  1. This would make me a very happy, optimistic Bills fan. So naturally, it won't happen.
  2. Yes. There are many, many aspects of my personality that make me weird. HOWEVER, this thread makes me feel normal. So I'm grateful to Howard for that.
  3. Ok. You get a pass Howard. But I'd prefer to win games when they count; I'm weird like that.
  4. 2002 draft with the number 4 overall pick; Mike Williams, Josh Reed, Ryan Denney, Coy Wire, Justin Bannan(best pick sadly), Kevin Thomas(second best sadly), Rodney Wright, Dominque Stevenson. This was a PIVOTAL draft. That's how you set a franchise back years. The Tampa debacle. Never seen anything like it. We were 7-4 heading into that game. Re; Sam Cowart, etc., etc., etc.
  5. I think Brown's numbers are way too low. He's in a perfect situation with a QB who likes to air it out. Barring injury or Foster re-emerging as a go to guy, I expect him to put up 1000 yards and 8 TD's.
  6. I have a serious question for you; are you a Bills fan? I'm never quite sure. Because the notion that the fanbase wouldn't be excited by a young QB with a 32-16 record and a 96 QB rating seems so far fetched that I have my doubts. I can see Patriots, Packers, and Saints fans having trepidation, but certainly not our's. We've gone through Rob Johnson, JP Losman, Trent Edwards, and EJ Manuel to name a few. Your perspective doesn't seem to jive with someone who's had high hopes for these guys only to see them falter miserably. There is ZERO doubt in my mind that fans would be head over heels excited in this scenario. They would strongly dislike a 40 mil request by Josh; I'll grant you that. But overall, thrilled.
  7. It's only been 3 years! I'm too lazy to do one of those graphs, but if you transposed the names, I expect we'd all be thinking a few adjustments here or there and JA will get over the hump. Do you remember the celebration in 2017 when we snuck into the playoffs? It was pretty much what you'd expect from a SB win. Times have been pretty rough around here for the past two decades. For clarification; I don't LOVE Dak as a quarterback. I think he's good; top 15, but this is a pivotal year in his development. If he doesn't take that step in year 4, I think he'll be cemented in that good, not great category. Also, no way in blank I'd give him 40 mil if I were the Cowboys. Zero chance. I'd definitely wait it out to see which scenario we're talking about. Is he a decent QB or can he take that next step? And after watching quite a few Cowboys games, my prediction is that it'll be "decent" and never elite. I just don't fault a player for trying to get his.
  8. Technically 3 years in. And my answer is ABSOLUTELY. They would be thrilled. I get it. People don't believe in Dak. But if you simply translate those achievements to Josh, Bills fans would be ECSTATIC.
  9. Uhhh. Have you been watching this team for the last 20 years? I'd personally LOVE to be debating how far our QB could take us in the PLAYOFFS. But that's just me.
  10. A proven player looking to maximize his earnings. I don't see the story. It seems unanimous that he's not worth the money, but why shouldn't he play the game? I think we'd be pretty excited about the future if we had a 4th year QB with a 96 rating and a 32-16 career record.
  11. Absolutely. I think we've become so cap obsessed that we forget that signing talented players is A)costly and B)necessary. Clowney would instantly transform the defense from good to great. That front four would be reminiscent of the 2014 Bills line. You got that many guys getting in the QB's mug, all of a sudden, you have a unit that is proactively changing the outcome of games. I'm all about it. Our best bet to make the playoffs NOW is a DOMINANT defense. A DOMINANT defense can take this team to the playoffs even if the offense doesn't come along as well as we'd like. Making the playoffs is a big deal when it comes to free agency and such. 2017 was anomalous in the sense that we had no money to spend by design. The good teams will always find a way to keep premier players and an upstart like the Bills should be willing to shoot their shot here. The cap is more fungible than meets the eye.
