  1. Be nice if it were legal in NYS because those state laws track your phone/device and don't allow you to bet outside their jurisdiction. It would be kinda cool to be able to do this AT a Bills game.
  2. Pretty much everybody predicted the Bills would beat the Giants and the Jets game predictions were pretty split. Very often the teams everyone expects to win fall flat. It's a week to week league and people tend to overreact to the previous game. The really good teams win consistently even when the consensus is that they will do so. We've seen this story before with the Bills; they've gotten some momentum early in the season and all of a sudden, a win is expected. Then they muck it up. So the bottom line is this; if the Bills are going to be a legit contender, they're going to buck their historical trend and CONTINUE to win the games they're supposed to win.
  3. James would have been by far a better option, but it's tough to know if a FA preferred a different destination, etc. I tend to believe he would have chosen Buffalo had we offered more than the contract he was given. So likely just a poor decision. Pretty much agree with what you're saying, just opining that it has less to do with cap space and more to do with choosing the wrong player. But I think that's semantics.
  4. Yeah, but it's not really going to affect much of anything considering the Bills still have tons of cap space going into next season. It's more an issue for the owner and I think Pegs is fine. It'd be great if Kroft surprised and strung together a productive, healthy stretch, but it's not all that significant in the big picture if that doesn't happen. But yeah, it would have been nice to add a contributor at the position. We're clearly better at the position this year vs last so that's a good thing. I've criticized the FO plenty when they make mistakes and will continue to do so, but I'm not seeing this one as a HUGE gaffe. They rolled the dice and it doesn't look like they're gonna win this round. Just win more rounds than you lose. That's the key.
  5. Agree. As a BILLS fan, I'm most excited to watch Josh Allen. If I were to remove my allegiance to the Bills, I'd be more excited to watch Mahomes.
  6. The good news (from my perspective) is that the Bills can win and NOT cover. That's where I really get nervous. Everybody throwing their money on the Bills winning. So there's a bit of a cushion here.
  7. They took a shot hoping the injuries were behind him. They seem to gamble a bit on players with an injury history. I think this was an overpay and a bad decision. Murphy has played well in the first two games so fingers crossed. You're not gonna get a hit every at bat, so it's not the end of the world. I'm a big Sweeney guy and Knox has potential so I'm not really concerned about this one. Just calling it like I see it.
  8. Yeah. I actually don't have a huge problem with that decision, but it's fair to critique. This just seemed really absurd.
  9. In that situation, it's an over correction on his conservative tendencies. I'm all about being aggressive. Can't stand overly conservative football. But there's aggressive and there's stupid. That sequence falls under the latter category.
  10. That was a really stupid sequence by Marrone. The chances that you turn the ball over in that situation is far greater than the chances you score points. I don't care how much you trust a rookie QB. He's still a rookie QB. Just baffling.
  11. I think they scrambled a little bit early in FA'cy knowing they needed a tight end and made a poor decision. They made quite a few decisions that look very good, but this was not one of them.
  12. He said he was sick of HEARING about Ezra, not that he was personally disgusted with the man himself. This is the problem with such a subject; the only way to really express your disapproval of the lionization is to explain that you don't think he was any more or less important than other Bills fans. There's really no way to state your opinion without giving the appearance of minimizing the guy's story. And I suppose you are to an extent; but that certainly shouldn't be viewed as disparaging the man himself.
  13. Yeah. I actually think the biggest problem with the shift to fans not attending games is purely visual. Empty seats can make a game feel alot less interesting to watch on TV/streaming/whatever. Other than that, I'm pretty sure it has little impact on the bottom line.
  14. And I take these points as well. I'm certainly not convinced they're destined for greatness and I understand that you can extrapolate some things that would lead to questions about the significance. I definitely entered the season as a "skeptic" and I would have to say I remain somewhat skeptical. My main point is that I don't get TOO caught up in who they beat, etc. even if I agree with much of what you say. AT THIS POINT, they've gotten the job done. The Jets game certainly wasn't pretty, but they WON. How many times in our recent history have the Bills found a way to "make it a game" late in the 4th and ended up on the losing side of the equation? I suppose I view two road wins, against any NFL opponent,(maybe not Miami) as a great way to start the season. I've also seen some things, mainly in the Giants game, that I didn't see from Allen last season, even down the stretch when his play was improved. Looks much more decisive, finding his intermediate target, scanning the field, etc. What you need to see from a 2nd year QB is progress. So far, I've seen progress. Not exactly setting the league by storm, but progress. I'm personally more encouraged than I have been at any point about his prospects to emerge as a franchise QB. All of it could of course fall apart and the season could end poorly for both the Bills and for Allen. But right now, I like a number of things I've seen and I feel like alot of the stuff I've completely dismissed as nonsense, ie "process" could very well have some merit. Time will tell as they say.
