  1. Josh Allen was my number 1 player in the entire draft, so I'm not surprised by his performance. I would say it's a bit easier to fly off the edge than to learn the in's and out's of battling/disengaging from interior NFL offensive lineman.
  2. Zay and Foster could both potentially be cut. Murphy is mostly known for being injured. ANYONE could have signed Yeldon in the offseason if they thought he was someone they'd be willing to trade for. Shaq and maybe Foster are the two guys in the discussion that I could see providing trade value. I could see a team intrigued by Foster's big play ability and Shaq is a "proven" commodity with SOME upside. But you never know how another team views these players. Maybe they think Zay just hasn't had a QB. Maybe they think Murphy is a stud. I doubt it, but it's theoretically possible.
  3. Absolutely. The notion that Zay Jones, Shaq, and a mid round pick will get it done is pretty absurd. No chance that's the highest bidder. I suspect it may very well have to be a first for the Bills considering the tradeable assets they (don't) have. As D4D pointed out, the worst case scenario PR wise is that he doesn't want to come here. That would suck.
  4. Man. You're on the St Lawrence River drinking scotch and Montecristo Churchill and you took the time out to grab your phone and check TBD? I don't know brother. I like the dedication, but I think you gotta switch something up. Just sayin.
  5. This. Guys with the ability to disrupt plays, wreak havoc, and cause turnovers alter games and are the primary weapon AGAINST the top QB's. It may seem counterintuitive, but these guys are MORE valuable in an era where it's unrealistic to expect to hold the top QB's to less than 24 points or so. The big plays, the big stops, the turnovers; that has become the key to playing defense in this era. You pay playmakers on defense. Offense/QB comes first. Stopping opposing QB's comes second. That's exactly why pass rushers get PAID.
  6. Considering this is something I REALLY want to see happen, I'll check back when the thread title includes an edit; traded to Miami or Philadelphia.
  7. Yes. There's that. And there's also the fact that we've become obsessed with the cap. The time to be aggressive is NOW with the QB on his rookie deal. You want to keep on eye on the future, but Edmunds contract won't be up until 2022! White in 2021. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it. That being said, I think he goes to Miami.
  8. Meh. The worst thing an organization can do is acquire elite talent because you have to pay them and they MIGHT not live up to the contract. Do I have that right?
  9. This is inaccurate Fergy. He was a monster in college. That hit just got a ton of play. As a UM fan, I prefer not to watch it. In terms of his NFL career, he's shaken off early injuries and improved each and every year. His sack numbers have risen to around 9 even though he's not always tasked with rushing the passer in that scheme. He has SIXTY FOUR TFL's. The guy is legit. Well that would suck.
  10. Seeing very little on Twitter other than the Dolphins appear to be the "frontrunner."
  11. Man, if this is the case, then we can definitely stop with the unjustified concerns about Brian Daboll getting a HC gig.
  12. If this goes down...I will EXPECT this team to make the playoffs even if the offense doesn't make big strides. He's the missing piece to what could be an ELITE defense; the kind of defense capable of swinging the balance of 2-3 games. There's a big difference between keeping the team in the game and swinging the balance. The best way to beat the top QB's is to get in their face early and often. The current roster construction leaves something to be desired in that aspect. Considering how much I want to see it happen, I fully expect it NOT to happen.
  13. Honestly would love to see him return, but ultimately wish him well in life. He seems like an excellent dude, and this may be the best decision for his future. Still......I kind of hate to see him exit the league this way. It doesn't "feel" like he's going out on his own terms. He seems a little confused at times and I think it's likely that a year off will change his perspective.
  14. I was furious. The argument against hiring Schwartz was that he had failed in his stint in Detroit. Meh. It's the Lions organization. Who HAS succeeded there? And then there was the fact that the guy we hired had some early success and completely fell on his face in his last couple years in NY. Did not compute. I'm surprised Schwartz hasn't gotten so much as an interview. I think he's viewed around the league as a DC and not HC material. You'd think someone would give him a shot to dispel that with all the retreads who've gotten second chances.
  15. If you only look at the way Mario went out, you're going to have a warped idea of what he actually did with the Bills. It wasn't a home run signing, but it certainly wasn't a bust. He played a crucial role for what I consider to be our best defense in the last 30 years(2014). Clowney is a 26 year old with an incredible amount of upside. He's got all the talent in the world and has increased his productivity each and every year. EVERY signing is a risk. Look at Morse. Yes, this would be higher dollars, but you gotta roll the dice sometimes. I wish!
  16. Alright. I'll be that guy. He responded well in terms of his disposition. The kid is a competitor and has everything you look for personality wise. But he completed one additional pass. They ran the ball all night, so it's a tiny sample size. No need to make it a bigger issue than it is. But it wasn't a good night. There were only the 6 pass attempts as their game plan was clearly to work on the run game. But had he converted on third down, he would have had more opportunities. Tough to get attempts when you're going three and out. It's not the end of the world. He didn't have a good night by any objective measure. What it means going forward is very little. There's just no reason to sugarcoat it. It's not GOOD, but it's not that serious.
  17. Where's that guy who's last wish was to see the Bills go undefeated in the preseason? He's just itching to pop that champagne bottle! Let's not jinx it though.
  18. I wish! I think the Texans would certainly be interested in Dawkins, but he's off the table for me. I don't think Nsekhe has any trade value. The rumors of the Texans wanting a WR seem.....off.
  19. I've never seen Shaq pursue the way he did on that sack. Very impressive and appears to have put in some extra conditioning work THIS offseason. Not sure why. Maybe the contract. Just MAYBE.
  20. Get him into space and he can still play. He's no longer elite or a standalone feature back, but he provides value to THIS team and has no trade value. Considering his cap number means virtually nothing, who are you keeping in his place? Yeldon? Wade who can easily be PS'd? Nah. I'm good with Shady, Gore, and Singletary. Not so enthralled with Dimarco, but he'll make the 53. Not quite sure that he cuts on a dime anymore; maybe a quarter. But he showed that burst(albeit to a lesser degree) that made him a top 5 back for so many years. I'm good with McCoy right now.
  21. The WalMart money center took mine, but now I'm concerned about legal ramifications.
  22. I guess I'm in the minority, but while Green made some hilariously inaccurate comments, I thought he also made some strong points on nuance and detail. Gumbel is who we thought he was! Been around forever. He's meh. A familiar voice that doesn't bring much to the table.
  23. Completely agree with this. He's not running and that takes away a huge part of his game. I would have liked to see him build on the Carolina performance in terms of correcting his weaknesses. That did not happen. At all. But there's no doubt he'll be more effective in games that matter.
