  1. I'm not even taking a side. I think the Jets have some advantages and the Bills have some advantages. Just noting that skill position players(outside of QB) are not a defining metric when comparing two teams.
  2. Darnold proved more efficient as a passer, but Allen has more potential to grow. Darnold was pretty much a finished product coming into the league. I'm not gonna say Allen will grow enough, but the ceiling is much higher. I'd have to rate them about equal right now. Not quite sure why you'd rattle off skill position players as the defining answer to the question, but Beasley is better than Crowder.
  3. I would actually love to sign to see them sign Bynes in the event that Edmunds doesn't quickly improve his recognition skills. It would take some creativity on McDermott's part to swap Edmunds over to SAM, but that's kind of his job.
  4. Nobody. It's not going to happen this year. They committed to Edmunds in the middle. I would have liked to see them bring in a vet MLB. You can find "reliable" middle linebackers pretty easily. They're clearly all in. Edit; Maybe Bynes.
  5. I don't know. I'd prefer to see 1500 YPG. Once you hit the 2000 yard threshold, it probably means we're trying to mount a comeback. Rather play with a lead.
  6. I'm buying the best product. Probably wouldn't make a dent even if every single Bills fan boycotted Gillette, and that's not going to happen. Too many things going on in life for this level of petty; I get it. If it makes you feel better, cool. It wouldn't register on my radar.
  7. Also concerned with Edmunds, but I don't think it would take much grooming time if it doesn't work out at MLB. His only issue is recognition and excellence in this category is not critical at OLB. He'd be an All Pro OLB IMO.
  8. That's exactly where I'm at. His FA acquisitions have not been good. Period. I get it. They chose to rebuild. But I expect to see serious progress this season. He's made a clear and distinct footprint on this team, so it's his now. If the FA acquisitions pan out and Allen/Edmunds progress, there's reason for optimism. If not, I'll probably lose faith in the process. But that's just me. I need to see it THIS season. Revisionism is a "heck" of a drug. Results in 2019 should be EXPECTED.
  9. I know this is not a popular opinion, but McDermott has proven more as a HC than Beane has as a GM. The draft is a crapshoot. Allen and Edmunds have all the talent in the world, something Beane covets, but there's no guarantee that poor coaching would be the only reason they don't perform well. They both demonstrated some big potential, but also quite a few flaws. Beane has not been successful in the FA arena up to this point. He's been hamstrung by the cap by design, so this season's FA signings will be very telling. McDermott took a 5-11 roster to the playoffs. Yes, they were 9-7. Yes, they got "lucky," but he did a terrific job of winning the games they needed to win, including some surprising upsets like AT Atlanta. The going for a tie was his most egregious mistake that season, so let's hope he's learned from it. This is a big season for both.
  10. Huh? You'd think Kaepernick was the Bills starting QB based on the insertion of his name into topics that have nothing to do with him. Very odd. It is pretty crazy that Leaf beat us in his first game. I remember it well. RJ had chance after chance and didn't get the job done. Remember it mostly because I was super excited about RJ. "The offensive line sucks." That's a common issue/non issue among QB's who lack pocket awareness. Bledsoe ALWAYS had a terrible offensive line.
  11. Ah yes. The O'Donnell SB. Forgot about that one. That Dallas team was stacked, so I'll give him a pass for the L. Nevertheless.....
  12. While I agree, he can't give the naysayers or even the supporters a single thought when it comes to his recovery. It's all about Ryan(share the name and the issue). Sorry for veering away from football. Go Bills!
  13. For sure. I have respect for anyone who works their a** off to get off that downward spiral. It takes courage and fortitude. It's far more difficult to get off that path than to never travel it. Leaf could have easily given up on life, but he didn't. He fought. It doesn't absolve him of fault for his previous transgressions, but it's certainly something to be lauded. If you or a loved one has never experienced addiction/mental health issues, you'll never fully understand. It'd be great to see him continue down the positive, productive path.
  14. The majority of the short, accurate throws I recall were one read and release. Basically sticking it on a receiver on a short post. If he's going to mesh with Beasley, he'll have to get better at quickly making a decision as the play develops.
  15. I don't wholly disagree, but I think the Bills have enough pieces in place to improve their run defense IF Edmunds develops. That is going to be the most important factor as to whether or not the defense can get better in the run game as well as the RZ; a close second will be Murphy's health and Lawson's ability to at least get a little bit better at tackling the QB (regarding RZ D). I would have liked to see them add a Clark or a Clowney, but that ship has likely sailed. I would also say speed/coverage linebackers are fine against the majority of modern running backs IF the defensive line holds up. I'm looking at you STAR(seems ironic). I'd actually prefer speed/coverage linebackers against Bell, but he's a whole different animal. This is a pass first league despite the examples you cited(and they were good ones) so I'm perfectly fine with the "type" of LB's the Bills are assembling. We'll see if Edmunds can improve his recognition. I'm unconvinced. Rarely disagree with any of your posts, so I had to shoot my shot!
  16. He was there for a LONG time and I'm sure he had input into QB decisions. After like 20 years, he finally found one in Roethlisberger. When you coach somewhere for well over a decade, the QB issues are on YOU. I don't believe he had what it took to outcoach Belichick consistently, so I'm not convinced he'd have won any more rings than Tomlin. During the majority of his tenure, football's greatest dynasty didn't exist. Yet his team didn't even APPEAR in a SB until his final season. He's right on par with Tomlin, who also has his flaws. No better. No worse.
  17. Cowher was a rich man's Andy Reid who sort of lucked into his ring. If it weren't for that championship season, he'd go down as a guy who consistently won, but never got over the top. He was a very good coach, but so is/was Tomlin. I think Tomlin is entering that stage where a change of scenery may serve him well. Cowher is not a demonstrably better HC than Mike Tomlin.
  18. He was a complete a** in his younger years based on some internal demons. Got a college gig and blew it by stealing drugs from a player. Ended up entering a random house looking for pills and payed a STEEP price. He was imprisoned for about 2 years. However, there's a 30 for 30(I believe) that documents his struggles as well as his redemption story. He's a big NA/AA guy and came across as extremely genuine in the doc. He could relapse tomorrow for all I know, but the doc definitely changed my opinion of him as a human being.
  19. I say ZERO acknowledgment while at a urinal. And this is the big one, NEVER use the urinal directly next to someone if there are others available. No shifty eyes either. EVER. Look at the wall in front of you.
  20. What evidence do you have that he "intended" to sell the team to Rogers? He never did and he lived a LONG life. I think Wilson could be a bit stingy with his money, but his legacy was the Buffalo Bills. Based on what I've observed, he was more concerned with keeping his money than amassing more.
  21. Yep. The franchise desperately needs Josh Allen to be the answer at QB, so some have a difficult time viewing it objectively. If he struggles and it's truly not his fault, that's far better than the alternative. All we can do is hope at this point.
  22. I get the part about PE's. Very deadly. Just didn't realize a blood clot itself could be untreatable.
  23. Brady is the GOAT IMO as well. I was responding to the poster who insinuated that Brady may have failed elsewhere. That line of thinking comes from the false narrative that Brady is a product of the system. Nobody would say such a thing about John Elway.
