  1. Yep. I have no problem with young running backs doing what they can to maximize their earnings. This could be his one chance to cash in. And with the element you mentioned, he's got serious leverage.
  2. I'm perfectly fine with that barometer. I'm NOT fine with the idea that this thing should take more than 3 years.
  3. If AROD is qualified to provide commentary on PRIMETIME MLB games, then I can live with Leaf offering some analysis on CFB. Honestly, it probably is a bit of a name grab, but I've never really heard him discuss football. We shall see.
  4. The only serious threat I know of with a blood clot is a PE. I'm not quite sure what's going on with this one.
  5. Would you say the same of the other elite QB's or are you implying Brady is simply a product of his environment? He doesn't have elite physical talent, but he's an elite QB. Best to ever play IMO. Would Joe Montana, John Elway, Johnny Unitas, Favre/Rodgers not have been successful elsewhere? ELITE QB's will win a lot of games over the course of their career. An OLD Montana took a "decent" Chiefs team to the AFC Championship. I liked the results of that game, but the point stands.
  6. I enjoy reading your posts, but I don't have the same level of patience. Actually, it's not really a matter of patience. If I see TRUE progress and have a reason to believe 2020 will be better, I can wait another year. If they don't make serious strides, then I will lose faith that the following year is going to be that much better. I am not anti Beane/McDermott. My quibble is the timetable. I personally expect to see results in year 3 now that they've had some time to build a roster "in their image." If not, there will be serious doubts about the plan. I really can't think of any modern examples where a successful, sustainable rebuild took more than 3 years.
  7. I would assume most men Kyle's size have a difficult time exercising the torque to excel at golf. He's one of those big guys that will shock you when they start hooping. The kind of guy who'd get picked last and then dominate the game.
  8. I'm an Allen skeptic, but this thread is theoretical and mainly opinions about how JA's style of play compares to other QB's. Not a prediction than Allen will replicate Elway's success. Seems like an unnecessarily flippant response.
  9. That 13-6 record without Brady is a case of blatant cherry picking. His record without Brady in NE is 18-17. Why in the world is Belichick's first season exempt? When you factor in his time in Cleveland, he has a losing record without Brady.
  10. That's exactly where I'm at. This notion of replicating what the Patriots have done is a pipe dream. The Bills window is not YEARS from now. We have the HC, QB, and OC all going into year 2 together. That's more continuity than the Bears or the Rams, for instance, who made quantum leaps immediately upon hiring a NEW HC/OC in the QB's 2nd year. As far as the roster rebuild, that could get old quickly. They've had some time to develop a roster they're comfortable with. With Allen on his rookie deal, the time to win starts now.
  11. Agreed that JA has solid pocket awareness, but hasn't yet consistently demonstrated where and when to distribute the ball. I'm sure this is a focal point of his offseason regimen. Rivers takes his share of sacks, but he's got sneaky good pocket awareness. Slides well and avoids incoming pressure at a pretty high level. I was more comparing their style of play behind the line of scrimmage as well as attitude. They both play with a certain "swag."
  12. Here in New Mexico, we have a swamp cooler that sucks in air and uses water to cool the house. This only works in desert environments because the humidity would render it useless. It's gonna be 100 plus for a week, so it's not super effective. It's fine at 95, which is the average in June and July. Those are the only two months it's a bit of an issue. Meh.
  13. Right. And to this point, JA has nowhere near the accuracy or awareness. I see similarities in the moxie, size, improvisation, and quick release.
  14. Yeah. I'm UNcomfortably numb to it. It would be a HUGE setback for the franchise, but it wouldn't be a shock. Been there, done that unfortunately. Many, many, times. I envy those with unbridled optimism.
  15. Incorrect. RJ and Jonathon Linton didn't stay in their lanes on the return. Rob went directly at Wycheck instead of "staying home." Linton can be excused as he was simply following the so called leader of the team. It was unusual to see a QB on kick coverage, but he was called upon and failed miserably. Doug was a special teams ace; could have been a gunner. And yeah, I never want to see that play again.
  16. I don't get it either. I'm thinking maybe Saturday drink fest.
  17. I understand your point about sustained success, but Belichick and Brady won a Superbowl their first season together. I think many of us would be much more confident that sustained success was on the horizon if the Bills were to, God forbid, win a SUPERBOWL. It didn't take them long to start winning.
  18. Well, Belichick did win a SB the previous season, his second with New England. These things can come together quickly if done properly. Results are the only true measure of success.
  19. The video you posted provided a much clearer picture of the entire incident. Cop was very professional at the beginning of the interaction. Really had no option but to taze him given McDowell's size. With full context, I would agree the cop handled his business properly. McDowell turned a simple DUI(yes, I know it's bad) into a complete legal mess. Alcohol/whatever he was on and driving/interactions with law enforcement are a recipe for disaster. Hopefully he learns something from the incident because he's going to pay a steep price.
  20. I LOVE reading the 1 star novels; absolutely hilarious. These are the people holding up lines all over the country with ridiculous complaints.
  21. I think the Jefferson "reception" was an even more egregious error than the PI call. They NEVER throw that flag, but Jones did interfere. I'm not even sure Jefferson had ONE foot in bounds, let alone past the sticks. Ridiculous. That reel also triggered my anger at the highlights during the Flutie era. A little razzle dazzle! A two yard shuffle pass that didn't lead to a first down. The Moulds TD was ALL him. He was something else in his prime. They pretty much never showed negative Flutie plays, which were plentiful, nor did they give credit to a dominant defense. The highlights they'd show had NOTHING to do with the Bills and everything to do with the original St. Doug; just they way he likes it.
  22. He'd probably be a lot like Lamar Jackson. Flutie was more savvy, but less athletic. The article is overly simplistic IMO. It was all about Doug.