  15. That was my instant reaction. Sometimes I think we take our feelings just a BIT too far. The OP didn't explicitly state as much, but one could infer that the message was Bills fans collectively looking ahead to the Pats game would have some effect on the Cincy game. Doesn't work that way. I view each game as important and never do the look ahead thing, so I agree in that sense, but I'm pretty sure my viewpoint is entirely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
  16. Ha. Perfect placement on that "throw." By the way, that play, and a few others, is why I did not want to see the Bills part ways with McKittrick. The guy is a playmaker.
  17. While you do have a point to an extent, the NFL is a business and the number 1 objective is to win games. How many times has a BAD team derailed the Bills momentum? How many times have the Bills lost to teams they were "supposed" to beat? Although people do seem to forget that the Jets were favored. I'm a results orientated guy and the Bills won two road games to start the season. That's the bottom line. If you break it down, there is some merit to the idea that these two games don't necessarily portend great things for the team. On the flip side, they won both games. Now they have a chance to start 3-0. The Bengals are the opponent this week and I feel pretty good about our chances. I take nothing for granted, but this is yet another very winnable game. And if they handle their business, it will mean just that; they handled their business. Overall, I'm glad we're sitting here talking about how significant or insignificant starting 2-0 is for the long term. It's a much better place to be than wondering how the team is going to recover from bad losses.
  18. Really difficult to honestly comment without appearing insensitive, but I agree with those that think much of this was completely over the top. It was a compelling human interest story and terrible for the Castro family to have to deal with such a loss, but there are tons of people out there also suffering. Would have been nice had Kelly reached out, but he was under no obligation to do so.
  19. Unfortunately, my choice has a "hamstring," but Singletary has been a really pleasant surprise for me personally. I had serious reservations about him based on measureables/level of competition in college, but he looks legit.
  20. I just do not believe in such narratives. It takes a certain level of TRUE confidence to excel in the National Football League, and even more so at WR than a few other positions. If his confidence was rattled by one drop/not a great throw by Tyrod either; then he never had the prerequisite confidence to begin with.
  21. 10000 percent this. Spot on my man. Like you stated, our opinions are meaningless. BUT. Something about this game just gives me a sinking feeling. I felt pretty confident about week 1. Not so much this week. God Bless all these fans with short memories and unbridled optimism. I've been a Bills fan for too long to chalk up any game as a win. On the flip side, I'm gonna feel really good going forward if we start out 2-0 on the road. That would be huge and I don't give a blank who they won the games against.
  22. Key phrase there being getting a lead. As much as people are chalking this up as a win, I see it as roughly 50/50. If the offense starts like they did last week and the Giants don't NEED to pass; bad things. You do not want to dig a hole in this spot. Riling up the crowd for the home opener and giving their BEST player a ton of shots to make plays is not a recipe for success here. Getting that lead is going to be vital(could say that about any game, but it's MORE applicable in this spot).
  23. Agree with all of this with one subtle exception; I wouldn't say the tackling SUCKED. It wasn't great. And as much as the rest of the points are spot on, Bell has got to be the most "slippery" RB in the league. Nevertheless, Barkley is a much more explosive runner and much more of a challenge than Bell. He's the best in the game as far as I'm concerned. So I have a hard time taking the question seriously. I mean, anything is possible; Singletary could bust a 78 yarder and that would change things. But the framing of the question makes it seem like a relatively even bet; It's FAR from that.
  24. Sigh. Yeah. It appears that way. First jersey I've bought in years was a #10 Beasley a couple weeks ago. I'm a fan. This probably won't be well received, but I do think Bills fans, somewhat specifically, need to be a little more open minded. Not casting aspersions on the entire group, but it seems to be a thing.
