have to really fight for the football if he wants to truly be effective.
  11. THANKS ALOT! Eerily similar. My only hope with Zay is that something clicks psychologically in 19 because a WR with his physical limitations has got to be a killer. He's been the opposite thus far in his NFL career.
  12. I've watched them play quite closely and based on those observations, Milano a)makes plays, and b)isn't out of position. You don't think the Pats took advantage of his absence? Milano is a stud. Edmunds has GOT to improve his recognition or I'm not sure he's a MLB. It's quite possible that Edmunds would be an even better WILL than Milano, but that's not what the team is looking for out of the number 16 pick.
  13. Twas a joke Ethan. Character matters; to an extent. At the end of the day, talent prevails. The 90's Bills weren't exactly choir boys.
  14. Exactly. I don't care about 4.3 40's, rocket arms, recovery speed, or even technique. You give me a team full of gritsters with a touch of moxie and we're going to the Promised Land. No doubt in my mind.
  15. My "gut" tells me had we taken a QB, it would have been Watson. He's put up solid numbers, but there's something about his game I just don't like. Allen has far more upside than DW IMO, so there's that.
  16. I think the supporting cast thing is SLIGHTLY overblown. Yes, Kelce and Hill are(were) outstanding players and Hunt was a nice RB. Andy Reid is also a very good offensive coach. That doesn't explain 50 plus TD's considering Alex Smith put up 25 with those same players. I'm not just talking numbers. It's hard to imagine watching Mahomes play and not being blown away by his ability to improvise and make things happen. Like I ALWAYS say, the Mahomes pick won't matter if Allen pans out. The obstacle for Allen is going to be more quickly identifying his short/intermediate targets when that's the soft spot and delivering with a little more touch. That's an objective independent of the trash we trotted out at WR and TE last season. They've added "enough" talent to make it work if he can improve in this area. Physical talent will certainly never be an issue for JA.
  17. Eh, I don't know about all that. Sounds kinda like Smithers telling Mr. Burns they weren't booing; they were saying "BooURNS."
  18. I think it's OK to be suspicious of Watson. I think it's pretty out there to be suspicious of Mahomes. VERY few things would be stranger than a guy throwing 50 TD's in his first season as a starter going on to fail. VERY few things. It's OK to admit Mahomes is awesome. If Allen is the real deal, who cares?
  19. How many targets did Zay get compared to T. Williams? Zay's numbers really have to be taken in context; he was the primary weapon by default as a member of the worst receiver unit in the league. If he can't beat out Foster or Brown, then what? At this point, he looks like a #4. We'll see if that physique improves his confidence.
  20. Didn't you used to bash every move the Bills made? What gives?
  21. That's gonna be the key. I don't expect much from Murphy, but if Oliver is as good as advertised, he'll not only make plays, but create opportunities for others. The defense would be dominant if they had a stud LDE. They struggled for long stretches in terms of getting to the QB. That's really my only concern defensively in 19. He needs to either call the plays of get it through Frazier's head to be more aggressive.
  22. Milano is the most proven by far. Edmunds represents tremendous upside, but he wasn't exactly "great" as a rookie. You know what you're getting with Milano and that's big plays and range. Only downside is he's not strong at the point of attack, but that's not what they ask of him. Like Gunner, I feel like this could potentially be the best NFL LB trio by 2020. Big fan of Vosean Joseph. I wouldn't be SHOCKED if he was starting by the end of the year, but agree that it's not likely.
  23. I love our unis. My only real gripe is that I prefer the standing buffalo helmet WITHOUT the blue stripe.
  24. The K man ended up regretting that rant! Not so sure that'll be the case here.
