  1. Pretty sure AB has very little interest left in playing football. Helps explain his rationale for immediately crossing us off his list. Buffalo is likely not his scene.
  2. We're talking about 32 GM's deciding the guy wasn't roster worthy. It's not a league decision. Duke isn't blacklisted or anything outlandish like that. He's just not that good. Big, plodding receiver unable to create separation. There just aren't enough situations that warrant this type of player. You could use a TE for anything you'd get from Duke. GM's would overlook his college incident in 1 SECOND if they thought he was the player many here seem to believe him to be. Nice story. Below average player.
  3. Not really about paying Poyer at this point in time. He gets lumped in with Hyde, but he's got some flaws in his game. I like him. I'd like to keep him. But I don't see any reason to bump his salary at the moment. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things because he's not gonna get a huge deal and cap space is of no concern for the Bills. Just don't see a need there. Agree with the rest. I would love to see them add an impact player via trade midseason if things go well. Never know who MAY become available. The roster is solid but missing proven difference makers.
  4. I would prefer the picks become comedic gold AFTER the game. Not real interested in Jets fans emotional state until Sunday evening.
  5. I prefer when the "experts" guide the public to bet AGAINST the Bills. But that's just me and I probably view things from that perspective a bit too much.
  6. Then you have Marvin Harrison, who was universally admired for his "professionalism" doing all sorts of REAL criminal activity. Point being, don't judge a human being by their on field "flamboyance" or lack there of.
  7. SJ as in Stevie? Yeah, his personality was awesome. He had the perfect amount of swag. I'd like to see more of that to be perfectly honest. Not celebrating is the most overrated virtue in sports. I prefer to see the players having fun if they do something right.
  8. Well, I'm not a big Devin believer and I've made that clear. He hasn't had a chance to do anything, so the jury is out and my opinion is nothing but an opinion. But it IS "relatively" high for a running back these days. It's really a devalued position and teams generally only draft players they believe to be true difference makers in the first few rounds. So the expectations should be a tad higher for DS than say, an LT, WR, DE, or corner who by virtue of position, have more potential to be high impact players. We'll just have to wait to see what the kid has and hope for the best. Nothing to accurately judge him by at the moment.
  9. You know what? I wanna write this off. I really do. Because I can't stand whining about officials and almost universally view the everyone against Buffalo narrative as garbage. But there's probably a kernel of truth here. I don't believe the NFL wants to see a team so thoroughly regarded as the most uninteresting franchise in the league succeed. I really believe that. So the idea that there would be a TINY bit of communication between the league and the officials to maybe tilt a few calls against us isn't that far fetched. The ESPN/national media stuff. Yeah. It's absurd. They have no vendetta against the Bills. They see as irrelevant. The league taking steps to assist the more attractive teams? I could see it. Irregardless(not a word), I don't believe they'd go so far as to blatantly alter the outcome, so if the Bills are good enough, it won't matter.
  10. Hopefully not. That would probably portend a poor season for the Bills. I would assume you'd get better seats for games with tons of tix available.

  12. Why in the world do people get so worked up about these stupid prognostications? If the Bills actually win, what on God's green earth does it matter what some writer opines about in early September?
  13. Does the person have a Smart TV with Roku? Not to stereotype, but when I think of the situation, I'm thinking the answer may be no. If it were me, I'd get them cheap laptop and show them how to use Red...(Bills vs. Jets game thread). Then scroll through the junk until you see the one with like 30-60 responses with a subtitle of NFLstreams. Unless you have a subscription and are able to legitimately use the subscription on a laptop OR they have a Roku TV. That would be ideal obviously.
  14. Lot of good names mentioned, but I think Micah Hyde deserves a spot on that side of the ball.
  15. "Memorable." I've been an avid fan only since the beginning of the SB run and even then, I was 10 years old. Didn't really follow every game until the late 90's. Great timing. The two openers that stick out for me as "memorable" are at New England(Leodis, p... poor clock management) and Denver sometime in the mid to late 2000's where we lost on a last second field goal. On the more positive side, at the Chiefs maybe 8 years back was great. Went INTO Arrowhead and beat their breaks off. EDIT; The "Lawyer Milloy" game was by far the most fun I've had during an opener. I was an obnoxious 21 year old surrounded by Pats fans and started holding my fingers up after Brady threw his second pick. Then 3. Then 4. Glad I didn't run into the wrong person. Not quite sure why that Denver game stands out, but it was a TOUGH one. Did you mean good or memorable?
  16. Absolutely. What kind of insane human being can walk around and not notice that people look different? It's a ridiculous concept to teach a child because they're going to be VERY confused. They know that this particular teammate has dark skin and perhaps a slightly different vernacular. But you're teaching them that their inherent vision/awareness is WRONG. That's crazy talk. Respect/acknowledge different cultures/people etc. That's it. As to to OP, it's great to hear all the encouraging words used to describe Allen by him teammates. What's clear is that he's well liked and respected in the locker room. There is zero doubt about THAT.
  17. Great examples of GM's that took awhile to get it right. There are a few examples of coach's who took awhile to get it right as well. My counterpoint would be that there are VERY few modern examples of GM/HC/QB combo's taking a while to get it right. When you have the right people at those 3 positions, it generally happens rather quickly. I'm not even talking Superbowl. Where I'm at is this; if we have the right pieces in place, we should be strongly contending for a playoff spot. If we fall a little short, meh. I'll be irritated, but it wouldn't warrant any major changes. Anything less than 8 wins would be a bigtime fail. 10 wins or more and they've almost certainly gotten it right.
  18. This is all about Ford. As I suspected, they WANT him to play RT, but are basically stating they'll get Nike in there and shift him over to guard if need be. I don't think it's much more than that. BUT, perhaps Fergy was on to something. Maybe the five in the lineup will hover a few yards behind the LOS before darting to their predetermined position for any given play. 3rd and 2. Morse at LT. 3rd and 18; Dawkins at center, etc.
  19. Belichick won a SB in his second season in NE with a first year QB. I don't see the analogy there my friend. I think what BillsVet is driving at is that the playoffs are generally the expectation for a regime in year 3. I get it. Part of the model is long term success and more incremental results. But it's still year 3 and they do have a solid defense and a QB going into his second season with same coordinator. I don't quite understand how you can expect/accept mediocre results and still be brimming with confidence. You've done well explaining that position. I just don't happen to agree with it. Win games and I'm good.
  20. Different situations IMO. You watch Mahomes and his play jumps off the screen. Andy Reid has a rep for being a QB guru but he's only once(I believe) had a QB put up 30 TD's. Mahomes put up 50! When I watch Mahomes, I see a star who would thrive anywhere. Goff, I see a solid quarterback in an OUTSTANDING system.
