  1. This type of question always brings me back to the time Ladanian Tomlinson was drafted. Bill Polian compared him to Thurman Thomas and Chargers fans were IRATE opining that a Thurman Thomas like (HOF!) career wasn't good enough and that he was much better than TT. This is perhaps the worst example ever, because LT did end up having a better career than Thurman, but it's one that stands out for whatever reason. With regards to a top 10 QB, people would probably only be satisfied with like 7 or 8 guys. The odds of a drafted QB becoming John Elway/Brett Favre/Tom Brady, etc. are HIGHLY unlikely. So the answer to this question is very simple for me from a practical standpoint. It's yes.
  2. Satisfied; yeah. No doubt. The guy has been a very, very good QB on bad to average football teams with poor coaching. I'd be more than satisfied.
  3. Appreciate the info about Holgerson if that is indeed correct. The Pats comment was a simple a recollection of the first time I heard people joke about it being a TD "pass." I don't even have a pedestal, so mine is empty. But NE has won 6 SB's, which is unheard of in modern football. They've obviously done a great deal of things right.
  4. This is not new; at all. BUT. I will say the sweeps/reverses/shovel passes/ whatever you want to call them seem to be pretty prominent in Daboll's offense. Thank Jebus they picked up McKenzie last season because watching Zay on these plays was painful. McKitrick is on the roster because of his ability to turn these plays into solid yardage. The reason you've seen more of these stat padders is that some genius figured out that giving the ball to the carrier would be more productive if they're right near the LOS and not 5-6 yards behind. Probably also a product of the increasing speed/athleticism of DL and LB'ers. These guys are too good in pursuit to be messing around back there. The more I think about it, the more I think the Pats were the first to start this trend in the past few years. Not a surprise.
  5. Really! And I'm actually coming around on Allen. But wasn't Kyler Murray a "project" QB? He's out there slinging it around left and right. At some point, we need to see that from Allen or he's gonna be mid tier. He's not a bust. He's not terrible. He does a ton of good things that make you root for the guy. But there's either gonna be a significant increase in production or there won't. Again, I love the guy as a competitor, but I want to see more. I suppose I'm also a bad fan.
  6. He also lost the AFC Championship game to the Patriots. Guy is a joke.
  7. I read the title and figured there was some kind of trend sweeping the league in which players wearing #70 were popping up as superstars left and right. Nevermind. Yeah. Very few rookies that don't flash end up cutting it long term. They're generally going to have their struggles adjusting to the league, but you'll see that flash from the one's who'll stick. Jury is out on Ford, but it's very early in the season.
  8. Going into Pittsburgh is not a game I see as some kind of guaranteed victory. I'm sure the line won't be any more than 3 or 4 either way.
  9. Cleveland, yes them, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh all look like toss up's. The results of these 3 games will be very telling. Go 2-1 here and it's most likely a successful season.
  10. Yeah. I'd give up a first for Diggs in a heartbeat. No doubt about it. Pretty sure it's unrealistic, but wow.
  11. I really hate the coin toss aspect of the current OT format. It's better than it was before considering all they needed previously was a FG. Still don't like it. I don't think there's any way to fix it unfortunately. I don't believe an XFL like scrum is an option.
  12. Honestly, I really hate them all and find them to be tired and lazy. But in a sense, they're so stupid that they've become satirically funny. "This guy's got all the tools." I mean, I've probably said it, but it's just silly. Are we talking about a talented football player or does he have a world class ratchet set? Someone had to say it. The SHOUT song has a place in Bills HISTORY. "History" being the operative word.
  13. Crazy quirk there with San Diego. Just bizarre. But it was nice to get the monkey off the back even if it didn't amount to much. This was a conference game against a "decent" team that may or may not be in the WC hunt by the end of the season. You never know. I can think of several examples of very similar games off the top of my head. I think we all know how those games went in season's past.
  14. That was a HUGE win against the Titans for the trajectory of this season. Those are the games the Bills almost always lose. Things are definitely getting better.
  15. Right. I think it's pretty unlikely Allen is ever as good as Mahomes. That may not go over well, but it's REALITY. However, if Allen is a legit franchise QB, it really won't matter in the grand scheme of things. THAT is the ultimate question concern WRT to the Bills franchise. Yes, if they could go back in time, they'd almost certainly draft Mahomes. Blaming this guy or that guy doesn't matter at this point. What matters is that Allen becomes "the guy" here. Whatever happens in KC is their business.
  16. I'm certainly not knocking anyone who enjoys positive or even negative press. I used to get a thrill out of so and so recognizing something or other that the Bills were doing well. At this point, I've just lost interest because I don't think they know much more than the average fan.
  17. Don't care what they think when it's good. Don't care what they think when it's bad. Just win the games. But to each their own.
  18. So you're a Pats fan spending his Saturday on a Bills message board debating who's defense is better? Mmkay.
  19. That EO play was amazing really. He needs to get better at his primary job of rushing the passer and holding up at the point of attack, but wow. I remember seeing a few similar clips from college. Dude is ELITE in run PURSUIT.
  20. I still don't get it, but I do want to go to McDonald's now and get some coffee. Thanks for clarifying.
  21. People used to watch them because there was only so much access the average fan had to to football. Now, not so much; at all. I'm "only" 38 and I remember waiting for Wednesday's USA Today to get a complete list of NFL stats. This was probably like 96-98. And I'm sure I watched pre game shows because you'd get Sunday, Monday, and Jaws and Sal Pal(I think) doing Edge NFL Matchup on Friday's (I think). Now, I can watch anything, anytime, anywhere. Very different world. I really don't even think the content of these shows was ever all that great; it was just the only place in town open.
  22. Except for when they traded a 3rd for Kelvin Benjamin because they realized they might be able to compete in 2017. Good GM's are willing to bend their macro approach to suit a micro situation. The time to win has become now.
  23. I mean, I feel like we agree more than we disagree. My strong preference has always been an aggressive defense that generates a ton of pressure, accumulates sacks, and forces turnovers. 2014 Bills D as a reference point sans the debacle in Oakland. With our offense, it would be great to see them given a short field on occasion. So that's a personal preference that may skew my overall assessment. But it's also 100 percent accurate to say that what they've done in response to short fields/TO's "generated" by OUR offense has been outstanding. "Dominant" even. There's very little doubt in my mind that this defense will remain in the top 5 and IS one of the best in the league. Best in the league? I think there may be one missing piece, but we'll have our answers by the end of the season.