  12. I get all that and I don't have any problem with it. No issues with the stadium going to a zero tolerance policy. Non smokers(majority of folks) hate to be around cigarette smoke. My only gripe is the no re-entry. I feel like if I'm willing to walk a quarter mile away from the stadium, we're meeting halfway. I alluded to this earlier, but since you're in the know; I'll ask. Is that a security/prevention of misuse of ticket thing or what? I suppose it may just be a cost cutting measure or even a method to prevent people from getting booze on the outs. The latter supposition seems a little petty, but it is what it is. Never had the no re-entry issue at any other venue.
  13. That is part of Beasley's game, but these are not ideal routes IMO. While I agree that Allen seems to throw a really accurate ball on those comebacks, he's gonna have to get better on throws that give the receiver a chance to gain some YAC.
  14. He's capable of "earning" a spot as a starter against vanilla defenses and backups. He's not capable of filling even a backup role (adequately) when the real bullets start flying. Kid just doesn't have the pre-requisite arm strength to be an NFL QB. Matt Barkley is a serviceable backup QB. I wouldn't put Barkley and Peterman in the same category.
  15. Zay in a nutshell is a slot receiver with questionable hands. He brings a few things to the table, namely route running. I just don't think it's enough. When you look at the guys on the depth chart not expected to be big time contributors, they all do something extremely well. Zay does not have a specialty, so he's really JAG. He'll probably make the team because of the investment placed in him, but I don't see him sticking in the league. I was HOPING a quiet offseason and an improved physique would improve Jones confidence issues, but I certainly didn't see that in game 1. There's just something missing from his game and it LOOKS like confidence. He pretty much never snatches the ball with authority and turns upfield. They'll give him 2019 to improve, but my expectations are low.
  16. Let's just assume McKenzie and Ray Ray are about equal right now( I believe McKenzie is actually ahead BTW). I'm keeping the guy that runs a 4.3 over the guy that runs a 4.7. That's a significant difference in speed for guys of similar stature. I'd be pretty disappointed if they kept Ray Ray/ditched McKenzie.
  17. I think he was a Castillo favorite. Pretty much says everything you need to know about Juan as an OL coach/RGC.
  18. Yeah. I don't see much point in trotting pass rushers out there in the preseason, especially since they've all been in the system for 2 or 3 years. There's not a ton of nuance there, and we're not particularly deep at the spot, even with all these bodies. I'm certainly not ready to rely on Murphy staying healthy all year.
  19. Usually he only reels off these kind of runs from the offense's 45 in a Hail Mary situation. Growth!
  20. I think McKenzie could be this season's breakout receiver. Quick as a hiccup, gets open, creates separation and can do a number of things for Daboll. Remember how much different those jet sweeps looked once we went from Zay to McKenzie?
  21. OP is the only NFL venue I've been to in the past several years. Been to MLB games, hoops games, CFB games. Never an issue. And yes. I'm willing to WALK quite a ways to smoke a cigarette. That SEEMS like a fair compromise. Just have to deal with it. Not like a couple hours without one is a BAD thing per se.
  22. Nah. You stated it well in the previous post. Just making sure. I hope you win that one.
  23. Worst part about that is no re-entry. I make it a point to not smoke around people and have no problem with having to "work" for the vice. But it would be great if I could at least run out at halftime and partake in my filthy, filthy habit. Gotta have something to do with security I would assume.
  24. Pretty sure they only show the alternate game if the main game is blacked out in the area.
  25. By the same token, you could say it's kind of silly to compare him to guys like Elway and Favre before we've seen him play a full season. It's pretty much wait and see at this point. Talent will never be a question. Work ethic will never be a question. Accuracy/decision making could linger as issues. It's also completely conceivable that he can be a top 10 guy even if he never makes a quantum leap in the areas we'd like to see him improve upon. Optimism is fine and there are legitimate reasons, but there are also some concerns. Let's see how he plays this season before we declare him the next John Elway OR the next Tannehill.
