  1. Jeez. I'm over here trying to give the man the benefit of the doubt Scott. You're killing me.
  2. I mean that's exactly what I said. I would have preferred to keep Sammy, injuries and all, but it is what it is. He hasn't put up huge numbers, but he's a gamechanger and would immediately be our best receiver(by far.) Sean McVay and Andy Reid wanted him. That's pretty strong. But that decision was made prior to Beane's arrival if memory serves. As far as Woods, I think he was going to LA unless we DRASTICALLY overpaid so I'm not putting that on the Bills.
  3. The connection to Gaine is also another reason to believe the Bills were almost certainly interested. From the reports, it looks like Clowney wants to go to Philly or Seattle. Softening on Miami. Maybe he excluded the Bills from the list. Maybe. If that's the case, nothing Beane could have done and it would have been a huge mistake to expend big resources on a one year rental. Oh well.
  4. Yeah. That has to be a mistake. No chance the Eagles are getting a first and Clowney for a recent draft pick that the Texans passed on 3 picks before the Eagles took him. Fake news.
  5. JJ Watt loves JJ Watt and cameras, in no particular order. He's the kind of guy who'd donate to a hospital "anonymously," but ensure that his publicist "accidentally" leaks the info.
  6. It's the Beane effect. I'm not saying his approach won't work, but the way he went about reshaping the roster has definitely made the FANS focus too much on cap space, in particular. You look around the league at teams with tons of good players and they constantly find ways to wiggle around the cap. I like to think Beane took the approach he took because he didn't believe the players jettisoned fit his vision and not because he believed the ultimate goal was to have the most cap space. The one aspect of his approach, which is clear, is that the draft is the way to build this particular franchise. It's the correct approach. Reality is we're very unlikely to be one of the desirable FA destinations, so your ability to draft well is a little more important than other locales. The least of my concerns regarding the team at this point in time is cap space.
  7. Lots of good jokes, but in all seriousness, once you accept the fact that the Bills may very well lose the game, the anxiety will subside. We're not on the team. All of this schtuff is out of our hands. All we can do is watch and root. Hope for the best. Expect the worst. The only way to live.
  8. Yeah. I get it. I think there's more hope with Beane than results. If Allen, Edmunds, and Oliver all pan out, he's going to look like a genius. His FA acquisitions have been less than ideal(to this point.) The reason I have to give McDermott the edge is because he's actually produced tangible results. He got 9 wins out of a 6 win roster and 6 wins out of a 3 win roster. I'm not sure if he's capable of being great, but he's proven to be good. I guess you could say Beane has "upside." Everyone loves upside.
  9. Yeah. If I based my opinion of the Bills on what BB has to say in his presser, I'd be convinced we'd won the last 20 Superbowls. Lee Smith is a guy you try to contain as much as possible. Not quite sure how we're gonna defend him. Lot of work to do.
  10. I have more confidence in McDermott as a HC than I do in Beane as a GM.
  11. Yes. My thought in the offseason was that he'd be an ideal fit as an OLB. All pro worthy. At this point, I've seen enough growth to believe he could possibly be an all pro MLB. The needle has moved. I feel like this was the prevailing consensus. But as ScottLaw said, we/they don't get many opportunities to say I told you so. I'd personally like to see them have far more opportunities like this.(Even if it premature)
  12. So this thread will mainly be comprised of "I told you so" posts as opposed to the fact that Edmunds is leaps and bounds ahead of where he was last year? Got it.
  13. So it's Johnson and Johnson. I tried to come up with a joke related to baby products, but I got nothing. I like what I've seen from Jaquan. Love what I've seen from Darryl. I'm not particularly enthused by our top 3 and it appears the Clowney stuff is fake news, so Darryl is the guy I'm really hoping can make an impact. He looks the part.
  14. What's with the cliffhanger? Just post the two names already! I'm too lazy to click on a link.
  15. This thread reminds me of the Tremaine Edmunds sucks threads from last preseason. There's plenty to be concerned about with the team; they have a long ways to go. This is just silliness.
  16. I really feel like reading through this thread and others that there's been an over correction of the false premise that preseason performance is incredibly important. While it's not the be all, end all, it means SOMETHING. You can see the improvement in Edmunds game. It's obvious. I didn't see this mean streak or recognition last preseason. He looked lost. Now; not so much. I'm sure teams are still going to gameplan to take advantage of his past overpursuit, but I feel much better about Edmunds based on what I've seen. It's still football. But Nathan Peterman! That's a complete anomaly and the QB position is unique.
  17. I'd like to see them trade down as much as possible, at least until White, Edmunds, and Allen get paid. Accumulate a bunch of 4th round picks in both 2020 and 2021 to offset the risk that any of them become elite.
  18. Counterpoint would be that it's not that he hasn't handed out big contracts; see Morse/Star. Neither look particularly good at the moment, but that's beside the point. You'd be paying a guy like Clowney more dollars but at a comparable rate based on position. Building through the draft is the best model for a team like the Bills. It's unlikely they'll ever be a popular FA destination. But there's a time and a place to make an exception to the rule.
  19. The premise is that each of those guys will not only command top dollar; it's that they'll be so indespensable that the Bills can't even consider letting them walk. I'm not too "worried" about that. If I were to nitpick the list, I would say it's pretty unlikely Harrison Phillips is going to be some coveted big ticket FA.
  20. I would say if each of those guys commands a big pay day, it'll have been a great few seasons and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. With a QB on a rookie deal, the time to be aggressive is now. We're talking about the prospects of paying one defensive end; not 3 or 4 high priced long term FA's. If ALL of those guys play well enough to earn a big payday; wow. Life (as far as the Bills go) will be good.
  21. Yeah. It was an impulse buy and I've bought from this (not so authentic) company before. Good info though. 75-90 is reasonable and worth the difference in quality. 150 plus. Not so much.
  22. I take your point, but the last time they did this, they poached a guy from the Bills. I would agree I'm less concerned about NE than the average team out there in this situation. Still say you roll the dice here. Without at least a verbal commit, you're not giving up a first. Beyond that, make it happen.
  23. Just ordered a knockoff Beasley jersey. Haven't bought a jersey in years and I'm not paying 150 plus for one.
  24. I wouldn't worry too much about having to fend off these types of women; but that's just me. I agree with the poster who suggested that watching film is great, but it's ultimately going to come down to Allen's execution. You can watch film til the cows come home(whatever that means). That's great. But it's on Josh to read the LOS, properly go through his progressions, make good decisions, and deliver an accurate ball.
